I think the “filler” part of the diorama does add value to the set in the sense that it completes the scene and makes it just that bit more lively. However, these sets are grossly overpriced because Lego knows that people are going to buy them anyways.

I'm in the UK and the exchange rate is favourable on this set; sometimes its the opposite. Lastly the aftermarket tells us that these sets are reasonable investment potential too. All this drives sales
Agreed. I think all the parts included add to the set and it is an amazing looking completed package. I think the real problem is the “fancy box tax” that Lego has been introducing lately
The combined version looks so much better. It actually feels like a complete scene. The fallen tree adds character to the scene, which is missing in the official set.
Damn you Josh, i am really not a fan of the star wars dioramas in general, and the new endor sets didnt speak to me either. BUT seeing your moc here with the two combined looks really great and now i am considering doing the same. Fortunately here in Germany some Retailers have it already down from 80€ to about 60€, which is better for that price per piece ratio and also my wallet.
that black box raises the price of all these dioramas by like 20 dollars. every comparable non-SW set elsewhere is 20 dollars less than the SW diorama. I am also not a fan at all of the diorama prices so take that as you will.
I agree, it’s crazily priced. Fortunately I had a lot of VIP points also I- like you- bought two of these sets and hence qualified for all the SW day GWPs. So after the points and selling the GWPs I basically got two endor speeder chase sets for the price of one. All just so I could make the set how LEGO should have made it in the first place. Including Ewoks would’ve been silly but at the very least they should have included 2 Scout Troopers and their speeder bikes NOT one scout trooper. I mean in the film the Scout Troopers operate in pairs, first Luke and Leia are chasing 2 and then 2 more troopers join the fray. Hell even the quote tile would make more sense having TWO scout troopers, it say jam THEIR com signal after all not jam his- plural not singular. And if you’re gonna add an extra trooper and bike the base needs to be bigger. I ended up not needing any more pieces and had a load leftover but in my version of the set I have Luke and Leia on one bike chasing two scout troopers on their bikes and had a lot more scenery including a downed tree trunk in the path of the chasers and the chased (something you see in the film). 07:25 Well you could’ve gotten the Scout Trooper from the 4+ ATST set, but that’s still 30 bucks! Although here in the U.K. I’ve found that set on discount recently for a third the RRP. So I bought four of them, sold the wicket and imperial officer minifigures and kept the troopers and the rest of the pieces and actually made a profit! 08:46 think they’re supposed to be redwoods, as the scene was shot in the California Redwood forest, same place George’s mate Steven shot ET! 09:26 HOLY SHIT! That’s literally what I did! Or very similar at least!
My favorite part of the dioramas is expanding them. I have only bought the trench run and dagobah sets but I expanded both and truly enjoyed making them bigger, more detailed, and more movie/scene accurate. I have also only ever bought them on sale, I got dagobah for $58. Will follow the same path for the remaining diorama sets, when they hit 25-30% off I'll grab it and then have fun building and expanding it. Trash compactor is the only one I don't see expanding. Throne room I want to add in the walkways, expand the command modules, and add in royal guards.
Wow, this set is just a glorified flower box with two cool speeder bikes thrown in the middle, like there's not even a proper backdrop there to make the scene feel more like an actual forest, just two blocky trees out in the open and some shrubs on the ground

I think a big problem is Star Wars fans. They lap this stuff up straight away and that shows Lego that they can rip them off and they'll take it. If they were to wait for sales or just not buy them, Lego would get the message. But that won't happen with Star Wars
I totally agree that the Indiana Jones sets are better value for money. The one you showed in this video is really worth its price. But even that can be improved by expansion and by the same logic as your Mega Endor (only much cheaper, as the base set is already cheaper). Case in point : I bought two "Escape from the Tomb" sets (Indiana Jones) and did build a more complete tomb (with 4 Anubis statues, a bigger mummy mausoleum, two walls and a four-post Ark canopy... It looks definitely better!
Hi just bought this and the throne room diorama on heavy discount in uk (£41.99 Endor and £55.99 throne room) to pick both up for this cheap felt great, I feel my patience paid off😂 however now tempted to buy a second after seeing the moc you made, having both scout troopers looks great
As is it's at least $30 over priced. For $80 it needs an additional Scout Trooper with Speederbike and a bigger display base. Also better Luke and Leia MiniFigures. I would have had the downed tree that Leia meet Wiket on the back side so you can display it from multiple directions.

