8:16 best thing to see in professional squash, Ali got 100% taxied and instead of being annoyed/embarrassed he fully commends his opponent, who returns him with a grateful tap on the back in reply as thanks
also, Coll! speak up yourself when you step on to your opponent's foot and he's only asking for a 'let' - especially with a player like Ali, who forwards you all the basic courtesies on a regular basis
With you both. Seems to me well overdue PSA invested in high resolution/speed cameras. I've rarely seen one of those slowmo's clarify that type of situation.
Absolutely shocking 'no let' decisions from the referees, those people need to be replaced, inept at what they're doing, never seen stupidity such as this.
I don't understand Joey's comment about the "naughty movement" at 18:21. Coll literally didn't even move from his spot, he wasn't trying to block Farag's line. I think it should have been a let since the drop wasn't a winner, but the ref might have seen that he had already cleared the interference but chose not to play it.
I think he's referring to Coll's left leg. Usually when a player goes in with a lunge their next step is either pushing back out of the lunge or matching their feet. In this case, Coll stepped slightly back and to the left - exactly where Farag needs to go. When done maliciously that's exactly what blocking is, though this just looks like he was not totally balanced to me.
Completely true, but it seems unintentional. It the same move that Asal uses as part of his game upsetting his opponent by giving minimal interference instead of clearing properly.
I think you mean the left corner (right from the front wall camera). Even though the angle appears to be there for basically everything besides a very acute cross drop, the refs probably felt there was no safe way for him to play a hard cross court there. The 2:28 decision is similar. The angles to the front appear to be available ultimately, but it would be very dangerous to make an attempt at that ball, so you couldn't really say their swing was free from obstruction.
In those decisions which went against Farag, I honestly felt as if Coll was not clearing the line to the ball after hitting it. I like both these players but that was my interpretation.
Farag had to win that game 5 times over, I’m glad he did in the end but that ref and video ref need to be audited by PSA and retrained. Farag showed incredible composure and was an absolute gentleman throughout. The ref seemed to have forgotten yes let is always an option. Of course context is important, but if you see how good Farag moves and reads the plays, you should at least err on a let rather than straight out no let. This bad refereeing only promotes bad sneaky fishing dangerous play.
Poor reffing. This outcome could have been different. Regarding Coll at 18:00. Is there an understanding in squash that one must move away (in the direction of the T) after you've hit a shot? Him standing still is what's putting him in the line of the run to the ball.
@@shahg25 I still remember Farag's outburst in Grasshopper 2016 against Gaultier, but he's been very respectful of the referees and players since then. But we really shouldn't be giving Asal any more airtime and let him fade into the background (until his next theatre).
@@Orbituation totally Yeah Farag has had his moments too but this normally he aint like that. I remember Farag once made Tarek replay the championship point
the no let at 16-16 seemed like the right choice to me. the shot was pretty bad since it popped out, but farag went the wrong way towards it. he was going tighter to the wall and didn't even show that he knew where the ball was going after it popped out. he also was asking for a decision before even stepping in.
This is the only explanation that makes sense to. On the earlier no-let, I think the reasoning of the refs was the same. So I'm not outraged as some are but I must also agree with a lot of the comments that Coll was clearing poorly in both cases. Based on the reviews I would probably have opted for a let in both cases.
for God's sake, get your refereeing right - this is not a club match, these guys are making a living based off of these results, and with such close games, ridiculously bad decisions by the ref, especially upon video reviews, are just inexcusable - this is NOT professional in any aspect - just abysmal 😕😕😕
There are plenty of shots that 8 billion humans can get not get to... and plenty of others that the ref can not get to. There isn't one that Ali Farag can not get to. These bad "no let" decisions are overdone and lead to ugly squash eventually.
This video is why Squash will never make it to the Olympics. There are people who will watch Skateboarding or Breakdancing, but with Official and REVIEWED decisions being so blindly wrong that everybody watching and the commentators can gasp in horror at just how wrong they are....we'll never make it to the ""big leagues""
I loved watching this game, but I really don’t believe the refs are against Farag like the commentators are making out. I’d much rather watch a game without the bitching and moaning.
Wow. Paul Cole has been watching Asal too much. The ref is as blind to Coll's obstructing movement too. If this is the new squash play, the sport is dead. Note to Coll: if Asal is your role model, be embarrassed.
8:16 best thing to see in professional squash, Ali got 100% taxied and instead of being annoyed/embarrassed he fully commends his opponent, who returns him with a grateful tap on the back in reply as thanks
All I can say is thank you Squash TV! What a game! Great squash, great fitness, great drama.
also, Coll! speak up yourself when you step on to your opponent's foot and he's only asking for a 'let' - especially with a player like Ali, who forwards you all the basic courtesies on a regular basis
Ali ! Oh how I admire you both! Wonderful! Beyond human..
Really enjoyed watching this! Thanks for the FGF, PSA! 😎
Astounding squash, appreciated for both players
Awesome Farag!
Pleasure to watch these two
No let? Where should farag hit the ball? Between colls legs?
That would have been a double bounce ;)
wow! that 2nd game ...just wow
I’m excited to see this match as the next christmas cracker. Great flowing squash
That No Let - Got to be one of the worst ref decisions I have seen at PSA level.
Took a picture with farag few weeks ago 😊
Those guys are just amazing. Such high level. Really questionable ref decisions, though.
Again a very good example when the ref wants to be the star of the match - NO LET 🤣
I honestly think the pick-up from Farag is good
Totally. Looks like he sneaks his racket underneath from an unorthodox position.
With you both.
Seems to me well overdue PSA invested in high resolution/speed cameras. I've rarely seen one of those slowmo's clarify that type of situation.
using the 0.25 speed to check, it was definitely good.
Indeterminate.... play a let.
Seems obvious... why so reluctant to just do a replay?
Reffing was terrible.Even the commentator's were shocked.!
Coll not reviewing the last call probably bc he knew the video ref would somehow give it a no-let and felt bad for farag
haha. true
Cool Coll is my favourite "fighting pig" in the squash circus!!!
와우~~😊
overall great squash

