It’s very cool seeing the different options in the industry. It’s such a young industry, we are bound to many advancements we never saw coming. You explained the value of these very well!
That MU v Arsenal game was epic! One of my favorite things about the solid bar is how compact and easy it is for travel. Also nice to use on head, body, and beard.
I always have a beard wash bar . One in travel bag and a liquid. At home there’s 1-2 in the shower and 3 different liquid wash and 2 different conditioners.
Personally they've really grown on me, to rotate between with a liquid wash. First one I bought was the one by Beard Octane for my trip to Disney world, to make travel easier. Now I also have two by The Bearded Mack. Not only does a little go such a long way, but it's one of the best ways to wash my hair too. It makes my hair and scalp look and feel pretty solid. The lather is CRAZY. I love them.
@DanCBearded and I still might just look into the Johnnie Ray one anyways for the sheer fact that it has that OOMF to it, for when I don't want a full strip!
That bearded Mac wash bar is identical to the wnh other than its .5 ounces smaller. Just as high-quality and wonderful. I like it so much, I’ve yet to try a different brand .
My go to are wash bars. I’ve tried Beard Octane and WNH. My go to is the Magnanimous wash bar. It works the best with my beard. Just started using Johnnie Rays liquid wash and it’s awesome. The whole company is great. Nate’s also a good person.
Per your suggestion, I've incorporated a solid beard wash bar onto my rotation twice a week. I enjoy the ease of use and often lament the this is a never ending wash. Two thumbs up.
Hi Dan, I’m a business student completing my BBA, and a big fan of your channel! I have an idea that might help you grow your audience and connect with more like-minded beardsmen. Your videos already have amazing content, but here’s a quick suggestion: after filming, consider creating a 1-2 minute summary of the video (maybe on your phone), highlighting the key points. You could wrap it up with something like, “If you’re curious to learn more, I just posted a full video titled [insert title] on my UA-cam channel, Dan C Bearded.” Posting these summaries on TikTok, Instagram Reels, and UA-cam Shorts could attract a lot of new viewers to your channel. A little effort here can go a long way in reaching more people who will love your content (just like I do)! We can go into more detail if you’d like. Keep up the great work-your videos are awesome!
Ive been using Johnny Rays bar soap for over 2yrs. It's fantastic. And yes I use it for head hair and Beard hair and sometimes full body. It's a great bar for everyday use if you choose to. Check this Johnny's Beard Bar wash out.
I just had to throw one away from Bearded Mack 😢 it became liquified even though I keep them in the container that it comes with. Is that normal? I think water got into the container. I have had others with no issue, I love the convenience. Just wondering if storing it in the original container in the shower is best? Again this is for the Bearded Mack - the container that it comes in is convenient in itself. Thanks!
So I don’t keep it in the container it comes in because the air flow is restricted. I highly recommend a soap saver tray to keep it more solid and dry. I especially like the wire ones. I have ordered some off amazon
I love having a solid beard wash bar for travel and to rotate with a liquid wash. I still use the WnH tin which works perfectly for travel. I think The Bearded Mack uses them.
I use a small plastic bowl that fits on my shower shelf and drilled holes in it to drain water. I'm on my last bar of Grandfather's Pine Tar Soap that was recommended years ago by the "Sultan".
Mr Bearded, I do the same as you i dab my wash bar after using it. I like that the Bearded Mac wash bar comes in a tin. Easy to put it away and travel with.
Been using Professor Fuzzworthy's bar but will switch it up to Johnnie Ray just to give it a try. I have always used shampoo bars just because of the value that you get from them, they just can’t be beat.
I’ve used tame the wild beard soap bar and had good results. I bought a gentleman’s conditioner bar on Amazon that’s not specifically for the beard but reviews of it had a lot of guys saying it worked well on their beards so o gave it a shot. Has worked really well for me.
I really like the puck bars. The con for me is that aside from the Bearded Mack, I don't have any that came in or fit well in containers. The tins from BM are just the best IMO. As for soap savers, I switched from wood to carbon fiber. In a wet, humid environment it is not going to need upkeep/replacement like the wood does. I now have 2 because of the aforementioned con of some wash bars not coming in tins.... please solid wash bar having great products companies! Get the tins going please!!!!
I don’t use the tin after I open the wash bar. It stays on some sort of fabric soap saver out of the shower and when I go on vacation I don’t use it for a day and just throw it in a baggie.
I haven't yet tried a solid bar, but I've been considering it. I actually have more trouble with beard wash than any other beard product. By that, I mean I don't typically like most beard washes. In the years I've been using them, I've only found 3 that I enjoy, and two of those are the much cheaper Grave Before Shave and Duke Cannon. The other is Bad Ass Beard Care's stripping wash. Every time I spend the money with a new company that I like, I end up with an 8 oz bottle a wash that I literally hate going through. Fable, Live Bearded, Kingsmen, Hogwash... They all feel the same to me and I loathe every single use of them. They're not cheap though, so they get used anyway. The cheaper Duke Cannon and G B S are thicker and lather up so much better without that abrasive feeling I get from their more expensive, watery counterparts. I'm beginning to believe I just don't like high quality beard wash. If anyone has any suggestions for decent one please let me know. Good morning by the way...rant over. LoL Great videos as always.
I will say, the ones mentioned are from great companies but literally none of those washes made my top products list or are washes I use on a regular basis. I genuinely recommend the liquid beard wash from Johnnie ray, to the highest degree. I’m confident you would see a difference as compared to the ones you mentioned. And most of those are affiliates of mine, but wash just isn’t their highlight for me
I finally got a wash bar - my only gripe is that I have a harder time getting a good lather compared to liquid, but it rinses super easy and I took your queue and use it in my hair at the same time, so there's an efficiency boost in that area. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it and I'll likely try another brand's bar in the future.
Thanks for the video Dan. Informative as always. Some questions for ya: - If it sits on a soap saver or little wire rack and gets splashed regularly, will it break down? - Is there a notable difference in beard when using these vs the liquid stuff? - Are the bars generally a little more stripping than the liquid, or is that specific to Johnnie Ray?
1) I have not experienced that happening 2) no, in beard is great for both high quality liquid and solid 3) the little more stripping was specific to JR
I'm completely addicted to beard wash bars. I use Beard Octane and Bearded Mack and they're both amazing. It would be great if someone could do the same for conditioner!
Love both of those! The problem with the conditioner bar is applying it without getting the conditioner down to the skin. So you can’t go bar to beard. However, you could work it in your hand and then to the beard hairs
Hi Dan, i am in my 70’s and growing a beard for the first time in 40 years. My beard hair is very white and soaks up beard oil like a sponge and feels dry very quickly. Is this normal for white hair?
Yes, very normal. You likely want tk look for thicker oils. Take a look at the company below. They free samples as well. Artius Man= tinyurl.com/4t4m5www * DANC20 = 20% off
I work as a mechanic and deal with a lot of auto chemicals/oils. Would you suggest the Jonnie Ray Solid Beard Wash as a daily wash or every other day wash? Atm I use a liquid wash and conditioner 3 times a week with a stripping wash on Friday. Thanks for any insight!!
Sounds good. I'm about to try out True Norths Wicked Pine Tar for my stripping day as well. Thanks again for your insight. Love your vids! Always learning something new!
NJ Devils called and they want their hockey puck back. I’m too used to Dr Nicks beard wash to make the flip. I’m a stubborn old man. What can I say. Ohh update.. I bought a curling iron to see if I can get some waves going in my beard just to switch things up a little. Seems to do the trick.

