I love the idea of the sprayer. These combat abrasives belts take so much material off in a hurry that they don't tend to heat up my material much. I just used the 24 grit for the first time tonight, and it was only a small part, but it was like working with wood. I don't remember where I got this metal, but cutting through that same tiny piece with a Nicholson hacksaw blade, left my hacksaw blade dull enough that its now only useful for cutting apart for fire starters when you use a ferro rod. I only have a. 1x30 belt sander, and some other toys, but my next project is a citizen gladius for a client, and I think I can use my 2 inch stock for it, and end up with a beautiful piece in record time. Impressive stuff this combat abrasive stuff. I hadn't thought about going ceramic until seeing the prices on the belts. Considering that knife steel these days is harder than silicon dioxide, ceramic makes sense. I realize how much silicon dioxide is in ceramic, but assembly versus composition, and all the extra stuff that goes into the manufacture of the belts these guys make is very interesting. Headache inspiring at times, but necessary knowledge in the correct application is wisdom.

Cheers Steve. It was good to see how little material needs to be removed in order to create a great/lasting edge and a lightning fast process as well! Would be very little heat created, certainly not enough to affect temperance of the metal(s).
Do you use the leather stropping belt after sharpening every knife?

You should run the belt away from you. Put in reverse.

This is a beautiful video, but any novice that thinks they can do what he did with that sander it’s a complete fool that is a master trying to explain quantum physics to a junior student high trigonometry class.
