Ever since I saw the trailer months ago I've been intrigued to watch. I'm not even a Wes Anderson fan this film is just such a unique idea and the footage already of the film makes me want to watch.

You know, reading on cartoonbrew how there are concerns as to whether or not the film will leave behind lasting impression, it is safe to say that Isle of Dogs is doomed because it's not going to change America's attitude towards animation overnight.
Ulysses432 There is an article on cartoonbrew that expresses concerns as to whether Isle of Dogs will help Americans understand that animation is an art form, not a genre. Reading from there article shows that Isle of Dogs is doomed to failure, especially considering that has face off against Pacific Rim Uprising and Sherlock Gnomes.
In part its hard to do without both the bigger marketing, or even a release. As it is right now I just found out despite my interests, it's not anywhere near my area on it's supposed release. A place like NYC will obviously have it playing, but theaters or distributors decide not to carry it because of estimates or just not caring, it's likely going to stay small and look bad. Likewise nobody is really talking about it. There's just not enough stuff of it out there, and even on the internet, I have to go looking for it or searching for it to get news and info about it... and I only knew to begin with as a Wes Anderson fan. There's plenty of times where I see some oddball animated movie on Netflix or at Target I never heard of, likely for the same reason that it wasn't Disney/Sony/Illumination, and thus it wasn't going to be promoted, carried, or discussed. This is the big deal on what's holding a lot of animated stuff back. It's not that america really hates it or anything, there's also a lot of live-action flops and weird projects that just go nowhere, but rather it's just that there's less quality animations (last year the theatrical amount could be nearly fit on a top 10 list) around and only a couple companies will actually make it known, so it looks like the industry is a failure outside of Disney. Even Disney themselves have proven this to be true whenever they have something they just don't promote, like the last 2D pooh movie.
Fun Fact: The cartoonbrew article I just mentioned goes into subject matter that is very annoying to many people within animation community. The last major instance the subject matter was brought up is when Big Hero 6 defeated a wide range of animated films at the 2015 Academy Awards.

Jackson Because there is a scene where a white girl educates Japanese people on why they should treat dogs better, embracing the stereotypes of Asian people mistreating dogs and white people saving them (I don’t agree with this view, but I’ve seen it a lot online)
