  • Introducing the 2022 Prime Inline Compound Bow: bit.ly/3DpJwbR
    Prime ditched the parallel cam system this year to help reduce weight, reduce vibration, and bring simplicity to 2022 Inline cam system. As the cams begin to rotate, the cables move Inline with the string track, making this the first balanced single track cam system. This means more consistent arrow flight, and tighter groups! Be sure to stop by our pro shop to give these bows a try!

    Great review PJ, but really disappointed that Prime isn't offering a long draw option for 2022. I'm 31 inches with a caliper release, 31.5 with handheld, and I saw someone else post that they are 32 inches. I guess Prime felt there aren't enough long draw archers buying their bows to justify making them😥

    I've had no issues with noise with my Nexus 4. The same with my 2017 Centergy that I bought through Lancaster. I own a Nexus cuz the nano grip has the right feel & I live & hunt in MN. Both my Prime bows r quiet with a Conquest Control Freak stabilizer & an arrow setup that is over 550 grains. These new bows these days might not hit the IBO. However they won't dump speed when shooting an arrow with a heavier weight.

    I would equate this move to Mathews moving away from their solo cam bows (which put them on the archery map). Prime are nice bows, but you need to live near a dealer to have them serviced. My closest Prime dealer went out of business. The next closest one dropped the brand. I traveled 115 miles one way to have my free cables/string replaced last spring. I've been shooting the Prime Impact since 2013. I don't see myself ever replacing it. It's solid, accurate, quiet, & the speeds of compound bows haven't changed much at all the past 10 years or so. I can easily get 3-4 years out of the cables/string. I am on third set (2nd free ones) this year. The free cables/string for the lifetime of the bow is a nice perk even if you have to travel a distance to find a dealer. I can honestly say I wouldn't be as drawn to these new bows. Having to change out spacers doesn't sound appealing at all. I really like my solid limb, parallel cams with limb stops found on my Prime Impact, & it still slings arrows at the same speeds of today's newer compound bows. Some day the value of my cables/string replacements will surpass what I paid for the bow brand new.

      I couldn't agree more with your comment. I have the Centergy 33 and just like you, I have no reason to change. As a semi retired dual qualified Engineer, I remain of the firm view that the single limb, parallel cam combination is the most robust, torque free and consistantly accurate combination available. Prime have made a fatal mistake in departing from the original design concept, starting with the split limb Logic/CT series. As with, the subsequent Black and Nexus series, they were excellent bows, but their integral torque test results were inferior to the Centergy 33 and Centergy Hybrid. I could rattle on as to the technical reasons why, but It really doesn't matter...point is, I think your opinion is spot on.

    I've never understood things that "Shift" during a draw cycle because the inline only occurs at one point, full draw, but there's more to a draw cycle than just at full draw. Ie.the inline is going back to out of line once the shot is made.

    No spacer removal tool with the bow purchase, but they give you the extra spacers. That's a real dick move. That alone assures that I'll never buy a Prime bow. When their parallel cams came out, I knew those were going to be a huge pain-in-the-ass to work on, and make strings for. This lack of a tool is enough to make up my mind to not buy these Inline cam bows.
    I DO love my brand new 2018 Quest Thrive, though (my dealer had a few left new in the box and he sold it to me at cost). It's a simple design. I just had to flip the cam spacers left-to-right to shift the cams over for a perfect bullethole. It's also a rock-solid design and shooting lights. This bow is dead in the hand and extremely quiet.
    I like simple. KEEP IT SIMPLE, PRIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    It's funny...I went with a Nexus 6 this season (away from my Hoyt loyalty)...I originally wanted the PSE 34 EVL (which to me felt just as good as the Mathews...it was a toss up, but EVERYONE was buying the Mathews). Then the tech talked me into shooting the Prime. Walked out with it that day, and loved the fact it was different and held better with the smoothest draw cycle. I will definitely be checking out the Inline... hopefully it feels just as good. Maybe get the 3 as full time hunting bow and use my 6 for 3D exclusively.

    • @Midwstmauler
      @Midwstmauler 2 роки тому

      The dual cam was actually MUCH more prone to inaccuracies due to torque. Bigger surface area torquing more effect on the arrow itself. This will take away a lot of that user induced grip torque effect on the shot. It’s going to be quite a bit more forgiving in that aspect.

    • @willshunting
      @willshunting 2 роки тому +1

      @@Midwstmauler With the utmost respect, your comment is demonstrably incorrect. Independent testing done by Joe Marzulo showed the Prime dual cam bows had some of the very best results; the Centergy 33 being the only bow that gave zero torque. Single cam premium bows from companies such as Hoyt gave terrible results.
      ;

    • @Midwstmauler
      @Midwstmauler 2 роки тому

      @@willshunting correct. Done through a machine. When you add anything user induced outcomes become drastically different. I am specifically referring to user (human) induced torque at the shot. Read through some forums on AT about this specifically. I wasn’t saying prime is a bow prone to torque itself, I was simply stating that anything user induced imo is magnified with the parallel cam system. I love prime bows, and have shot them almost exclusively the last 5 years. I still believe moving to a single cam will fix many of the complaints in the bow having a “picky grip placement”.

    • @willshunting
      @willshunting 2 роки тому

      @@Midwstmauler Thank you for your patient clarification. As a qualified Engineer, I am a little puzzled as to how the parallel cams system would exacerbate poor bow hand position given that the string remains centred by the top and bottom yokes. In that connection, I would remind you, that irrespective of whether a bow is a dual or single cam based system, just after release of the D-loop at full draw, there are only two points of contact between the arrow and the bow that can translate torque ( be it integral design or inappropriate hand hold induced), those points being; arrow shaft/rest fork and arrow nock/string nock point. Moreover, once the drop away rest fork has disengaged from the shaft, only the subsequent arrow nock/string nock point contact is present to impart a torque induced lateral vector to the arrow nock until the nock disengaged off the knocking point. Thus, I can understand a suggestion that the Prime hold point design(s) might be 'fickle' (not something I've found), but I cannot see how the parallel cams would structurally and/or dynamically make any difference. All that said, I am open to being disabuse by any specific factors I'm overlooking. All the best and stay well.

    Sometimes I am simply amazed. Lets not forget older bows with hybrid cam systems or Overdrive binary. Just a pleasure to tune the bow. Wow technology is going backwards. 2 year old Hoyt hybrid cam easy to tune no need to dismantle. I have the feeling that Prime wants to commit a financial suicided . Man put yoks like like Bowtech / Hoyt older models or screws like Bowtech and Elite and forget about all this nonsense. Even Darton now has equlizer cams with yoks . PSE is bringing back yoks because they know nobody like to dismantle the bow to tune it. If Prime had no market shares before now they are completely done.
