MLB, this is an amazing format!!!! My love for baseball seemed to have been surpassed by the other big three American sports (being from Detroit, WE LOVE HOCKEY!) However, interviews like this make me want to rechannel my childhood soooo bad. You have some of the best analysts on your network! Keep it up! I'm going back and watching ALL of these! Could you bring on guys like Lou Whittaker, jack Morris, Wade Boggs, and/or Frank Viola?
Alex Boaler It’s just the way life goes man. I’ll say I’m Italian yet I was born in the states. My parents were Italian and that’s the way we grew up. The native culture is there even if we aren’t technically that nationality.

As a Tigers fan (hence my username) I HATE the yankees but I gotta say... Joe Girardi has always been a class act and an excellent manager. He knows baseball better than anyone and I respect his opinions. Glad he is finding success after the yankees.

Joe went to Northwestern and was the Cubs' first choice before he took the Yankees gig. He chose the Bronx, and that's why Joe Maddon has the Cubs job. I guess that's a win/win. Don't know if Girardi would have left Aroldis Chapman in so long in Game 6 of the 2016 Series.
Baseball is really a game for the high IQ. Lots of subtleties and details. You lose track of what's happening around you, you lose the game. And they say baseball is boring. 😁😋😎

Much respect to Joe, at the end of the day he is a Major League Manager..but why so worried about umpire calls..why so much worry about something like balls and strike which you can't change..this ain't managing from the dugout, this is yelling and complaining from the dugout. What about real managing now days..you rarely see a Sac bunt or surprise bunt, a squeeze play, hit & run, fake bunt and swing, double steal, no defensive trick plays...then at the world series or world baseball classic when Managers have not choice but to implement some of this plays since every game counts..this players can't even execute a simple sacrifice bunt..but what do i know..
I'm guessing that the reason you don't see too many bunts is because they're mathematically inefficient. When you bunt, 9 times out of 10 you're giving the other team a free out. You're also not working the count when you're bunting because most of the time you're gonna get the bunt off in the first few pitches. It's more important to make the pitcher work for outs than to get a runner a single base. As for squeezes, it's much higher risk with the same outcome as a sac fly. At least if you let the batter play, there's the potential for better outcomes along with the chance to get a runner in on a sac fly. Unless you have a pitcher batting, bunting is just an inefficient play.
I would say there are times when bunting is an amazing call to make. That's what being a good manager is though. Knowing your players, the opponent and reading the situation.

Joe is an outstanding hire for MLB network, his analysis and recent experience as a manager has made for great tv for MLB tonight.
