    I like all the sighting systems. Irons, red dots, prisms, magnified optics, and lpvo's. I run my 13.7" Ar with a red dot and fixed irons, the rear being an A2 sight so I can dial in further distances but I co-witness with the large aperture and it works great. My 20" AR has the 1-6 PA Aurora lpvo, which is awesome for longer ranges and for hunting deer and hogs. My 16" has the 2.5x PA cqb prism, which is more in the middle, good at close range, does okay at longer ranges, but is great for those 50-300 yard shots and with great eye relief and eye box. If I had to choose one, I'd go with red dot that has solar power and co-witnessed with fixed irons. Its a bomb proof set-up and since I always use bino's when I hunt or spot at the range, I have my magnified tool for identification.
    Great video fellas. I think y'all did a good job explaining the pro's and con's of each. With so many options, it makes picking just one a pita, lol.

      It sounds to us like you have some great load outs there and are running great optics. Those optics are pretty much what we would go with for those scenarios too!
      That 2.5x CQB reticle is awesome. Mac did a review on it and was hitting targets at 500 yards with the ACSS BDC reticle.
      Random question: are hogs a big problem in your state?

      Yeah, the ACSS reticles are awesome for many calibers and rifles. To answer your question, no, hogs aren't an issue at all. They are actually pretty rare in the wild here in MI. Most people hunt them on ranches, which is still fun. Coyotes are however becoming an issue as they are overpopulating the local areas. I shot one last year while I was deer hunting, it was tracking a deer trail I imagine where one traveled recently. Using the PA 1-6 Aurora worked great, love the large chevron the reticle has for precise shot placement.

      Mac likes to hunt and has been looking at trips to states where hogs are issues.
      Totally understand coyotes. Here in KY they are rampant. They’ve taken a couple of family pets in the past and it’s all out war against them here. Shoot on sight.
      We’ve shot a few rounds with some PA LPVOs and they were great, but we don’t have enough time on them to give a full review but PA scopes rock.

      Right on. If you get the chance to check out the Aurora reticle in either the 5x prism or the 1-6 lpvo, take it, it's a meter based instead of moa, but it's the only one I seen that had such a large chevron, and the bdc is nicely designed. It gets pretty bright, not quite as much as the 2.5x, but it's sufficient.

    I have a vortex red dot on my rifle now and have been considering switching. To an lpvo. Thus will help evaluate my decision. Thanks gents

      Both are great. Just be careful on what lpvo you go with, some have horrible fisheye effect, mainly the cheap ones, but some also have a horrible reticle. Vortex, Swampfox, and Primary Arms is what I would recommend.

    • @RangeDay
      @RangeDay  3 роки тому +1

      We don’t have much experience with Swampfox but we have had a lot of requests to look into them. We love Vortex and Primary Arms optics. They are quality optics.

    I work in security and about to get into school security threw my churches private school im working on building a 2 to 5 acre gun range on our 20 acres looking for Steel targets and any suggestions on what to build for a mock school building

    • @RangeDay
      @RangeDay  3 роки тому +1

      Man that sounds like an awesome project. You will have to keep us posted on that. We love a good gun range.
      So as far as shoot houses or mock building for live fire training, you will have to be cautious on how you make them. The walls have to be bulletproof and up to spec. A lot of people have been hit by rounds in and around shoot houses because they weren’t safe.
      We are only just looking into doing some structure work, so we can’t speak to it that much, but we saw a video recently about what makes a good shoot house. Here’s the link:
      ua-cam.com/video/EI5PR1_AGnw/v-deo.html
      For schools, we imagine long halls with rooms that feed off the hall. You don’t have many open areas unless there is a cafeteria, common area, gym, etc so you can simulate those.
      Best of luck with it! Train hard too. 🇺🇸

      @@RangeDay thank you were tearing down our barn this summer and thinking of using the aluminum from it its on private property so not to many people standing around like yall would have ! Mostly just me and family that shoot

    • @RangeDay
      @RangeDay  3 роки тому +1

      Hey you use and re-use everything. That sounds like a good use of the aluminum.
      We would still recommend a berm or something around where rounds will be going. We’ve also painted no shoot walls when working with concealment walls, meaning you never put targets on those walls or shoot in those directions.
      That’s awesome to teach the family real world firearm handling. Not just plinking.
      Best of luck and let us know how it turns out. Stay safe on the range too 😎

      But again, highly recommend Berming all walls you can or making them bullet proof. Safety first

    LPVO's are great until you get into shooting from non-standard positions and from behind barricades.

      That’s right. LPVOs and Red Dots are both forces to be reckoned with after some training 💪🏽
