It can be a perfect cycle - songs about realms of yggdrasil... about Hel or, for example, Surtr of Muspelheim or dark elves of Svartalfheim... I'd like it!!!
If I remember the story correctly, Odin Banished Hela to Helheim for being so hideous due to her having the blood of a god and a witch. in her banishment she did become crippled from the fall to Helheim. But the song fits perfect and even the art showing her disfigured a little bit as a child was kind of neet to see.
@LittleGiantJ she isn't exactly a villain in the traditional sense, she's seen as one because you'd see the goddess of the underworld as a villain, same as you'd see the Grim Reaper as a villain, but they're just doing their jobs
Wulfric R yeah she’s really not a villain at all, she’s fair and just and takes all the dead that the aesir and vanir deem “unworthy”, most underworld deities are the least messed up amongst their respective families lol
because as far as the legends say none of the 3 were villains, they were cast as such by Odin out of fear of a prophecy, a prophecy HE caused by trying to stop it...
One of my favorite Brothers of Metal songs and the lyric video really illustrated the story of Hel. I appreciate that, and I really liked it. Keep up the great work! 🤘
SUCH an awesome song. The only thing that really gets me, is that the singers allude to Hel being thrown into the depths by Odin causing her to be crippled. I've gone through my copies of the Poetic Edda and the Prose Edda and can't find this reference. It also wasn't mentioned by Dr. Jackson Crawford's translation of Hel. Any idea where they got this reference or whether it was the band's artistic expression? So far all I can find is the story of when the Aesir discover and meet the children of Loki, and another with the story of Balder.
4:14 i feel like Hel would sing this every now and then, and one day a mortal sails too close to the gates of Helheim and hears this and sees some condemned souls wandering around and decides to call her song the "Song of Death"
Suddenly I'm reminded of Human Head's RUNE...when Ragnar is stuck in Hel & has armies of undead to fight through... DAMN this makes me want to reinstall that ancient game...
To me this is an ode to the sorrow of one I know. Broken as a child and suffering forevermore. Destined to hurt all of those around her and live a lonely life of pain.
Seeing this music video made me realize something, Jormungandr and Hel were CHILDREN when Odin threw them out, only Fenrir was allowed to grow up in Asgard, so Hel became the queen of well Hel when she was a child! Jormungandr got thrown out when he was still a baby I believe, and Fenrir was bound as soon as he got "too strong" Odin's a dick
He is a massive dick, he also brought the Frost Giants to near extinction. In fact, if it wasn't for Odin, Jormungandr and Fenrir wouldn't have been so scornful and may not of started Ragnarok.
@KingofThemyscira "Kids, even if you know something bad might happen because of some people, don't let fear take you over and start being a dick to them. It might just lead to you, your family, friends and practically the world getting destroyed" Would be much better of a lesson than most fairytales' lessons if it was put into words properly, to be honest.

One the worst things about pop culture awareness of Hel is that now because of Thor Ragnarok most will know her as a stupid video game villain when she's supposed to be a broken and tragic character who embodies loneliness and melancholy.
Is she really though? I read Snorri's Edda and another book about North Mythology, and nothing there hinted that Hel was meant to be a tragic character. She's barely even mentioned, aside from when they send her to Niflheim and later when Hermod asks for Baldr's revival.

Probably the best song of the album followed by Powersnake. Jörmungandr is one of the more interesting figures of the mythology.
It still has significance to me. Although I be amongst the chosen, my sickly sister has her merit. None the drengir that fear her remain among the living.
Well, it probably wouldn't very fun if you went there, though... I mean, if I remember correctly, Helheim is the worst place the dead can go. Niflheim might be worse (for criminals, maybe?), and that "the place where those who die in the sea go" I believe exists might not even be in the myths and turn out to be something I read from a book with the norse tales as it's setting.
I think there might be a bit of confusion the underworld isn’t a punishment in Norse mythology there is a specific part of the underworld for punishment but mostly just a place where people did the same things they did in life, just in a different place

