    quick tip for everyone, when lining up edges if you want them perfect, select the verts and hold v, you can snap them to the exact location of another vert on any axis

    Downloaded a trial of Maya about 4 days ago along with a Udemy "beginners" Course on Maya and Z Brush. I just didn't get it and after a while just got fed up. After finding your tutorials, I have to say it instilled new confidence in me and I now feel more motivated. I have never used Mya before and have already created the bridge perfectly, and even had the cheek to do a few bits slightly different as I found it easier. Many many thanks for helping.

      Look at this tutorial after you have used maya for a year or more and see how long winded this actually is... Ouch this hurt watching this after modeling for a couple of years no scale tool use for aligning vertices, no use of clusters to find center of mesh, no snap to grid, no project to center. this model should take less than 5 minutes ... Mike has come a long way since this novice tutorial.

    Great video, but I wonder how you go about doing the UVs and connecting each piece together without creating issues with smoothing?

    I just followed this step by step and it was great. It is like a workout for my Maya skills. Thank you Mr. Hermes!

    Brilliant stuff. I like the custom handles too. Is that industry standard to create custom handles? Learning a lot from these short videos. Thanks Mike.

    Great video, as always Mike.
    For the caps, If I have such a situation, I would change the pivot. I snap it to a vert of the cap, then I can snap it to a vert of that pole. Or, if the pole doesn't have the same dimensions, I use the multicut tool. to make a cross on the top of the pole, so I have 1 vert in the center, then I would snap the cap to that vert, and then delete that cross on the pole.

    Why don’t you use the mirror tool?

    Do you add beveled edges for smoothing purposes, or holding edges for proper deformation when rendering?

    great tutorial. I followed it and made the exact same looking bridge. But for the life of me i can not seem to UV it in maya lol. Ive been able to do each piece using planar but when i try to use layout, poof it throws them all over.

    Nice video. In the part with the multi cut you created an Ngon, should that be fix or are some ok to keep.

    What are your grid settings? I am trying to get mine to the right settings, but they always revert back to Maya's original.

    Hi! I have an few questions, do you need to always smooth your objects? And if you smooth an object can you use the bevel tool instead of the edge loop tool?

  • @ManiX207
    @ManiX207 4 роки тому

    the question now is ... how does one ad more divisions for the texturing xD (there any othere way then adding tones of edgeloops for not loseing shape whilst adding more divions?

    • @tiernanstevens117
      @tiernanstevens117 3 роки тому

      I know this is 8 months late- but there's minimal reason you should be modelling your detail in/adding extra to something like this. It would be through texture work- which isn't dependent on "extra edgeloops" at all. You'd be using things like height maps/normal maps etc for that kind of detail. You're painting that detail. Not modelling.

    Why do we need to delete and duplicate ? Can we can do the same process on the other side. Selecting extrude and then pulling it out. ?

    • @puppy3908
      @puppy3908 6 років тому +1

      Yes, but for example if your model was ten times more complicated you'd want to save time by Delete and duplicate

    10:37 You literally recreating the shape you already have down below. You could have duplicated the top faces of the foundation and extruded them up.

      The intention is to get people to model as much as possible. Once they have that we will talk about speed, efficiency, pipeline and workflow, shortcuts, hotboxes. This is a tutorial channel not a "get it done in 10 minutes or else" channel. I choose this pace on purpose
