I've only recently discovered the joy of hiking and visited RMNP last Aug. 2021. I came across your videos when I was planning my trip and have continued watching them to sort of revisit the amazing experience I had there. The hike to Mills was a good easy hike on day one for someone with no experience. On day two we did Nymph, Dream, and Emerald. After Emerald, we came back down to Dream Lake, stayed a couple hours past sunset after the trail emptied out and we laid on our backs on one of those boulder outcrops to watch the stars. I can't wait to work my way up to Sky Pond and who knows, maybe I'll become a Fourteener one day!! Thanks for being a fellow enjoyer of nature and beauty!!
You can make it to Sky Pond! Just keep increasing the difficulty with each hike and that helps build the confidence. When I first started I never thought Id make it to Flattop and Hallett. But I did and eventually was able to do Longs Peak, etc. Just believe in yourself and you can do it! Thanks for watching :)
Hi Nick, Barb & Sam: Thanks for sharing your beautiful hike with us. T and I were there last June and did some of the same hike (Lock Vale, Mills Lake, Bear Lake--Bierstadt lake combo). Coming from TN we had no idea that snow would still be up there even at the end of June. We ditched our plans to hike to Sky Pond (don't own spikes) and came up with another route. I was going to ask you about the permits and saw someone else already asked..Nice to have an insider connection!! We are planning on coming End of August/Beginning of September and I already have it on my calendar to get my permits the day they open for the time we are there.. It makes it all much more complicated. Enough of my rant. It was just nice to see familiar scenery.. So beautiful. Thanks for hiking and sharing it with us! Your #1 Tennessee Fans: T & S
Even though the permits are a royal pain in the butt, the park seems empty now with them limiting the amount of people. Its like going back in time to 1990.
I'm in full agreement on carrying microspikes before July. On the bucket list for next trip up is that vista at Mills lake looking up the Glacier Gorge. Man, what a view. (And I bet the Firetrail was hip-deep in snow still for being in the shade. I'd not do that ever again unless all the snow is gone. I took it back after my Hike Fail to the Loch and bent a pole when I went through and it saved me a broken ankle - no lying. That was crazy! But the pole held and I wrote the company to thank them for sturdy materials - and I replaced the poles that week.
Glad the poles saved you! There wasa little snow on fire trail, but it didnt last long. We came back a few days later and the fire trail was clear. However.. that was last week and there is fresh snow up there.
Love your videos and music selections! You've done many hikes I have passed and wanted to do, its good to get an idea what to expect. Glacier Gorge is so beautiful! So many amazing destinations! Keep up the good work.
I was on Half Mountain today and got a good look into GG and you are gonna need your snow gear. Still looks like lots of snow up high. Also get there early, showed up at 5:45 at Glacier Gorge and it had like 5 spots left.
@@nicksangetta8874 Thanks for the heads up. Yeah, I already have snowshoes and microspikes packed and ready. Once I saw this vid,I knew it was going to be snow filled higher up for sure. 👍
Went all the way to the basin above black lake. Was awesome. Route finding up to green lakecwas cool, but had to turn back. When i looked at my route i was recording showed i was maybe 10 steps up a small ledge and i would have made it. Would not want to break my leg up there. Also camp the last 4 years at hermit park. Nice hike up to kruger rock. Im from missouri and i love it here but colorado and utah are epic destinations every year.
Ive done it once before and it was before they made the trail nice through there. I pretty much just went up all those rocks and across some really sketchy cliffs. Super fun! Then tried to go up the glacier.. took like 2 steps and was like NOPE! Time to head back. I did it in late October and it was pretty frigid up there.
Great video as usual...so you said not to take the first path to Mills Lake , why? An second can you continue on the trail once you get to Mills Lake? It was so pretty up there. I have done Alberta Falls.
The first path? There is only the one trail that goes into Mills and yes, it continues on to Jewel Lake, then up to Black Lake. Then past that you can hike up on the tundra shelf area and do Frozen Lake, Green Lake or Blue Lake. Chris and I went all the way to the end last year and up Pagoda. Took us 6 hours and 45 mins to summit!!
@@laurenbouchie2394 oh I gotcha.. coming from Glacier Gorge TH there are those two junctions really close to each other. On map they are so close it makes it confusing.. but taking the first left will take you back down to Storm Pass TH. It basically parallels the road. So you dont want that.. keep going and take the 2nd left just around the corner.
Oh, by the way my secret used to be to get to the North entrance by 7am and you could drive in for free. However, i knew that was too good to be true and they are now starting at 6am at the North Entrance. So just gotta bump it up an hour
@@tylerjohnson704 Cool! If you are camping up there then you should be able to get Mummy. You could connect Hagues too and then come down the saddle, down by Crystal Lakes then back to Lawn. If you want to go for one of hardest peaks in park you could add on Rowe Peak also. Its behind Hagues. If you want to see that area in better detail check out my Mummy Mania vid.
THIS is my favorite park of all time!! I love Alberta Falls and I recently got engaged at Nymph Lake. So amazing!! Let's subscribe to one anothers channels. #BohemianBackpackers #BohemianAdventurers
Thanks for this man. Enjoy all your videos.

I did this hike a few weeks ago and it was fantastic. Went up to Mills and sky pond(needed spikes). Looking forward to going back next week.
Very nice video! Heading off on Sunday to Mummy Range for some backpacking!

Thanks Nick. Another of my favorite hikes!
Its such a good one. Hard to beat the view into Glacier Gorge

Never got to RMNP that day to do Black but heading there tomorrow. Looks like Microspikes AND snowshoes are in order just in case 👍

Ahh man! So close.. but I know what you mean with those ledges back there. You never know which one will be the last until you get over it to look.
I recommended Andrews Tarn hike from glacier gorge instead of coming down from Taylor Peak. I did it on a sunny day, it was my favorite hike ever.
