Blayke's Story

  • Days after being born, it was clear that Blayke had beaten remarkable odds. That’s because she was born with a rare chromosomal disorder, called Turner syndrome, which has a 99 per cent mortality rate in utero.
As a result of her condition, Blayke has experienced a host of health problems-from heart defects to autoimmune disorders. While Blayke may never be able to conquer Turner syndrome fully, she fights every day to make sure it doesn’t stop her from being her.

I have Turner Syndrome. I had a valve replacement in 2011 and am in great health. As long as she is monitored carefully by the necessary specialists she will be able to live a healthy life. She is a true butterfly 🦋

yea but as an adult with turner syndrome, everyone forgets that child when you’re older and everyone sees you as a freak with a webbed neck. people are cruel. body positivity is a hoax.

@@Mal00fNYC you're right, body positivity is nonsense. But I strongly believe in being decent to people and treating someone the way I want to be treated. Anybody who wants to treat someone different or lesser because of looks or something they can't help, needs to either grow up or be subjected to their own medicine. I was raised and I'm raising my kids to make decisions and treat people based off content of character and the Golden rule.

@@Mal00fNYC and I agree, people can be cruel. it's something we can't change, only accept and confront.

This story is so sad I can't imagine her in that poor state and I was so shocked when I heard that one lung had collapsed and the other was starting to.
    I'm happy she's ok now
4 years old and having open heart surgery that's shocking 😔😔💔😔😔💔
God bless her soul and heart

I’m crying as I’m watching this I’ve had a really bad past it all started with really bad stomach pain but not a typical stomach pain it felt as if someone was stabbing my stomach my parents took me for a check up and the doctors thought it was just an eating disorder a few months later I couldn’t even swallow liquids so my parents took me to my family doctor they took to me north York general and they thought I was Constipated a few weeks went by it just got worse and worse they discharged me from north York general (Toronto) they gave my parents a meal plan on how to keep me healthy again It was hard for me to keep anything down so my family doctor wanted to meet me and my mom at sick kids they thought I had eating disorder but my mom told them that she could tell it’s not eating disorder so they told me that I’m gonna have to be in the hospital and there gonna have to do some X-rays for my stomach so the next day I got an x-ray and a few hours later they found out that I had SMA Syndrome is a gastro-vascular disorder in which the third and final portion of the duodenum is compressed between the abdominal aorta (AA) and the overlying superior mesenteric artery. So I couldn’t eat for 3 months other then what they feed me from the feeding tube and now I’m slowly working on gaining weight it’s hard for this was back in December 2017

Some of your symptoms sound like what I have called gastroparesis where your stomach is essentialy paralyzed. Which for me causes my stomach to move very slowly and if the food stays too many days there or I over do it I will vomit it all up. I also have trouble absorbing vitamins because my food sits in one place.