I've been thinking that, if I were to by this diorama (when it goes on sale) I would add a Wicket minifig, and add a fallen tree. Now that I've seen yours I realize that would probably only clutter up this already too small set. Yours looks great. This set should have been about 1-2 inches wider, included an Ewok and the fallen tree to equal it's cost.
Oh man how much has the quality of the video (every aspect of it) improved since I last saw you! And yet, you haven't lost any of the character. About the set, I pretty much agree with some of your points. Buuut I'm one of those who like terrain, I always liked dioramas in general and that's why I like these Lego dioramas... but I have none, because they're way too overpriced. The only exception being the Tallneck set, that one is so cool that it made me buy the game to justify getting it.

The existence of this set is the literal epitome of not seeing the forest for the trees so I don't think you're out on a limb on this one. At that price, this set leaves a lot to be desired. I don't think someone's a sap for buying it of course but I think there's a good chance that someone is a Star Wars nut if they do. Personally, I think LEGO is barking up the wrong tree if they think this is a fair price. You can always hedge your bets and wait for a sale if you truly are pining for one. However, if you miss it, you will just have fallen for LEGO's FOMOsynthesis.

7:12 there are other options for getting the figures though (as the luke is coming out in a childrens book), but everyone seems to be upset that it means they arent exclusive anymore. Id much prefer that all minifigures became more easily available (like the 212th troopers in the magazine) and they weren't all locked behind a massive price point
This diorama does indeed feel like a ton of extra cost for stuff you don’t even want, but I don’t feel that way for all dioramas. Yoda’s house on Dagobah and the new Emperor’s Throne Room are excellent, I love every bit of them.
The extra parts are the very reason I love the Dioramas. With Yoda's hut for example, earlier versions would just be the hut and a small bush or branch to "represent" the swamp. With the Diorama version, there is a real swamp, no cut corners. I wouldn't care for a set with two bikes and a small bush to represent a tree. Now they are exactly the way I would build a MOC and that's why I love them.
I felt the Yoda's hut lacked scale. His hut is supposed to be small under giant trees. With the small amount of swamp trees/greenery in the diorama his hut looks too big. I expanded the base of the diorama to allow a single large tree and it made the build and scale so much better
On the battle packs Lego can't sell the figures by themselves because of weird licensing issues. Because Hasbro has the exclusive license for action figures Lego has to include the side builds in order to not infringe. It is also why there has never been a Star Wars CMF series. Even though that would be easy money for Lego. As far as the content of this video is concerned, I actually don't care at all about the dioramas. I am not really a big Star Wars fan. What I actually am interested in is the fern and tree parts. But not at $80. If this were a 40 to 60 dollar set it might be on my radar for that. But since it is $80 and I personally don't care about the minifigures this is one I will wait for a sale on.

I like the set. Yes, it’s overpriced; but most sets are overpriced, particularly Star Wars. I certainly wouldn’t have bought the bikes by themselves. I bought it to break up the monotony of grey in my Star Wars Lego display. The contrast of colours seemed appealing. Simple, yet dynamic. I’m not really into minifigures. I enjoy the build and how something presents. I think the throne room is more overpriced. Take away the mini figures, and it’s just a dull piece of grey plastic.
I actually really like this set and I don't have an issue with the price point. I wouldn't be interested in a £20 set which just had the speeders and minifigs. However I think it would be good if Lego offered the bikes and minifigs separately in a cheaper set to cater to different consumers and price points. That combined set does look great though, I'm now tempted to buy two of these, not just one.
If Lego included Ewoks it would’ve been strange, it’s always nice to get more figs but they don’t exactly fit in the scene. Also 6-8 Ewoks is WAY too much.

3:24 I love the 18+ display sets because they make me smile when I walk past them and given stress is currently trying to kill me that is a good thing... But that one screams $50, $60 max not $80... It like the think the figs and the fact they put 18+ on it makes it worth that... Not to mention the figs suck and should be in an 8+ $20 or under set not this... Like I think all the 18+ star wars sets are over priced in current year... So I only get them with promos attached or on sale... Like I just built my duel on madlore set and it's perfect as a Lego star wars set! But even then it should have been $10 not $20.Edit: I'm a Progressive Republican Censtrist Moderate by the way...
