I had a dog named Bridgette that had a broken leg as a pup that she fully recovered from. But for the rest of her life if she was in trouble and being scolded she would raise that paw and limp around looking for sympathy. They are like children, masters of manipulation.
Our chihuahua took a hard hit on the head once. We thought it killed her... So now when we wake her up to go outside (especially if it's cold) she pretends she is passed out or she'll cry (tears). We feel kind of crazy for thinking she'd try to manipulate us but good to know it's not just us 😅
@@stressbucket9846 I know dogs can "manipulate" but I don't think of them as manipulators. They do their best to communicate to us what their needs are. Maybe the Chihuahua really IS upset when it's cold outside, ha! And this man's little dog could well be stiff at first until he gets moving. One of my girls is like that. I know that the younger will wake me up - on behalf of the other one if the older girl is sick or needs to go b/c, though she's bigger, she can't put her paws on the edge of the bed to wake me like the younger can. They look out for each other and for me~ Their souls, all animals really, are so special💜. Lotsa' love to all the fellow pet lovers out there ❤.
Too cute! There was a dog in my life who would bring me his leash as a “hint” that he wanted to go out. If the leash didn’t do the trick, the next thing he’d bring me were my sneakers.
Omg I remember my dog did this. She had us fooled for 3 whole days, we were so worried about her. Until we started saying “maybe we should take her to the vet”. As soon as she heard that, she started walking completely fine.😂😂

I had a Rottweiler that would do this kind of thing. She would actually limp though when she wanted something really bad. Her problem was halfway through the act she would often forget which leg she started limping with and start doing it with the other one. I guess somewhere along the lines these dogs actually had a little limp and liked the attention they got. Clever little buggers.
Shut up really..? Thats very interesting..i know and understand dogs can be smart but this opened my eyes on a new level. Thanks for sharing your story.
My dog was hit by a car and broke his leg. After the cast was removed my father would sit with him and massage the healed leg telling him he was a good dog. A few weeks later, my dog did something that upset my father. While scolding him, my dog started to limp and placed the healed leg on my father's lap. I truly hope they're both in heaven keeping each other happy
My dog yelps like he's being beaten within an inch of his life whenever I grab his scruff because he's learned that I let go when I don't want the neighbors to think I'm abusing my pet. Well, at least it worked the first few times. :)
I love it, but at the same time it makes me sad. I remember my pitbull who always wanted to go for walks... Before the end, she would always try to pretend she was able to go for a walk (when in reality, she could barely get up to go to the bathroom anymore)... Dogs are a treasure. Give them the love they deserve.
Also dogs are so pure… We just had to put down my bf’s family dog, Bella, she lives on in our memories. Bless her though, she had cancer and a tumor on her leg so she would try to pretend she could go for a walk as well, we all knew she wouldn’t be able to as it was so hard on her. We always ended up taking her for a tiny walk and then try to hype her up about how good she did so she didn’t feel sad that it wasn’t a long walk. I miss her.
I watched a story about a wolf in a zoo. She injured her leg and everyone in the zoo fused over her. She apparently liked the attention so she started limping again. The zoo keepers where really worried but then they noticed that she kept changing the paw that was supposedly 'injured'. So cute.
My old man told me when he had one hell of a smart cat when he had been a child... One time that cat, a tomcat BTW, got injured and they nursed him back to health and fussed all over him... poor kitty and all that. Well... some time later, after the sly fox-cat was well again, he would once in a while fake being sick or still injured just for the... attention. Until the day that everybody started mocking him which made him stop!

