Stiffer springs in your clutch tune it to your kit and they also make pull starters for that new flywheel so you can run a kicksarter and a pull starter
@@TwoStrokeJ if I were you, id get one of those aramid 3 shoe clutches, they seem to be endgame for the puch, or just lighten the stock 2 shoe, brace it and slap some dos springs
I modify my clutches. I cut crosshatch on the shoes for better lubrication and tighten the screws about 2,. 2 1/2 turns to raise the stall speed to about 3,000-3,200 rpm. Get the motor into the power band before the clutch grabs.
As a owner of multiple mopeds, a Surron, and a Honda Elite, this video makes me very happy. Wish my little city had a fraction of the riding crews you seem to have. Mini motos for the win.

Super video, I'm glad that the ignition from my home country is being assembled in the United States, I use it myself on my moped and I'm extremely satisfied
Now that the bike is perfect basically, i would recommend you getting something that keeps the frame strong. A puch maxi frame can begin to bend because of the heavy modification on the engine. There are these things called EBR frame amplifiers that you mount in between the seat and the front fork. They should most likely keep it straight. Anyways i really enjoyed the video. Looking forward to more moped videos 🔥🔥
We (Dutch) do mount foot rest on the pedel shaft, and push start the moped. I would not bother the Kickstart pull start stuff. The upgraded clutches would be my next step. If you used the small inner rotor ignition would probably smoke the stock clutch.
The most important thing to check is if the points are opening and closing. Which is what you missed. If your interested to learn check out videos on setting points ignition on old bikes like honda cb350s etc. More than likely why you lost spark
Thank you for the interesting video. If there is no spark, first clean the points with some sandpaper and degrease with acetone. If that doesn't work, test the condenser which is usually the culprit. Rather than going to the trouble and expense of installing a rocker switch to replace the kill switch, you could have simply shorted the wires and tested that way. CDIs really make life simple. Just installed one on a 1966 Honda C65 Super Cub and what a difference.
Here is what the condensor does. The stator charges the condensor, then the points complete the circuit from condensor to the coil. The condensor then discharges into the coil and the coil converts the voltage to a higher voltage en discharges true the spark plug thus making it spark. the cdi you replaced it with (Condensor Discharge Ignition) is basicly the same thing but without the points and uses a pickup to send a signal to the cdi to make the condensor discharge. Inside the cdi box there is a condensor. Because a cdi doesn't need the points because of the pickup that it is replaced with, there is less wear and a faster response from condensor to coil.
Capacitor/Capacitive Discharge Ignition (CDI) although a condenser is another name for capacitor. It's normally just called "electronic ignition" and the original (old fashioned) ignition is called "breaker point ignition." The condenser keeps the breaker points from sparking more than necessary, it absorbs the extra spark (called "arcing" which is pronounced "ARKING"). Electronic ignition takes the place of the points and condenser.
In my experience, the most common cause of problems in these ignitions is the contact points. If they lose contact, it manifests pretty much the same as you described. Just cleaning them up with some sandpaper would've probably fixed the issue. But since you can use the benefits of a lighter rotor, I can see why you've gone for the new ignition.
@@TwoStrokeJ Oh, I thought it was weird you wouldn't check those first. In that case, I have no idea what could have been the issue but I guess that doesn't matter anymore. If I can suggest something, try using stiffer springs (at least the blue ones) in the clutch or just tightening the current ones as some other people have mentioned. This way the clutch will grab at higher revs where the engine has more power and this will improve acceleration. Just be careful not to overtighten them, the springs need some space to work. Other than that, your bike is pretty solid!
If you'll do another project, get a moped sumo like A Derbi Senda or Aprilia SX50 or one with an AM6 engine. They are water cooled and can do +30HP with 100cc kits, they also have 6 speeds.
Awesome video man! For the killswitch testing you can just leave the black and brown wire's seperate from each other or disconnect the black ones from the coil for even easier testing. Then the killswitch has no use and the spark no restricions
Btw for anyone doing this at home with no experience.... you are supposed to mark the exact position of the ingition and put on on as it was because the position of it matters a lot in there mopeds.
If you want too get a new/another moped, try to get a Simson S51. They are hard to get, even here in germany, but worth it.