@@Shuulk I know you probably know this now, but just in case, iirc She's a child of Loki, not Odin.
Odin be like
I'm sorry little one. *yeet*
He gonna regret it come with Ragnarok
Yes he will regret it, it's brother's promise
GOD FUCKING DAMMIT
my sides
Thinking on it, Odin may have done it to protect her from the fate that was to befall her brothers.
Technically the offspring of a Giant. The gods can't be associated with giants, they're mortal enemies.
There are other places. Not everyone reach Wallhala. Expecially these times. Pray to Hel. This song has the best lyrics imo.
Amazing artwork for all of it and a great song from one of my favourite albums of all time.
I'm from Russia, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying your music! I came across you quite by accident, but I liked you very much right away! Keep up the good work! don't stop making us happy!
The Ruser (Swedes) went to Russia and down to Kiew.
Ruser = Men who roars.
The humming at the final part of the song will sound awesome when the fans sing it when they play Wacken!
If there is Wacken this year, given how slow the virus role out is going in the EU it might have to be a virtual / AR event like last year
It can be a perfect cycle - songs about realms of yggdrasil... about Hel or, for example, Surtr of Muspelheim or dark elves of Svartalfheim...
If i remember correctly she became hideous from the fall. Before she was a beauty
Amazing performance, this band is too underrated for the work they've done. Huge respect from Portugal \m/
This song might just be my favourite song from both the albums due to the terrifyingly brilliant storytelling 🤘
Why am I crying over deity of the Underworld?
@LittleGiantJ she isn't exactly a villain in the traditional sense, she's seen as one because you'd see the goddess of the underworld as a villain, same as you'd see the Grim Reaper as a villain, but they're just doing their jobs
Wulfric R yeah she’s really not a villain at all, she’s fair and just and takes all the dead that the aesir and vanir deem “unworthy”, most underworld deities are the least messed up amongst their respective families lol
She in not villain
because as far as the legends say none of the 3 were villains, they were cast as such by Odin out of fear of a prophecy, a prophecy HE caused by trying to stop it...
@@brayachdragonbane7529 you're god damn right
Wow just wow I love this song, immediately going to rabbit hole every song this band has ever made
Best album this year.

This song converted me. Goddess of the sick and unchosen. Know those feels well! Good job guys keep it up!
Welcome to the broteherhood I'm Norse Pagan former roman catholic chritian Hail the Gods and Goddesses and the forgotten ones
I doubt it's a literal cripple, it might be eluding to not being able to escape or something along those lines, that was at least how I interpreted it
I always cry at the chorus no matter what at least 1 tear idk why
Never heard a Song like this what an amazing masterpice
4:14 i feel like Hel would sing this every now and then, and one day a mortal sails too close to the gates of Helheim and hears this and sees some condemned souls wandering around and decides to call her song the "Song of Death"
3:51 The spiked helmet guy dies again 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Even in Helheim he can't catch a break!
I can't stop listening to this song. It's so perfect: the lyrics, the music... also this lyric video is very powerful. Great job to all!
Why haven't I heard of this before? This is just beyond epic.
One of my favourite songs from this album. Love the energy it has.
Oh man this chorus is SO DAMN CATCHY. Love it! Please please please play this on the upcoming tour early 2022!!
Brings tears to my eyes...sympathy for the goddess.
Suddenly I'm reminded of Human Head's RUNE...when Ragnar is stuck in Hel & has armies of undead to fight through...
DAMN this makes me want to reinstall that ancient game...
I already knew all the words! Brothers of Metal are my favorite metal band! Love this video!!
This song could definetly be a movie soundtrack if they made a movie about Helheim in viking mythology. I for one would want a movie like that too lol
To me this is an ode to the sorrow of one I know. Broken as a child and suffering forevermore. Destined to hurt all of those around her and live a lonely life of pain.
Der Besten Song, den ich seit langem hören durfte. Gänsehaut und halskratzen gratis!
Sending my deepest love from Botswana
Your music will always take me to a special place
Seeing this music video made me realize something, Jormungandr and Hel were CHILDREN when Odin threw them out, only Fenrir was allowed to grow up in Asgard, so Hel became the queen of well Hel when she was a child! Jormungandr got thrown out when he was still a baby I believe, and Fenrir was bound as soon as he got "too strong" Odin's a dick
Yes he is
He is a massive dick, he also brought the Frost Giants to near extinction. In fact, if it wasn't for Odin, Jormungandr and Fenrir wouldn't have been so scornful and may not of started Ragnarok.
@KingofThemyscira "Kids, even if you know something bad might happen because of some people, don't let fear take you over and start being a dick to them. It might just lead to you, your family, friends and practically the world getting destroyed"
Would be much better of a lesson than most fairytales' lessons if it was put into words properly, to be honest.
Fenrir's strength was to Thor's as a regular wolf's is to a regular man