The dog I had growing up knew the very same phrase. There were five members of the family who would put the leash in several different places so it was often a legitimate question I would ask the dog. After I said "where's your leash?" She'd grt very excited and go find it, then we'd be off on our walk. Once when I was visiting from college I went on a run around the neighborhood but didn't bring the dog because she was getting old at this point and couldn't keep up with me at a full run anymore. After about a mile or so, on a straight patch of road I heard a faint skittering and clicking -- and turn around to see my old dog running up the road trying to catch up to me. Man, the feeling that knotted in my chest. I ran back to go get her and when I was about to pick her up I said without thinking, "Oh where's your leash?!" since it was clear someone let her out without realizing she was going to run after me and not just sit in the deck or whatever. Anyway, this confused her very much since there weren't any leashes around! I walked her back home, and scooped her up to carry her back for some of it. It reminded me of when she was a puppy and we'd run too far away from our house and I'd have to carry her back when she was tired. I'm pretty sure that was the last time I ever saw her run.
Lately I've been having that thought of what is gonna be when my adult Grace grows even older and turn incapable of going on a walk and makes me sad to realize she is 6 years old and doesn't lasts too much to get to that day 😭😭 Really feel you
Lmao my dog immediately knows I'm going to take him for a walk every time i take out a small black bag, he goes straight into the laundry room and pulls out the leash. 🥲
So cute how dogs do this! I had a friend whose dog would favor a leg because it loved the attention he got when he was injured - only problem is he kept forgetting which leg was supposed to hurt so it kept changing 🤣
My dog Joe did that for 3 days so he could stay inside during a cold snap. For 3 days I soaked his poor paw in Epsom salts. On the third day, he hobbled over to me and I noticed... "Joe, you idiot, you're limping on the wrong paw!" So he traded paws... with a hopeful grin! My Mom didn't see it, so I kept quiet. We had live-in company with kids, and it didn't take long for Mom to notice he was free day care. The kids'd let him out when he needed it, and Joe loved watching over kids... so as long as they stayed, he stayed!
My grandpa had a dog just like this when he lived in a assisted living facility, very smart and well behaved. Gramps passed a couple months ago but the dog was loved and made so many people happy the place asked if he could stay. His name is Chewy and he is now the unofficial ambassador of the place.
My dog Molly did this. She fell down the stairs and was legit hurt, so after making sure it wasn't serious we treated her like a princess. Carried her up and down the stairs, gave her food and water RIGHT next to her bed, gave her extra cuddles the works! For a week at least, she limped around with no signs of improvement and my mom and I were somberly discussing options. My cat Doc suddenly went into 'crazy mode' in the laundry room and Molly sees and dashes toward him full speed, barking at him. We stared at her, eyes wide, mouths agape and she turns, sees us watching and instantly becomes 'meek and injured' with a limp, drooping head and pathetic look. Special treatment ended that day.
Such a cute little dog! With a lot of personality, I can tell this sweet little dog gets a lot of love and attention from its human friend. Very smart little dog, just adorable.
Yippee, my doggie walks are much more important than my acting career !! Yippee !! My human pal will still take me for my walk ! Yippee Ki Yay !!! !!! My cat 🐈 acts like a doggie half the time, a cat half the time and a human half the time 🤭🙄🤡
My dog did this too. She jumped in my lap one day when I was holding hot tea. I immediately immersed the paw in ice water. She got so much attention and learned that 'the paw' would give her attention when ever she wanted. Your dog is adorable and funny!
Adorable little dog. We have a dog that pretends to be sleeping when we say it’s bath time or time to clip nails. Just yesterday when trying to get him to clip his nails he pretended to be asleep until I said “too bad you’re asleep, I was going to give you a treat”. Within a half a second he’s wide awake standing up wagging his tail. All 3 of my dogs are complete hams and I love their personalities so much.
That's so funny & cute! My old dog used to pretend to be asleep & refuse to get up in the morning when I would tell him it was time to go out & go potty before I had to leave for work. But as soon as I said the word, "biscuit", he was standing up with his tail wagging. I think he realized that if he did that he would eventually get bribed with a treat. Lol Dogs are so smart. He had me trained well.
I heard something on the radio once where some sort of behavioural scientist reckoned that dogs are descended from wolves that realised they could get easy food by approaching early humans and helping on hunts. They then realised they could get cosy lodgings by being friendly and cute.
I can see how joyful your pup is. Wagging it's tail and so so smart and responsive. Well trained and so cute. I can hear kindness and love in your voice. Treasure that little pup.
If i enslaved you in my basement for 3 years. Im pretty sure you would do the same thing once i came to you for a walk outside !!!!! Dogs should be free and not need a master to walk them once every month. Forget the condescending voice and collar as well !

