it makes me so sad to think that nowadays all the kpop fans just know the 4th gen and a little bit about the 3th gen that they tend to give this titles like "kings/queens of kpop" to groups that are only popular for now. everyone just sleep on snsd who literally was the first group to open the international doors to other groups. some of the kpop fans doesn't even know that they exist ?????? it's so upsetting.
I couldn't agree more, that's so upsetting...People ( new kpop fans ) literally sleeping on their achievements and all the succes they had overseas. It makes me sick to see those newbies being unrespectful towards them. They really think popularity is the reason for calling someone King/Queen. SNSD and many other group from 1st & 2nd gen spend their youth for this. They worked morning to night, they gave their blood, sweat, life... They achieve all these successes without youtube streaming and stuff. They never needed fans' streaming circles, people watched and listened to them because they enjoyed their work. Even youtube and other social media wasn't popular or exist during their time. Succes was real back then.
They gave all they have and now some kids come say they did nothing. I am so tired of seeing people still don't know how to respect. Like what you said it's so upsetting.

Imo, thats only applied to international fans. The insecurity about the facts that old idols been overcomed by the popularity of recent idols. Because in korea themself, old idols were actually still massively popular and surprisingly the so called world wide famous recent kpop groups are not more famous than the old one in south korea. You can see it yourself by how variety show's ratings when either old or new idol guesting were not so much different, and infact old idols tend to have higher ratings.
Shinee's last comeback wins more trophies than expected when we as international kpopers, through non korean speaking media outlets, thought they are sinking and forgotten long time ago.

Not to mention that Yoona invented the visual word in the industry. It had a article too lol, back in the days where Eugene was belong in the first generation k-pop girl groups era, but just called as the prettiest member not as a visual until Yoona was named and got trend. Also, SNSD was the only gg that have been changing their officiall positions, Yoona as the first idol group who's the visual, center and face of the group. SNSD for having two face of the group or maybe three, because Jessica popularity back then was pretty insane, SNSD for having a museum through their iconic outfits, SNSD for creating photo cards, and more.
Also, the diverse concept too, the versatility that run in their past activites is very evident.
That's why Soo Man said no matter what Yoona and Siwon had to be in the middle position. They will always be the original visuals in the industry.
U forgot it was snsd who basically put kpop to the world map and popularize youtube to kpop. Back then internet wasnt that accessable as it is now to most asian house and youtube is still in old format. Internet was still pretty expensive so most asian dont have internet at home yet. People need to went to cafe or pay a lot to have internet service at home. Then google bought youtube i think a year or two before snsd officially debut. Well it safer to say sm ent really leading korea to new technology. Rmmbr when mirotic, sorry sorry was viral most song fully dominate by boy group. People even boycott and protest infront of sm ent coz how unacceptable snsd was back then. I rmmbr itnw snsd was one of the group who nominate at mtv asia award along with dbsk and super junior but they didnt win. They were still new and people very much prefer boy group. Even worst The black ocean happen n all then they stay low profile n went hiatus almost i think 8-9 month later sm start dropping gee teaser. One by one and suddenly magic happen. Then they start putting their visual mv and promote em. The hahahah song for samsung campaign and chocolate love cf the one with the baby blue wall cant rmmbr song along with their iconic mv gee, oh , RDR, genie. Their samsung campaign promote people for streaming. So people slowly change from using radio and tv and move using internet not depending on audio media. Snsd one of big factor making visual more appealing. I rmmbe back then if i want to search for snsd i hv to copypaste the hangul words before it show up on my search thats how isolate kpop is from the world. With snsd colourful mv, stereo audio and hd format google making youtube easy to access but it was snsd mv that create wave after wave and making one after wnother thing trending from their gee crab dance, skinny jeans, white shirt with blue jeans trend, they also popularize the genie dance and sailor uniform and dominating variety show and cf. All the cf that they did back then is crazy. They were even put inside korea tourism brochure and went u land on incheon airport u will be greet by snsd banner and poster as they become part of tourism ambasador as i guess presenting kpop to tourist. Also it was sone who invent fancam as yuri is the first kpop idol who have fancam before it become popular and apply to every kpop now. Without yuri fancam there is no fancam fansite and 4k cam 8k cam now. also there is a moment when mnet banned lipsync for all performance becoz of snsd always perform live. It was for almost half year. The good old day kpop performance.

Personally, I don't care if younger generations didn't stan our girls as there's so many new k-pop group already. But please don't disrespect or belittle Soshi. They are our pride as we saw their ups and downs.

During their pre-debut, knetz denounced SM and SNSD for having a large number of members. They were literally complaining "how are we supposed to memorize their faces and names?" and "isn't it too much for a girl group to have that number?"
Well, looking at them now, everyone in the industry knows them. 3rd year in the kpop scene but they already past that "putting on name tags" even though they are nine. They all shine and have an established name individually.
plus that Bermuda triangle, it wasn't just for visual, it was when Yuri, Yoona, and Seohyun got a lot of cosmetic endorsements at the same time during their peak (which was kinda hard to achieve for girl groups back in their prime.) That's why bermuda triangle was created.
SNSD will always be the NGG, because that title is made for them, gallup korea gave it to SNSD. That title belongs to SNSD, no one else.♥️

I've also heard/seen, a couple of times, show hosts describe Seohyun as "The Nation's Daughter" . Having her MC the 2018 cultural exchange in Pyonyang ( when Red Velvet performed) was a serious honor and responsibility, for which she was very well suited. ( Her performance of that North Korean song---I forget what it was called---was exquisite, and clearly impressed the DRPK audience).
Passing the Mic is always funny, especially as Sooyoung, Tiffany and Yuri are so outgoing and active on variety shows, and had a lot of experience as MCs. I 'm sure sometimes they seriously didn't really want to answer questions they'd heard a thousand times before, but I'm also sure they often passed the mic just for fun (and so often it seems the victims were inevitably Taeyeon or Sunny).

They are the reason whom many girl kpop groups were inspire to be. Blackpink and Twice are popular during their generation because of SNSD. Many groups hold off on their comeback specials because of them...with the exception of PSY.

I have to disagree with SNSD inventing the "Marine" concept. It is a fashion trend that is actually very controversial because it is taking a military service uniform and semi sexualizing it (this is also objective) as well as using it for entertainment purposes when it is supposed to be worn as a badge of honor for service men and women. However that's another issue for another time, they didn't "invent" it. Their stylists most likely took inspiration from seeing military bands playing to keep the soldiers' morale up during times of service to the nation. The military band groups perform in their uniforms which is where the "concept" came from. Except now it has become a symbol of fashion.