Same! It’s the perfect rotation for me

Great explanation Dan!
Thank you!
You always seem to put out a video on something that’s been on my mind. I’ve been considering trying a wash bar. Always on point sir. ❤
I love some good timing!

Loved the Whiskey & Hardtack solid beard wash. Going to check out Johnnie Ray now that my WH is about gone. Thanks Dan
That’s awesome! The bearded Mack actually makes the old WnH style wash bar. They purchased the formulation from them

That’s actually a pretty cool look.
For sure!
Another big plus is that it doesn't come in a plastic bottle. We need to be more conscious and responsible about plastic usage
Very good point!

@@DanCBearded it's nothing against those companies. I actually really enjoy all of them which is why I tried their washes.
@@j.m.4858 no doubt about it! Never took it in a bad way at all
I like the Fuzzworthy’s bar
The one with wax in it?

Oh interesting! I haven’t noticed any difference with lather, but that could have to do with the different water tables and even brands
Been washing about once a week with Grandpas Pine Tar soap bar. Good to strip residual oil etc. Also great for daily body washing.
I strip the beard once a week as well, but gentle wash the other 6 days
I use a solid beard wash bar by far the most
that is great!

any thoughts on rosemary beard wash bar?
is that a brand?
So you rub it straight on the beard, instead of rubbing on the hands to lather up?
I do, yes. Bar to beard 💪
@ thanks, I’ll start doing that, I was lathering up my hands then on to beard, thanks again.
I like the look with out the hat
Cool, thanks!

Bearded Mack has a great bar.
Love the Honest Amish beard wash bar
so that is a soap and not a wash bar. Much higher and harsher pH level. I love that soap but wouldn't use it on the beard more than once a week
Does bar condition too? After use conditioner? Or just the bar and done.
It’s either way for me. Some days I will do wash only with the bar. Others I will follow with conditioner.
I like using beardbrand wash bar
I believe that is more of a soap
Hey Dan! What is a good brand of beard stripping wash that you would recommend?
Any bar soap or the stripping wash by deadman’s beard co