One of my collies injured a leg in a fight. Once the injury had healed, he still limped, continuing to get some sympathy. Then we went hunting. He took off after a jackrabbit like a shot. @@TacticalDimples there are several levels of pain, and several different types of pain. Take this as an example of this video: The dog is limping because of a splinter in it's paw. It doesn't hurt when he limps because there is no pressure on the splinter. So the dog is happy and joyful and runs like nothings wrong... Except for the limp. If a dog is limping. Dogs are a straight up gift from the Angels. Im a Shih Tzu guy. Got my 1st one Coco when I was 10 years old and had 14 wonderful years with her. My 2nd Shih Tzu Daisy was just a rockstar. I loved her so much and bonded with her a little more than I did with Coco. Daisy died at 17 years old almost 2 years ago now. About a year ago I got my 3rd Shih Tzu, an absolutely adorable puppy we named Muffin and of all the Dogs I've had this one is the sweetest and cuddliest. With Coco and Daisy there was always a limit to how much cuddles and squeezes they'd take before it was enough but with Muffin its all she wants to do and its the sweetest thing. I've already bonded strongly with Muffin and love her very much. I really just cannot see my life without a little Shih Tzu roaming the house.
Shih Tzu's are the best! so much personality and their funny little faces! Life is definitely better with a shih Tzu ! I have a sweet little rescue now ,and the pug mix sister he came with, but for 17 1/2 years I had the most precious shih tzu. Sushi was her name and we had an amazing bond. We were made for eachother. She was my once in a lifetime puppy. I think of her everyday and hope to see her again someday. 💖
My Great Dane did that too. He was legit injured once and we fussed over him and put a down jacket over him to make him comfy and warm. From then on, whenever he saw the down jacket he would whimper and tremble until we covered him with it and tucked him in. He was pitiful. Sheesh. He trained us.
I had a dog that did the same thing!! She’d had surgery, and after she recovered, she’d fake an injured leg when she knew somebody was looking at her!! She was a sweet doggie and lived to be 16..I’ll always miss her….
My dog fake- coughs. One time he almost choked on a piece of bone. I had to get it out. My heart almost stopped when he tried to get air. I was so worried about him, like when he had a cold, once. Now he plays me, when he doesn't get his way. He doesn't do it very often because he always gets his way🙈
My dog used to do this and then forget which one was the injured leg. That's literally the only way I figured out she was just trying to get attention, lol. Appreciate your fur babies' antics💕 They are here for way too short of a time😔
Yeah, my third Norwegian Elkhound (adopted as an adult) very convincingly faked a hip problem, but when I took her in to get checked (paid the vet's kids' private school tuition for the semester) she was fine and demonstrated her ability to clear the fence when we got home and she wanted to visit the next door neighbor's shepherd mix for a play session.
My dog used to do this, he was a big labradoodle and it was always so funny when we'd take him to see grandpa and he'd walk up all sad looking and sit down heavily next to him then present him the 'poorly paw' and look all mopey, knowing he'd get extra special attention for doing so. We all loved how he'd do that for like 7 years straight with no breaks, it was his "give me cuddles" routine exclusively for grandpa, and then he'd run out the door like a puppy when it was time to go for a walk or get in the car to go home.

