    *UPDATES:*
    - Sep 1 2021: Revolut move from a 'fixed commission fee structure' to a 'variable structure'. Users now pay either the minimum country-specific fee (these amounts have not changed) or 0.25% (of the USD order amount), whichever is greater.

    We love Revolut as an app in general, but it is limited (currently) in terms of investing tools & resources. As Revolut grows, we wouldn't be surprised if they add more and more investing features! Do you use Revolut to invest? What do you think of the app? Hit us up below.

      Revolut is very accessible and is definitely helping to bring investing to more people, I started with it but have since moved to degiro.
      Two big issues I had is
      1) limit orders are only good for the day (buying via market orders is just a bad idea).
      2) Limit orders max out at $10K, if you wanna sell more than that you need to sell all your shares (and if you have any fractional shares it doesn't work).

      Some great notes there, Ed, thanks for the comment - and we definitely agree that its a great platform to get people started. We personally don't have any issues with the order types generally speaking (market orders are just fine for us) but our focus is long-term buy and hold investing, so when we intend to buy, we're quite content paying whatever the market rate is as a euro or two either side isn't going to make a massive difference if you plan to hold for a few years or longer. That being said, we wouldn't use Revolut for our day to day investing activities. I (Ste) use Interactive Brokers while Cian uses Degiro like yourself!

    Question: if I plan on investing long term should I use Revolut if it’s only a starting place that I’ll move off eventually? Especially if we can’t transfer positions?
    Thanks for the content, really need these vids!

    • @TheLearningsReport

      Hey Mikhaila - Great question. Personally, I would suggest picking a more 'investing focused' broker from the get-go.
      Revolut will likely improve their investing platform as things move forward, but their core business isn't investing - so I would imagine they'll lag in that department for quite some time, relative to other pure focused investing platforms like IBKR or Degiro, etc.
      And yes, they're restrictive in terms of what you can do with your holdings, plus the fees aren't as favourable!

    hello, thank you for your video. I have a question. I see that the transaction fee is 0$ at revolut. What other costs does Revolut charge? what should I do attention to? are there annual fees, monthly fees at basic account? commission costs?
    I hope you answer my question 🙏🏼

    This channel has been great as a beginner Irish investor, is it possible to be a passive investor without dealing with the extreme tax downsides that ETFs have? Would it be possible to invest in mutual funds to avoid the Deemed Disposal and the 41% tax or do they have other problems I might be missing?

    • @TheLearningsReport
      @TheLearningsReport  3 роки тому +2

      Hey Mickey - Delighted you're enjoying the channel, thanks for the support. Well technically you can still be somewhat of a passive investor by investing in individual stocks and just holding them for the long-term. Albeit, obviously not to the same extent that an ETF would allow. You could also manually create your own 'mini-etfs' by buying a basket of stocks that reflect an area of the economy you're bullish on. Again, buying the 500 stocks of the S&P 500 is obviously going to very tricky (especially as companies join and leave the index regularly) and managing that manually would be a huge pain
      Mutual funds are certainly a possibility, but you would likely have higher expense ratios to deal with, plus actively managed mutual funds have been shown to underperform the indexes more often than not, so there's also this to consider also.
      In short, I don't really have an answer for you - it really depends on yourself! My personal approach is a diversified portfolio of individual stocks that I plan to hold for a long time, regardless of market behaviour. Time will tell whether that's effective or not! - Ste

      @@TheLearningsReport thank you for the reply, any chance you will be making a video on investment trusts? It's something I've been looking into.
      Anyway I'll put a bit of my money into something I feel confident in and see what happens, worst outcome is I don't invest anything.

      Cheers Mark!
      So at time of writing, Revolut unfortunately don't offer ETFs (your way of investing in the S&P 500). Some of the other brokers we've spoken about (including Degiro, Interactive Brokers, eToro, Trading 212) do offer ETF investments, so we'd recommend checking out those if ETFs are what you're looking for. Where are you based? Your choice of broker might be constrained by location.
      I'd imagine Revolut will want to add ETFs at some stage to their platform, but I have no idea when/if this will happen! Hope this answers your question.

    • @TheLearningsReport
      @TheLearningsReport  2 роки тому

      Hey Aggelos - Your tax ID is specific to where you're from. For us in Ireland, this is our PPS number. In the US it's your SSN (social security number) - so it will depend on where you're living?

      Hi Conall,
      You can't currently invest in VOO on Revolut. They are constantly introducing new features so it might come in the future.
      You best bet for Europe currently would be IBKR or Degiro to invest in the S&P 500. We have a video which runs through thie brokers which you can find here:
