    I put that same blower on my old GT6000 Craftsman. I had a different horizontal pulley setup so I ditched the mule and use my electric clutch. It throws snow pretty good. Mine kept spitting the very long auger belt that transitions from horizontal to vertical at the blower. Terrible design, when you adjust the tension if that pulley is off 1/8 inch either way it spits it. I added an idler pulley to fix that. No more belt spitting.

      @HillOrStream 4 роки тому

      You mean an additional idler pulley? Where did you mount it?

    • @L2fish
      @L2fish 4 роки тому +3

      @@HillOrStream There is a bar midway with a tab that stuck up between the belts. I mounted it to that splitting the difference so the bottom belt angled straight to the vertical pulley.

    You were fortunate that everything lined up. I put an MTD 42" blower on a good sized Husky lawn tractor and it was quite the challenge to get everything to work, but both were MTD brands so with a little inventiveness it worked, but I keep that unit strictly for blowing snow, too hard to remove and reinstall. It'll be interesting to see how your blower works. Nice how to video.

      By Husky, do you mean Husqvarna? Because the Husqvarnas that I am familiar with are made by AYP, not MTD. Thanks for watching!

      @@RealManSkills No sorry I spelled it wrong, it is a Huskee I believe TSC sold it. It was made by MTD. Not a Husqvarna.

    Nice, but whenever you engage the PTO, idle down the engine, then you can speed up the engine, it's easier on the clutch assembly, otherwise, nice job!

    Perfect video as Im working on a project right now on mounting this snowblower to a parts tractor with a similar frame. I snapped a rear axel last week so I bought a frame and transaxle for a GT and I spent a few hours yesterday swapping engines and such (taking two partial tractors and making one good one). The last half hour was spent on looking at the bracket placement along with taking measurements to make sure the drive belt will still work properly once its set up, especially since I swapped engines and this is my first time. That snowblower really works amazing btw. Thanks for the vid! Its really going to help me out with afternoon! Where the chains for the front lift springs original with the snowblower? I dont have those and was just curious on that.

      Thanks for watching. According to the owners manual that I got with this "used" snowblower, the springs came with it.

    I need to know how to mount. I've got a 44 inch snowblower for the front of my 98 Craftsman with a 22 horse. I want to find if somebody has got extra mounting brackets for it so I could see if I can mount it. You know as a all year round mounts so when snow comes I can put the snowblower on it

      Start by going to searspartdirect.com and entire your model numbers. You can also do an internet search for the owner's manual for the snowblower. It should have part numbers.

    Very good video. I like the block of wood trick. Can anybody tell me whats the purpose of the little chains and springs on each side of the blower?

    • @RealManSkills
      @RealManSkills  4 роки тому

      I believe they are "helper" springs, to assist in lifting the weight of the snowblower unit. The block of wood trick is actually mentioned in the owner's manual. I can't take credit for that. Thanks for watching!

    Hello Scott, or anyone with one of these. I have the same blower as you have here but It did not come with any mounting brackets. I wonder if you could give me some rough sizes to work with. I am a fabricator but I would love a dimension or two to start with. For instance, on the rear mounting bracket (the one with the forked end) what is the distance from the nearest hole to the throat of the v? and how high above the hole center is the throat? And on the rear mounting bracket (the one that holds the notch) how far from the holes to the pin? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      @@RealManSkills The guy who mentioned the extra idler pulley got my attention--the blower drive belt IS an issue--I replied to HIS reply, hoping he can send me a pic of his "fix"--that unit is a beast, when it's running correctly! I'm gonna install it on a 2006 Husqvarna tractor, (my '97 Craftsman broke the rear axle, on the left side) with a 13 hp Kawasaki twin. It will be my "assist" device, at that point; going to use IT, to clear snow banks on the sides of where I plow, with a snow plow setup I'm getting, for one of my K1500 trucks, before next Winter. It will allow me to keep my driveway & 1/2 mile stretch of road open, without the sides "creeping in," over the course OF the Winter... I'm using that little Husky, with a 42" blade, wheel weights and chains, for NOW--it's doing what I need, but I want to "upgrade" my program! lol
