Even as a mediocre bassist, i can safely say that this groove requires a player capable of speeds equal (or greater) to iron maiden's Steve Harris. The subdivisions used between the positioning and duration of the notes is literally equal to an "emptied version" of your usual metal example. Groove is in the space between the notes, not the speed at which they come. TLDR: Those sliding 16ths and 32nd mutes were carried waaaay too smooth for someone to overlook them with a simple "nothing about speed", at least in my limited knowledge.
@@slightlyannoying3956 This is far and away the best (as in worst) example of _taking yourself _*_far_*_ too fucking seriously_ I've ever, ever seen on the internet. You're literally why the phrase "get over yourself" was invented...
Really, _no._ This is just the BS line that has always been used by people _without the talent to play fast._ I'm a guitarist - playing for over 40 years - and that crap is just what talentless blues guitar players have always used to justify their technical ineptitude. Feel and technical ability are not mutually exclusive: arguing that feel is _a substitute_ for technical ability, is just a transparent excuse.
@@keithreeder i just used an example familiar to me. But yeah, sure.. if you say so :/ Edit: oh sorry, hadn't seen your other comment! So apparently it's you that's taking themselves too seriously, and expect others to also take you seriously so you can pick a fight over... talent? Let me get this straight instead. Feel is a result of technical ability, and is impossible to achieve without it. That's what i argued.
I've been playing the electric bass for about 33 years, and from my perspective your playing is very impressive. Beautiful tone, great feel, great tune, great vibes. More, please, bravo!
I love the way you play and sound just started playing bass and I’m 50 years old but you inspire me if I can play 10% of your ability I will be happy keep up the good work 🙏✨🔥
You can't improve on one of the most perfect songs ever released. Kinga Glyk - hold my beer. The fills, the runs, the effortless skills. I honestly believe real music now has a future . . . .
I watched Earth, Wind and Fire do this song. And girl, you played it just as well as what I watched. The only difference is that you weren't jumping 3' in the air (like he did) when you played it. You are an unbelievable bass player. So totally smooth and effortless that it takes my breath away! 😊
I've watched this everyday since I first saw it, it's so good! The tone is bright and crisp, playing is clean and funky! Just makes me want to start playing bass lmao
I was listening to 20-25 bass covers of this song and your interpretation is definitely the best of the best. So creative and full of inspiration. Thank you :-)
I really like there’s no histrionics or fake grooving-faces and affected head-nodding from her. It all looks so natural and you know she’s truly feeling the notes, unlike so many others. Absolutely kickass.
there’s not much one can say except her phrasing is frighteningly good.. she has “it”…pocket, and her ghost notes perfectly placed leaving you wanting more.. ebbs and flows.. alway on it. her groove is undeniable
Stumbled upon a live band video and enjoyed so much I’ve subscribed. I’ve always been a huge fan of a wide variety of music and was a touring and studio pro for decades. Sadly, a medical malpractice during what was supposed to be a simple cyst removal surgery near my thumb if my right wrist has caused permanent damage. Now I can’t play any if the many instruments I used all my life, can’t eve wash my hair with both hands. It’s pretty touch when your hair touches your butt as mine still does even at age 59. Loved the very accurate cover of a tricky song. I just wish you’d have played the entire song. I don’t think even as ridiculous UA-cam is now, that an entire cover of an EW&F song would get pulled. Only a few famous bands are a-holes about covers of their songs. If this might help for any future cover posts. Title the video as a tutorial or instructional video about one or more aspects of the song. If the education clause is still in effect a few years back, you can use that title and description wording and the UA-cam computers will ignore your music post. Now to go find other music from you solo and the band. You put a smile on my face, thanks! Best wishes!
Kenga good job nice to see young ones take interest in great music to bad your generation doesn't write any good music. Maybe with people like you around you will start writing really good music again...best regards..DJ
I saw you recently in one of Davie504's videos and was so pleased with the sound and the groove you have! A bit after that, I got your videos recommended on YT's main page. Immediately I started watching your clips and here you are - Polka! I nagle byłem w podwójnym pozytywnym szoku! Cieszę się, że na Ciebie natrafiłem, bo to jak dobrze czujesz muzykę to po prostu czysta przyjemność! :3 (In case you are wondering guys, just a quick note that it is Polish that me and Kinga share, which came to me rather as a surprise ;) )
Dziewczyno! Jesteś jednym z kilku muzyków na świecie, którzy wiedzą, co w basie siedzi! A do tego robisz wszystko z wdziękiem, od którego słodko się robi na duszy i człowiek wie, po co żyje! Pozdrawiam serdecznie i - subik leci!
A contender for the all-time award for "videos that end too soon."
They never end too soon or too late. They end precisely when they need to end💫
Damn, that bass tone is crisp af.
not the HAT 😂
Nothing beats a Fender Jazz in the right hands. Best bass ever.

One of the best on YT. Proof here it’s nothing about speed, just pure groove.
Yeah but I can downpick MOP at 291bpm!

Consider making an album "Greatest funk hits - Improved bass lines". This is lit.
Great idea!
Yeah a bunch of funky reharms, it'd be awesome.
i would buy that!!!!
or a ''greatest soul and disco hits'' with Barry Manilow, Al Green, Bobby Womack, D'Angelo, etc etc etc

Very nice embellishments. And the tone you're getting out of that bass sounds fantastic!

Borderline disrespectful.
Ive spent hours watching bass covers on youtube and I don't regret it one bit

Today is the 1st of September, and this song is perfect! Awesome cover 😎
