Alec Guiness was 63 when Star Wars came out. Ewan McGregor will be in his 50's when the Obi Wan series comes out!! Only 13 years of difference and Ewan still looks the same like in the prequels
I think he actually has aged a bit in the last 2 years. The thing is, when he played obi wan in episode 3 he was purposely aged a bit for that part, so he doesn't look that old now.
I‘m so excited for this project. I wanted to see Ewan as Obi-Wan since revenge of the sith came out. Edit: I don't know if people troll me but like I said down below I know he was Obi-Wan in the prequels. I'm not a native speaker and my formulation was a little weird. I was just tryring to express that it has been such a long time and soon the wait will be over!
He's brilliantly cast in the role, definitely want to see more of him. The problem is that the character wouldn't travel around much here. He'll spend all his time watching over Luke.
I would give it a chance. Ewan McGregor is a great actor. And as far as all the new Star Wars movies go the spin-offs are way better than the new trilogy. Their formula was to release a new trilogy movie every other year and then a stand-alone off shoot movie in between each year. Honestly the stand-alones are way better I think, Rogue One being my favorite new Star Wars film.
campkira it’s actually Dave filloni now in charge of it all a real actual Star Wars built fan that’s a director for this .. so no doubt in my mind it will be amazing , search it up, the previous directors in the last 3films didn’t give a sh#t about Star Wars or the fans

I see Ewan McGregor, I click. There's no way around it. There are no words to express how much I adore this actor. And I mean... a movie revolving around him as Obiwan ? YES. COUNT ME IN. MAKE IT 3 HOURS LONG.
@@baratheon3730 for real, he’s also revealed that he loved playing Anakin and that if he ever got the call from Lucasfilm, he’d accept it in a heartbeat. So hopefully Disney will be smart about this and give us what we want
I mean Lucasfilms didn't confirm this officially yet but there has been some more than persistant informations that Hayden was returning in the show, both as "memories" haunting Obi-Wan, and as Vader. That's probably true (making Ewan come back and not Hayden would be nonsensical) and that would be beyond awesome
Love the scene in _Bridge on the River Kwai_ where Alec’s character reflects on his life. If _Kenobi_ is half as good as _The Mandalorian,_ we’re in for a treat. Thanks Ewan!
I love that Ewan's concept for the character (after all these years and all the media we've gotten based on Ewan's Obi-Wan) is still a young Alec Guiness.
love that while Alec Guinness didn't like Star Wars, (having watched the rough cut of ANH, I can't really blame him), Ewan is always willing to come back to the role
To be fair, Guinness himself was ALWAYS absolutely willing to come back, himself -- no Obi-Wan Kenobi in "Empire" and "Jedi" without him agreeing to come in to shoot for a few days on each one.
I think this "he hated SW" thing was denied a long time ago. I mean he could have thought that of the first but apparently he really enjoyed the final product
I don't think Alec disliked Star Wars per se. I was always under the impression that as much as he liked it, he just always thought that he had better roles in other movies and that he enjoyed them far more than being in Star Wars, and that what he really disliked was the fact that people seemed to only remember him for Star Wars rather than his other movies that he thought were better.
Sir Alec didn't hate Star Wars, he just didn't want people to remember him as the actor who played Obi Wan, he's an Oscar winning actor, and acted in some of the greatest movies of all time. Just imagine a space opera albeit great, overshadowing his greatest perfomances, that's what he hated, not the Star Wars franchise.
I want to watch The Obi Wan show now ! I can’t wait to see it and i am so happy that Ewan McGregor is reprising his role as Obi Wan after all these years since we saw him last time in Revenge of The Sith :)
I really doubt it. Most actors don't religiously watch all of the things prior in their franchises Patrick Stewart and William Shatner haven't watched any star trek besides their own Rosario Dawson has only seen the odd episode of clone wars Harrison Ford didn't see the Fugitive show before he made the Fugitive movie Hell, Bill Burr has seen one or two of the movies max Like I doubt Temeura Morrison watched Clone Wars either. The producers just bring the actor up to speed with anything important to their character or a particular scene, then they shoot it.
He may be approaching Alec Guinness’s age..... but............ certainly *not* in looks. He could very easily still play a 30-something Obi Wan for MANY years to come, should he choose to. I hope they don’t pressure him to immediately make his character quite old.
he’s literally aging backwards, and you’re so right about the 30 something. I know it’s set like when Luke is around 11 (I think) but I hope we do get some of that time directly after Revenge of the Sith because Ewan just doesn’t age
André Corazza Miguens true! But you’re right, he doesn’t even look his real age without makeup. I said 30 something considering too that even though he looks young, he also has the whoooole Star Wars makeup, special effects, CGI, aaand budget behind him. 😂
