The 2019-20 PGA TOUR continues with The American Express. Phil Mickelson is back in action for the first time since November's WGC-HSBC Champions event, this time as the official tournament host. Hoping to stand in his way are Rickie Folwer, who returns to the California desert for the first time since 2014, and Francesco Molinari, who makes his 2020 debut. Also teeing it up in the star-studded field are International Presidents Cup team members Byeong Hun An, Abraham Ancer and Sungjae Im. With 500 FedEx Cup points up for grabs, who will come out on top?

People forget what a historic, monumental individual season in golf this shaped up to be. He led the US Open thru 70 holes after winning the Masters (the one where he three-putted from 4 feet on the 17th), one shot off the playoff at the British, two-shots off the playoff at the PGA. The man was literally 4 strokes from a calendar Grand Slam. I know no one ever remembers the second finisher but this is one of those years where it's fun to think about. Just another reason why Phil is every bit as once-in-a-lifetime as Tiger, Masters: 3 wins, a runner up and 5 top-3 finishes.. there was a 15 year span where he finished below 7th twice! He has 11 major runner-ups and 23 top-3 finishes. I think we take this kind of consistency for granted in an age where anyone can have a good 3-5 years. But can they compete at the highest level for two decades and achieve the kind of hall of fame heights?
