Hey Dave! Nice video, very decent snare tho, i got some idea if you want to try It, though you set up the 20 dollar drum, can you make a video using like... only the cheap stuff like the Walmart Ride, this snare and some 12" Floor Tom turned into a Kick drum? I mean, just sorta limited-cheap-travel-gig drum? I like your videos very much and I hope brands still noticing you, keep rocking on!

What would happen if you threw another set of snares on the drum. Like if you put the two sets of snares in an x shape. What would it sound like? I would like to see this done on this snare so you wouldn't do it to a good snare.

    Recommendation for this drum:
You’re really good at DIY stuff, I’d love to see a “worst case scenario” video where you bend tension rods, scuff the body, chip the bearing edge, and otherwise totally ruin the drum in a common way. You can use your skills and experience to show us the best way to fix the issues.
“10 common damages to a drum, all on the same drum”
Alternatively, you could do a video on how to make a cheap drum sound better through micing and mixing, in which a cheap piccolo snare would be perfect for

Put some sanding sealer on the inside of the shell. It'll re-enforce the shell by soaking into the fibers & brighten the sound quite a bit. I did this on a cheap, Sound Percussion snare much like this one & along with a head change, it cracked really loud.

Bought one of these, for all the same reasons, when I opened it up, I noticed it was made of 3 plies of soft wood and had no bearing edges (cut flat), So with 80 grit sand paper I carved out some bearing edges in the shell with a round over outside bearing edge. The whole project took less than 2 hours to complete and although My bearing edges would not pass a light on a flat table test, the Drum works, especially when cranked up to high tension.
    .............
This is a little firecracker snare once the bearing edges are .... established and the drum batter head is replaced (I used an Evans coated batter head). This snare will do if one does not have the funds for anything more, however remember its very soft wood used to make the plies (some type of soft poplar), so over time it will decay...... Heck for 28 bucks it worth the hardware which one could use with a real shell from soda city drums, and the combo would make an excellent snare for under 100 bucks
    China plywood snare $ 28
    Ambassador Head $ 15
    Soda city 13 shell $ 65 Shipped
$ 98 Total outlay to build a very decent snare drum

G'day, David! I will agree! This 'Cheapest Snare'... "I actually liked the sound of this snare, too!! (am still leaning a little bit, towards the Ludwig Rocker Elite, 3"x13" Piccolo Snare Drum) But, I honestly don't think, it deserves to be destroyed like the Amazon drum!!"
It's advisable to look at the condition the bearing edges, regardless of angle and shape. Suggest: Maybe tuning up the bearing edges - (as you know) the bevelled rim of a drum’s shell - is the only place where the head meets the body of the drum. When you strike the skin, the energy of your stick transfers from the head through the edge to the shell. I find it interesting that, though drummers will spend a great deal of time considering the best types of wood for their shells, many don’t even think about how the 'Bearing Edges Affect the Sound of Drums' (which can cause unwanted buzzing, deadness, and tuning difficulties.)
Next would very kindly suggest, purchasing all brand new (Remo or Evens) batter, and resonant side, drum heads for it! Thank you for another fabulous video! "Ride-on!!"
    Cheers! 😊✌🏼🥁💕

That snare could have sounded worse, but it didn't. I was expecting a horrible sound, but I liked that

That was a decent sound. I'm impressed! You should try lacquering the inside of the drum......idk, just an idea

Order a second one of these. Put the two snares together with a set of tube lugs, only using the top head of the top shell and the bottom head and wires on the bottom shell. Remove any unnecessary hardware. Two snares in one with an open middle section! ...probably only useful for reggae and 311 tributes.

Use it as a DOUBLESTACK on top of a larger diameter snare.
    Love your videos.

Should glue a 12” shell into that shell and maybe a 10” get longer screws to go through all the shell for the lugs could fatten it up.

You know those wood-fiberglass kits by pearl? You should do something like that; line the inside of the drum with a non-wood substance. I'm thinking something like stucco.

I think add tambourine jangles to it and make a jungle piccolo 👌
