I can't quite pin-point when I chose a creative life for me, but there were many creative folks in my childhood that really changed me. Like one time I was drawing on the train (I was about 11), someone sitting beside me actually encouraged my random doodles. Without the support from other creatives, I wouldn't have had the will to pursue art. And I think a lot of us artists grew up not being understood by adults, or given adequate attention from parents, to fuel such a strong desire to be heard. There were several creatives in my family, yet, most of them didn't do it as a main means of income (god, I'm not sure if they even made money). Its silly though, a great artist has skills that can be applied in an effective manner in a range of areas. A real shame artists get discouraged, its almost as if you got to be willing to "starve to death" to prove them wrong.
