For those having an error creating a new database connection in SQL Developper(Status failure test io error the network adapter could not established the connection connection ): 0- Make sure you have the right credentials. Normally, a program named SQL Plus should be installed along oracle express 21c. You can open it by pressing windows + type in SQL Plus. It looks like the command line (cmd) when you open it up. There, you can connect to your oracle express database, and it's a great way to know if your credentials are correct. I'm not sure if SQL Developper will tell you that your credentials are wrong, but SQLPlus surely will. 1- Make sure that Oracle RDEBMS kernel Executable is running in task manager (it should take a lot of ram). It runs by default when you open windows, after you installed oracle express. If it's not running, restart your computer. It might fix it, and I have no other way of getting it to boot (tell me if you know please). 2- Open the command line (or windows powershell) and type: lsnrctl start Wait a little for the connexion to happen. It should write a bunch of lines in the commande line saying it worked. If it didn't, again, make sure that oracle RDEBMS kernel Executable is running. 3- It could be a weird firewall settings on your pc. This is a great video on starting to use Oracle. The only problem I had is that I don't have an ORACLE_HOME environment variable set. I know how o create it, but 2 questions: 1. What path goes in it, and 2. Is it a user or system variable? Thanks!

Before installation getting started. It asked me to remove Oracle 21C .. Once I selected Remove, it started removing the Oracle software components, which took approx 10 mins

@@marioantoniosaviano1720 i encountered 2 problems. 1 was solved by running as administrator so make sure to do that. Second was solved by above step. It was a listener problem which got fixed by the "C:\> lsnrctl start." command.
I successfully executed all steps exactly as explained in the video (except that I replaced user "System" with another user name such as "selenium" and also that during the install process, I do not recall specifying password "hr" for "user "HR", but accepted "hr" as password when installing the HR schema. However, when I started executing the SQL script, I kept getting prompts for passwords, etc. which are not mentioned in the video. It may be noted that initially, I made the mistake of running the script with all SQL files without mentioning the ".sql" suffix and later rerun the script including all file names with the ".sql" suffix, and noticed that the same error messages appeared. I came here for installation to Learn oracle. Installation everything gone successful even hr schema also executed. But can you explain what the term hrscema mean why we used to execute.
HR schema is not mandatory, this is just for practicing SQL queries, for anyone who is working on a database need to have sample data. Instead of creating tables, inserting data etc.. HR schema is a ready made sample database. That is why I suggested to execute HR SQL script Hope I gave clear information about HR Schema

That indicates that already 21c is already installed on your machine

Firstly give credentials in case sensitive
Next, you can run that .SQL script as many times as you can
After execution check the hr scema
If choose default location there is a message shows: The provided destination folder has invalid character. Verify and try again
Please avoid special characters and proceed with installation

HR is a schema, which is very helpful for practice purpose especially for beginners, that's why we install or unlock hr schema