The STROKE decision at 10:05 should have been a YES LET... Farag had straight in and the right corner...

Fantastic player and great game still I feel like the refs decisions were a little tricky
No they were not. They were quite straight forward. I am sorry but the ref is no good in this game.
Farag is a squash god o,o

No let twice on real stroke decisions 😮😮
Man such a great games. The video referee tried his best to ruin the game. Its like they are not educated on how to ref.
That ref needs to be fired.. wtf.. such a bad call..😮
A couple of shockingly poor decisions in there. One, a no let on review, should have been a stoke to Farag. The other was close too.
Coll didn't have the guts to speak up when it was most needed of him. Shows the character of the man. Win by hook or crook
The ref seemed a bit one-sided.
Wow imagine these decisions against Asal and MoSho! They would bring the officials out
Why do you fanatics keep making every unrelated video/post/tweet/dirt about Asal?
Because Asal is still the worst behaving player ever
@@Orbituation because of the reaction. Farag didn’t make that big of a deal of those horrendous decisions

This referee needs to simply retire from Squash. It was the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen in Squash in a while.

Paul Cole is about the least complaining, moaning squash player out there. My hats off to him.
Farag certainly deserved the second game, 1-1. Lousy job by the referee.
And this video has only 6 likes
Why did you put this video on this public forum. Do you want to know what we think about your refs?
bro i js found out what squash was

fire those refs what the fk were these calls

How can that not be a stroke. Go back to do your refereeing course. Unbelievable
Good example when the referee is trying to be the star of the game👹
I really wish they had a bit more fair Referee

Casters seem a bit off, and the male one is kinda annoying
Advert, advert, advert, squash, advert, advert…!
gotta say psa needs to find new refs. people at my club can ref better. and also new commentators
