I love Brass Construction. Randy Mueller was a beast! Last time I was in Florida I came home sounded similar to how you presently sound. Get well soon.
Good tag. That first Simply Red album doesn't often show up in the VC, but it's a fine album, and they were great in those early years. Couldn't help but notice Springsteen's'Tracks' box set in the shelves. A fine comp. Also, I can only imagine what it would have been like to see Earth, Wind & Fire in their heyday. Fantastic band. And did you know that Nona Hendryx toured with Peter Gabriel as support act. A powerhouse.
Excellent selections! Very cool records you covered. I agree on ATCQ...great group.... I have Midnight Marauders 1st and Low End Theory #2...LET is indeed a great album with no skips! Thanks for sharing!
Love your vinyltag video and really love your choices!! Simply Red, Chaka Khan and of course Elvis Costello!! Can't go wrong there! I'm new to your channel and can't watch to watch more content. I am new to the vinyl community and was inspired to do a channel as well. Just did a vinyl tag myself. Great video!
I'm late to the party here but I do hope you have had a speedy recovery. It's fantastic to see those Chaka Khan records. like your dinner guest invites! Great video tag for 2024. Some wonderful music shown.
Great list! Downloaded that Brick Construction! Also that Labelle album was just repressed by Vinyl Me Please. Coming in the mail! Really enjoy your takes on music!
Well done for soldiering through with a croaky voice! I'm giving you a shout out on my (forthcoming) vinyl tag. I need to give that Labelle album a listen.
Labelle's "What Can You Do For Me?" is one of my all time favorite dance jams... whenever Larry spun ít at the Garage, which was often, my friends and I went nuts!!!
@@djvinylvertigo We were both Crisco kids and Garage guys! Other favorites of mine back in the day were Better Days, Mudd Club, Cockring and Hurrah among many others....the choices we had back then were unsurpassed. If only we could turn back the hands of time!
@@timothyrogers5810 Wow!! Better Days?!!! Now you're talkin'!!! We are kindred!! How about The Loft, Stix, Danceteria and The Tunnel? I was featured dancer @ Palladium and Limelight!!
@@djvinylvertigo The stories we could tell! Where was Stix? I remember the name and not much else, except that the music was jammin'!....anyway as a NYC club kid of the 70's and 80's I experienced every place you mentioned and having this conversation it strikes me how lucky we were to be part of that place and time, arguably the most vital in terms of music culture/influence! I liked hole in the walls as well, like Nickelbar and Peter Rabbit.
@@timothyrogers5810 Stix was on 38th and 2nd. I also remember The Monster and The Ice Palace, The Saint, Area, La Esqulita, Uncle Charlie's, China Club, etc. Crowbar in the East Village. And the was the place The Circus in midtown. And of course, Flavors. China Club. Black Market (House Music club). Red Zone & Meat. Mars. There's more, they slip my mind right now. Soul Kitchen!!
Me and a mate had a record outlet in Afflecks Palace in Manchester, UK in the 80's and 90's. We specialised in soul from the 60's and 70's. Mick Hucknall often popped in. He was into deep soul of the slow southern variety. His fave artist was Bobby Bland. Think he made an album of Bland covers some years back. A friend of mine is Tony Davidson. He managed Mick when he was performing as the Frantic Elevators
Oops ! The Elevators were kinda punk. So one day Mick plays a Tony song he's written "Holding back the years" and Tony says what's that dull rubbish. Fell out and there was Tony's future payday up in smoke.
I agree that Costello is the very best of his albums. VMP is reissuing Nightbirds. I think I canceled it since I can buy an OG a whole lot cheaper. Hope Rick Rueben’s makes it to your party lol. Hope you feel better soon
Vinyl tag introducing me to soon many other vc channels. Feel better. I threw my back so doing it was tough for me just because I couldn't pull most of them. Be careful. Other bugs are floating around bad ones and in this state you would be more susceptible. Stay in. Get rest.
If you bought Stevie Wonder at 15, you were definitely a cooler teenager than I was (although I was listening to a lot of Elvis Costello). Get well soon, man. The VC needs you.

Great tag. I love that Lady Blackbird release. Fantastic Marvin Gaye and Elvis Costello picks.
Thank you!

Another crazy punk rock record. I've got one on my list, too. Great video. Feel better.
