Comfy video, thank you for this. The "An Adventure in Time and Space" movie about Doctor Who's creation and First Doctor gives an entertaining scene on how the design of the original TARDIS interior was hastily imagined.

AAISAT is good, but I'd also recommend the documentaries from the DVD releases as the 50th's special did take a more comedic and flippant presentation that doesn't do it justice.
Great overview, Thanks! My favorites were Hartnell's original and, of course, the expansiveness of seasons 18-26, even if McCoy's era more or less ditched it. :( the 1983 console still feels the most practical, rather than the knobs and meters activated remotely (the end of An Unearthly Child had originally an unintentional click noise to enable the radiation meter, which was scrubbed out in a later home media release)

20th anniversary console has always been my favourite perhaps because it's the first one I saw. I don't think the new show got it right until the redesign for the 50th anniversary
Personaly these my top five consoul rooms from classic who: The First Doctor's console room from Seasons 1 to 4 The Forth Doctor's first console room from Season 13 The Fifth Doctor's console room from Seasons 21 to 26 The Third Doctor's console room from Season 8 The Eighth Doctor's console room from the TV movie

@@tardisspider7187 , I saw that you covered Nu Who also, and I was curious on your thoughts of the 13th's console room. Very different and alien looking. I was more fascinated with Classic, because I love Classic all the way to the First.

I spent so much more time with Classic that i hope to think I know it like the back of my hand. Here is an admission while I prefer Classic, The best stories come from the modern era and faster more emotional style story telling. Thanks for the view and the comment. I do believe that Classic Doctor Who is the better of the two by far. My opinion on New Who started out high and dropped as time went by. Things went downhill quickly when Clara arrived and dropped even lower in the following years. My hope is for improvement under RTD. Terry @ Tardis Spider
@@tardisspider7187 Doctor 12 was OK, but the stories and other characters around him were awful. Horse Faced Biww was a wreck. Clara was the culmination of raising the companion to be above the Doctor, more important than the Doctor - she saved every version of the Doctor. Ridiculous.
@@fjccommish I agree on these points and I find the latest incarnation of the Doctor to be a very bad idea. An actor of color would not have been divisive and may have been welcomed by the fandom. Looking at New Who as a whole, the train wreck started with one of the best moments in Who history. Doctor Who has always had a high body count in its history. Just this once everybody lives. Doctor Who changed that in one moment. After that nobody with more than just a few lines would not or could not die. The companions started to be more important than the Doctor and teaching the audience was more important than telling a good story or entertaining the viewer. @@tardisspider7187 Nobody would have blinked at any male Doctor. New Who has been about elevating the companion, every moment a crescendo, pushing leftist ideals like LGBTQRSTUVWXYZ. Real Who, classic Who is full of strong female characters starting with the first two female companions.. There was no need to change to a woman except men bad. "I AM THE DOCTOR! NOBODY WILL DIE" That's an every moment crescendo line. When every moment is a crescendo, crescendo loses meaning. The 12th Doctor was more like a classic Doctor, unfortunately the stories were awful. He had the worst companion of all - Horse Faced Biww. Every episode, she announced she is lesbian, and someone cheered it.
@@fjccommish While Classic Who had it's fair share of screamers, most of the female companions were strong well created characters. If you take time to look all of the female companions of the 1970's they are strong yet the male are weaker (Harry Sullivan & Adric). I made a music video with the 70's song I am woman (Helen Ready) showcasing the strong female companions in action. A strong lead character is made stronger with a supporting cast that can help not stand by helplessly. The Classic era was built on a slower pace of story telling allowing you to build your characters and story not rushed using emotions (usually those of the writer) creating a better product. The limitations of getting a story out in one episode does not allow building character or plot. Sure sometimes Classic would drag because they had to get another episode in to fill the BBc's calendar, but rushing to get everything done quickly to get it in one episode makes an empty story. I very much prefer the last two Console Rooms of the Classic Series.
After that, the Cosole Room takes on a drab dreary squalid look.
