Good afternoon Raph I have been hoovering up some of your older videos and this one hit the KAPOW button! Great pup, great Video. I am a champion Grand Dog minder these days! Great fun! It was great to see Enemy ace Up there. My number one DC Character, make that all time comiccharacter. he couldn't be done by any but Joe Kubert, that man did some great work, and so prolific. My second all time favoutrite is G I Combat featuring the Haunted tank. I got into them heavily as a kid, and locked into them straight away! Cheers Al The Goldkeyfourcolorkidownunda
Hi Al, I'm glad you found this episode, as it's one of my favorites! Glad to hear you're a dog minder as well - they certainly keep you on your toes. DC published a lot of fine War titles in their time, and Enemy Ace was also my favorite. I haven't read too many Haunted Tank stories, but one I need to investigate is the Sgt. Rock/Mlle. Marie/Jeb Stuart story that was recommended to me. So many comic books, so little time.
Good afternoom Raph Indeed time is the enemy of all Readers, The Robert Kanigher Joe Kubert team took storytelling past a point that was ever appreciated fully. Gritty, realistic and no doubt explored the ethos of the eternal warrior. Cheers Al
Loved this one. Of course The Hammer of Hell is one of my favourites and I've loved this story for a while, but DD is my main man and I'm intrigued by your comments on the Fanfare story (an out of the way issue I'll be on the lookout for). Now my mind is whirling about why the heck DD never had a seeing eye dog sidekick or extended story line -- such a natural.
Bill Mantlo was the writer for the DD story and it's only a 10 page story, but a very emotional one! The first story does feature a Hulk/Blob fight, maybe the only time they fought?
As a dog owner and comic collector, I really appreciate this video. I too was not an immediate fan of Joe Kubert but I became one later. His work on Tarzan was amazing.
This is one of my favorite videos that I've made so far - a big reason being a dog owner. I probably shouldn't have shown those Lassie comic books as I noticed the viewing statistics just dropped off after that. Kubert's Tarzan was amazing, especially if you ever get those Treasury sized versions to read through!

As a life long dog owner, the bond is real. Great spotlight.
It's hard to understand until you become a dog owner. Thanks for watching!
