I always love Ylva's voice but I love it even more on ballads, it's like my water when I'm thirsty, an embrace when I'm cold

This song is about the norse god and goddes Baldur and his wife Nanna. Baldur was the son of Odin and Frigg (Freya) and loki (the trickster and mischievous god in norse mythology) tricked a man named Hodr into killing Baldur. With sorrow during the funeral of Baldur she passes away and is placed beside baldur and they send him and her down the river snd set the boat ablaze so that way they'll remain together like the lyrics say "in life in death i shall walk beside you" " in life in death wherever you go". All in all the song is about a never ending love so strong that even death can't keep them apart
In the rough you are right, but Frigg and Freya is not the same :)
There have been some conclusions made due to similarities, but from historical information we got - we know they are not the same.
To begin with, Frigg is Asynje(Asa) and Freya is Vaner... but there's also plenty of sagas on there lovelife and family relations which makes it impossible to be the same.
You missed a very key part of the tale. Nanna took her own life to be with Baldr.

@@runedanmark Romans aren't the ones who recorded that. It was found from ancient Germanic sources. It's actually common in human history for different cultures to have different names for different Gods or for names of Gods to evolve into different names. As one of Freyja's chosen I can tell you that Frigg was in fact one of her older names. If you want a scientific source look up what common origin hypothesis is.

As power ballads go, they don't get a whole lot better than this one! Her gorgeous soft, breathy delivery set the tone beautifully and carry the listener through the whole song effortlessly! It's wonderful to see Brothers of Metal grow in both songwriting and composition as much as they have! Can't wait for the new album!
My father passed away on the first of this month, after a year long battle with cancer. I played this for my mother to help her cope with the grief. If she didn't have me and my sister in her life, I don't want to think about where she'd be.

I'm obsessed with this heartwrenching yet powerful ballad! My mind races with the endless possibilities I've created in my fantasy-nordic inspired universe that I've steadily built over the years. I can picture my strong nordic warrior princess OC singing this gorgeous piece at the funeral of her beloved king who died in battle, tears streaming down her cheek as she stares at the burning pyre before her, grieving yet committed to lead her people to further glory and prosperity during the dark times ahead!

Absolutely adore this song! It's so moving and beautiful, and you pretty much never see Nanna, the wife of Baldur, or her side and perspective on her husband's death be represented anywhere. So I appreciate this a lot.

Nannas Fate is one of my favorites on this album. Songs like Freya, Weaver of Fate really showcase Ylva. Her voice is flawless!

@@tetsujin2881 Yeah, even though the last song was pretty cool, fun, and I like when there's a song on an album that's different from the rest, the last song isn't necessarily something I'd want to listen to over and over again, like this song. The best songs are the ones that punch you in the face emotionally. Even if it hurts. And they don't always have to be ballads 😁😁
