    It’s probably more complex than we imagine to calculate the mileage correctly with bigger than factory tires. You willl travel slightly farther on bigger diameter tires than what the odometer/computer calculates, which would make the vehicle get a smidge better than shown. But a wider, heavier tire with more mass, road friction, and wind resistance degrades mileage. Maybe it’s a wash ?? 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

    I have a 2022 SR5 on order and the dealer is going to slap a 2" leveling kit in the front for me. Mine will have the factory 18" wheels, which I'm unsure of the offset those will have. With that said, will I clear the control arm with a 12.50 tire on the factory 18? Maybe a 11.50? What size spacer would I need if not? I'd prefer to run a narrower tire to keep it under the fender wells so I don't sling crap all over the side of the truck. I have a JK that I play in the rocks with, I want to keep this looking good. Thanks in advance brother.

      11.50 would clear no problem on stock wheels. Stocks are a +60mm offset. 12.50 would clear as well with maybe the slightest rub at full lock. A 10mm wheel spacer is all that would be needed for full clearance.

    I just bought a 21 trd pro with all weather tires. The ride quality is very smooth. I test drove a 21 trd pro with offroading tires and the ride quality was significantly worse. So I'm wondering if adding 35's to your 22 effected the ride quality at all.

    • @BillyOnroad
      @BillyOnroad  2 роки тому +3

      Congrats on the Pro! Ive found that when changing tires, ride quality really comes down to the load index/load range. The oem stock tires that came on the Tundra were a street rated SL load range, and a load index of 116. The tires i upgraded to are Load Range D, with a load index of 118. The tire is still very soft, and provides for a very comfortable ride. The Tundra doesnt need a heavier load range E tire, which would be a load index of 125-129, it just makes for a harsher ride and can feel bumpy when driving over bumps. It can rock you back and forth in the cab depending on tire. I haven't experienced that with these new tires. They are very comfortable. They're slightly harsher than stock, but thats one of the tradeoffs for a stronger tire. Still very comfortable. It can be difficult finding tires in a load range D, especially for 18" wheels, but they are out there. If anything look for a lower load index. If you go down to 17" wheels, there are more lower index tires that provide a soft ride. Just be sure to watch the weight capacity of the tire you're choosing to not loose any of your max payload. I prefer not to go lower than what the Truck came with stock. Which was a load index of 116. Kinda on the same topic, There are needs for E rates tires for example if you're doing heavy towing, you'll want the stronger sidewall and durability that a E rated tire provides.. and the additional weight youre adding. Heavier trucks need heavier rated tires.

    • @BillyOnroad
      @BillyOnroad  2 роки тому +1

      @@Nflguy4949 sometimes it can come down to air pressure too. If its over inflated youre gonna feel like you're rocking back and forth.. a lot of e rated tires have a max psi of 80.. and sometimes guys for whatever reason will run them at 70+ psi which is just insane and you my as well prepare for a concussion as you go over speed bumps. Its best to run those tires around 36-42 psi and it will provide a more comfortable ride.

    As you get larger tires odometer reading become off. Larger tire travel a longer distance compare to stock tire, so your truck will under estimate distance travelled. You should use an App or google map to calculate distance not the actual reading in the truck. Ajusted numbers will actually improve your mpg results 😉

      I agree he should check his speedometer against a GPS. My last 3 trucks all over estimated my mph when stock. My Silverado and Ram were off +2 mph at 75. So in turn, my mpg would also be over estimating by 2.66%. Titan was off +1.5 mph and 2.0% mpg. Adding slightly larger tires made them closer than factory. By law the automobile manufacturers are allowed to read, up to 110% of actual speed, but can never read under.

      @@BillyOnroad Agreed with other observations that both your speedometer and odometer are now thrown off by a certain percentage (both reading low). If you do a long trip, just google map it from gas station you fill at to gas station to do your next fill and use that amount. My law, odometers have to be within a certain % of accuracy from the factory. As for your speedometer, most speedos read lower than actual when stock (as there is not the same law that they have to be within X accuracy like odometers), so the odds are your speedometer is now closer to your actual speed than it was before!

    For those complaining about the gas mileage, have you tried to push it up a hill. What a bargain for per gallon. My 2015 1794 gets about 12mpg and my manual 20 trd pro only gets about 15mpg. If it's gas mileage that floats your boat buy a Prius.

    Don’t use Costco gas. Spend a few extra cents and get real gas. Hyundai dealer actually takes a sample of gas and tests for sugar content before they honor the warranty. Now I drive a bmw and it’s chevron or shell only.
