Just so everyone knows, you don’t have to kill the moth to get silk. Most large scale factories do it because it’s easier but you can either wait for the moth to emerge or you can cut the cocoon at a certain point to get the moth out safely without getting fluids on the silk.

I wish sparing the lives of the little silk moths was the status-quo across the board. All humans do is take take take. Seems the least they could do in instances such as these where, you'll notice the narrator calling the interventional act of "Harvesting," is choose mercy over murder. It may take a little longer but hey, at least my conscious would be clear. A life is a life.

@@Andain_83we kill way more bugs just by building roads, houses, and other infrastructures. Bugs are barely different from let’s say a plant, they are not really conscious beings. The silk worms are killed but they are also massively bred, so death creates life also, if it weren’t for that silk worms would probably go extinct. It’s also not true that killing the cocoon is just “easier” that’s why they do it. Because now everything is automated. The reason is it makes for superior quality fabric because the strand would be longer and more continuous. “Peace silk” never got the attraction for a reason: the resulting silk fabrics are considered lesser quality, meaning lower consistency, lesser shine, more bumpy instead of smooth etc.

a lot of this is incorrect or a ai's version of a text on silk, that when it says is explaining a process, skips between processes to give wrong information, pity the person who uses this information as correct
