These days hearing diatonic sweeps with high E taps is like someone gnawing a chalkboard with their teeth. But there were some great clips here outside of that.
@guitarfiend797 Isn't using scales? The reason why they came up with "Betcha Can't Play This" is to teach learning guitarists (like myself) scales, and licks to advance them in their playing capabilities. They're technically not doing this to show off their playing capabilities, but to teach learning guitarists new tricks, new things. Helps learning guitarists explore alot more.
0:14 andy timmons very nice sound, 1:43 - 2:14 chris broderick, my personal favorite, 2:43 fucking awesome, 4:26 very nice sound with a delay and nice van halen guitar. Nice collection dude. :)
@Imxoneofthefallen nice haha. i totally hear that now looking back on it. that's me being goofy, but i'm a big gamer and a student of the old school street fighter games, so maybe it bled through alittle.
@rnrjimmy ALSO, keep in mind brother, that the "respective shitty tones" are coming into a VIDEO CAMERA. not being recorded the correct way. all of them are amps that are turned up, bouncing off walls, and going into their "respective shitty cameras". so you actually have NO idea what the sound truly is in the first place. none of us do. therefore, anyone's opinion on the "tones" is invalid due to the circumstances =).
@guitarfiend797 What are you talking about? All this is using scales, it wouldn't sound correct otherwise. I heard minor and major throughout the whole thing.
Have you considered that some of the playing isent possible without the extra gain and edge you get from distortion. You simply wouldnt be able to hear the notes cause the clean sound wouldnt be able to distinquish the tones.
@rnrjimmy i think that's the point of "betcha can't play this", to play something fast and sort of challenging. i mean... c'mon dude.. greg howe is on there too. u can't talk crap about him can you? =). what would be YOUR opinion of a good guitar player, i'd like to know.
whole video I'm looking in the background and seeing dated electronics thinking, dang this is older than the 13 years ago it was originally posted. Then the last guy having his MySpace page advertised sealed the deal.
These looked a lot harder when I was like 13 watching em lol
Chris Brodrick is always the best haha
Awesome dude!:p
Thanks for putting me in there!
OH man, what an honor! Thanks so much for putting me in here, man!
-John, BTF_
Chris Broderick is the godfather of "Betcha can´t play this"
that made me laugh harder than i have all week
Would be cool if one of the guys from the acoustic background would do a "betcha can't play this". Guys like Tommy Emmanuel or Andy Mckee.
Chris Broderick's was by far the most imposible to play
Guy is a fucking wizard lol
funniest thing I've read in a long while. ty for laughs:)
These days hearing diatonic sweeps with high E taps is like someone gnawing a chalkboard with their teeth. But there were some great clips here outside of that.
Fucking Andy Timmons is too good.
1:42 Chris Broderick is clearly the best... at least of any of the tapping licks
7:27 is that _the_ Joe Haley from Psycroptic?
Sure is
my pleasure :D
Thanks man I'll check them out!
Most of them sounded like video games except for Greg How and Chris broderick
5:11 - 5:30
Best one in my opinion!
There's no mention of Guitar World's Jimmy Brown in the description but I'm pretty sure that he's playing the yellow SG.
whos the guy at 5:13 been wanting to know for ages. than

@guitarfiend797

5:10 is great can somebody tell me who it is?
Dude, I fucking LOVE Chris's Schecter. Man, I don't even know if that's a custom model or not, but I LOVE it!
Oh man..Chris Broderick's playing is just so perfect. Glad to see that Megadeth has another great musician in their lineup.
0:14 andy timmons very nice sound, 1:43 - 2:14 chris broderick, my personal favorite, 2:43 fucking awesome, 4:26 very nice sound with a delay and nice van halen guitar. Nice collection dude. :)
I might make a few BCPT videos. I'd like to submit them.
@blahkaw98 It's an esp Paul Landers ctm. They're only available outside of the us.
did it take all of about 30 secs to learn that?
Sweepity sweep sweep, sweepity sweep sweep sweepity sweep.
4:45 was awesome!!
We tend to forget hiw technical and clean Gus G is 😂
Four Andy Timmons licks? That is not enough!!!!! :O
every time you watch something like this chris brodrick is always in one
That's actually the opposite for me. My sweeping actually sounds cleaner clean than distorted, haha. I'm weird, it makes no sense.
you could put up any part of any Guthrie Govan song as a betcha can't play this
chris broderick is the best! :D
good vid btw :D
@sk8nhispanic51 I think that's an ESP Paul Landers Eclipse.
God Damn Doug Aldrich's fingers move so freely.
@Imxoneofthefallen nice haha. i totally hear that now looking back on it. that's me being goofy, but i'm a big gamer and a student of the old school street fighter games, so maybe it bled through alittle.

@guitarfiend797 What are you talking about? All this is using scales, it wouldn't sound correct otherwise. I heard minor and major throughout the whole thing.
oh my god, it sounds like a bad day at guitar center
the question was can you play it not what you thought of it
That black dude's lick was FUN-KY!
Anyone know the bloke at 5:12?
@cobraopts7 Just because he doesn't play fast doesn't mean Andy Timmons is a bad player.
He actually can play fairly fast, look at groove or die.
6:13 Omg it's me ;) haha im so bad vs all these awesome player :(

@PageJeremy You mean " 6:13 Omg it's me ;) haha im so bad vs 'about 5' of these awesome player :)
@blahkaw98 He played in a hair metal band - those guys usually have fairly ridiculous chops.
@rnrjimmy i think that's the point of "betcha can't play this", to play something fast and sort of challenging. i mean... c'mon dude.. greg howe is on there too. u can't talk crap about him can you? =). what would be YOUR opinion of a good guitar player, i'd like to know.

@sk8nhispanic51 esp eclipse looks like a custom
1:27 now thats fucking harmonizing
just because they dont make up noxious faces and play simple pentatonic scales doesn't mean they arent playing music.
I dig sweep picking, but the minute a guy typically does it,he's sounding like a million other guys.
2:36 no words
@PanterArts not really, dude. Dime, while good, wasn't the be all end all of electric guitar.
anybody know the guy from 0:15 - 1:07
Distortion makes sloppy playing sound cleaner and clean playing sound sloppier. It just brings into the middle realm of distorted.
I think Doug Aldrich has the fastest fingers on Earth
im sure i can play some of them
2:37 holly shit chris storey is a god
i can probably play every song in that video.
2:37 Lol
lots and lots of practice.
