A beautiful piece, beautifully sung. My choir sang this in our concert on July 12th, I can't stop singing it.
So moving, only sung it twice and it’s already in my soul. I love it. Better in SATB than as a solo.
What a nice song!!thanks a lot.
Who is Silvia? what is she,
That all our swains commend her?
Holy, fair, and wise is she;
The heaven such grace did lend her,
That she might admired be.
Is she kind as she is fair?
For beauty lives with kindness:
Love doth to her eyes repair,
To help him of his blindness;
And, being help’d, inhabits there.
Then to Silvia let us sing,
That Silvia is excelling;
She excels each mortal thing
Upon the dull earth dwelling;
To her let us garlands bring.
That's not the melody I remember this song went by when I was a young boy of 12 or 13, I am now 84.
I suppose you remember the melody of Schubert.
Times goes so fast!
Yes, I was a young teen when we heard it at our music class in school, it was Shuberts' melody then....but I really love this version also...