Роман, вы знаете толк в музыке))
One the worst things about pop culture awareness of Hel is that now because of Thor Ragnarok most will know her as a stupid video game villain when she's supposed to be a broken and tragic character who embodies loneliness and melancholy.
Is she really though? I read Snorri's Edda and another book about North Mythology, and nothing there hinted that Hel was meant to be a tragic character. She's barely even mentioned, aside from when they send her to Niflheim and later when Hermod asks for Baldr's revival.
WOW... Simply spectacular, since I heard it it was like "wow this is great!" and now seeing it in a video is SPECTACULAR, thanks
BROTHERS OF METAL!
Do Powersnake next.
Would be better Emblas Saga, it’s a large history
I think they'll do Kaunas Dagaz
@@guipinus I'd love to have emblas saga next because of the old Norse they have in their, plus it would be AMAZING to have some visuals with the story bits at the beginning and the middle of the song!
Maybe then we can see how they'd depict Thor like we got with Odin here.

Brothers of Metal amazing!!
Super groupe incroyable, bonjour de France les Vikings !
Oh my god, this is truly the best "lyric video" I've ever seen in my entire damn life
Very classic Nordic feel with this.
Power metal band making a death metal song about hel. Fitting.
Holy hell mama gazelle! This was truely amazing, loved the artstyle and the subtle animations. It was a great addition to a very good song
Absolutely Beautiful track !!!
Brothers of Metal just keeps getting better :D
This lyric video has more production quality than other bands performance oder story videos
Amazing! Please come tour the states in 2021.🤙
Man I just discovered Berserkir and this band today. I'm making my rounds to all their music. This band frickin jams!
I actually never checked these guys out cause I thought it was a joke/parody band.
Then last year Yggdrassil autoplayed after some other video... and damn, blew me away.
Vad kan man säga? Autoplay är en förbannat bra funktion ibland ha ha :P
Skål och fortsätt skriva förbannat bra musik!
Hatten av till Ylva Eriksson, klockren röst!
The cheese is pretty off putting even for a power metal band. If you just hear the songs and don't get exposed to the cheese, the band is phenomenal. This song in particular is excellent. Probably the best song of the album followed by Powersnake. Jörmungandr is one of the more interesting figures of the mythology.
This song is SO F****** GOOD!!
Late to the party…just found this band…awesomeness!!!! ❤️
It still has significance to me. Although I be amongst the chosen, my sickly sister has her merit. None the drengir that fear her remain among the living.
Seriously, you guys are amazing! Can't wait for the next album!!!
everybody who likes this music, art and mythology: i love you. brothers and sisters, unite!
This song is beautiful. It makes me want to meet The Goddess Of The Underground.
@@echoesman3439 You're incorrect. Hel isn't a punishment. It's far from life, but as far as 'underground' afterlives though, it's actually quite nice
I think there might be a bit of confusion the underworld isn’t a punishment in Norse mythology there is a specific part of the underworld for punishment but mostly just a place where people did the same things they did in life, just in a different place
Oh.
I see. My mistake, then. Been a while since my last Norse Mythology Spree, so I guess I forgot.
Me encanta este grupo, desde que lo descubrí me fascino. Muchas gracias.
What a masterpiece.
my most favourite brothers of metal song
MMMMMMMM some POWERFUL vocals here. Giving me some lullaby vibes. You guys should totally do a Lullaby of sorts if it wasnt one. \m/