My Cairn Terrier used to fake paw pain on the way home from our walks so I would carry him, but if he saw another dog coming up the street he wanted let down and suddenly no paw pain, he didn't want to look weak in front of the other dog.
Brilliant. My dog was shivering several years ago, I cuddled him saying, are you okay. He quit shivering but since then if I just happen to say are you okay, he looks pathetic and starts to shiver only stopping when I cuddle him.
My old old old chihuahua used to do the same. When I was like 4-5 I kind of sat on her, and after that for like a week, whenever she saw me she limped on 3 legs, but according to my family as soon as I left she would start walking on 4 paws
Looks just like the little friend that found me several years ago. I'm not so sure every dog has the potential to be as smart but they can all learn to do almost exactly what you want from them if you just take a small bit of time to let them know what's expected and what can't be tolerated. A firm voice when they're bad and plenty of loving when they do good is all it takes. Once they are totally at ease little stunts like this can happen all the time. All a dog wants to do is please you. Taking a few minutes to work on that makes years so much easier.
Females are harder, males will eventually back down to another male but more often to a female alpha. Females are more protective of hearth and home and if they lash out then they think they can do better. Just sayin
My grandma and grandpa had a lot of dogs all the time. Every once in a while they would get a, what I'd like to call a generational dog. Very smart types, know how hunt, chase bear and understand that babies are sacred and the duty to always watch them. One time my mom was canoeing with her ex, they had my older sister who was like 1, along the shore a mother bear and cubs saw them and she came charging in. They had one of grandma's dog, named Blacky, a Labrador Mix, it was on the shore somewhere and must heard what was going on. Mom said her ex baby daddy came up with a plan that if the bear gets close he'd dive in and try his best to stall it, the mother bear was catching up faster then they could paddle. Blacky meanwhile saw this going on and rushed into the water and started for the bear. At some point they all trianglulate together and the dog gets to the bear first. All my mom saw was that bear dunking that dog and the dog was starting to drown. She had to look away and they kept paddling, Little baby on board. Next thing they know was they saw that dog swimming back to the shore and that mother bear back on them and gaining. Again they agreed to that plan until they heard barking. That dog went after the cubs and the cubs starting crying and they run up a tree. That MA bear stopped and looked back and then to the canoe, then decided to go rescue her kids. 2 hours that dog was gone because the mother bear was after him. He came back to the truck after it was all said and done. Good dog that one.

20 years ago I had a young german shepherd which once suffered from muscle ache after a day of being very active. This became clear to us when she was restless and went around living room table a few times, clearly trying to relieve herself from muscle ache in any way possible. That one time she was allowed on the bed where I massaged her legs to give her some relief. Clearly it was great to be on the bed for once and a week later she tried to act as she was suffering from the muscle ache again and went around the living room table as if suffering, but it was clearly an act and we had a laugh.

My dog was hit by a car and broke his leg. After the cast was removed my father would sit with him and massage the healed leg telling him he was a good dog. A few weeks later, my dog did something that upset my father. While scolding him, my dog started to limp and placed the healed leg on my father's lap. Awwwwww this is so adorable! Doggo understands every word.
He legitimately understands when the man tells him " where's your leash?"
Awesome 🤩🤩
Lately I've been having that thought of what is gonna be when my adult Grace grows even older and turn incapable of going on a walk and makes me sad to realize she is 6 years old and doesn't lasts too much to get to that day 😭😭

Brilliant. My dog was shivering several years ago, I cuddled him saying, are you okay. He quit shivering but since then if I just happen to say are you okay, he looks pathetic and starts to shiver only stopping when I cuddle him.
🤣🤣🤣 drama king!!!
Aaawwweeee Are you ok? 😃….🤔…..🥶😪😮💨🤧🥶🥶 cuddle me mom 🥺
Adorable ❤️🥰
My beagle goes into defcon 1-5 depending what we say. I wonder if she likes shaking.
It's a true miracle. That cute dog would never fake an injury.

Harry is super smart. Not to mention he's cuter than anything. Give him hugs and kisses for me. 🤗💋🤗💋
My old old old chihuahua used to do the same. When I was like 4-5 I kind of sat on her, and after that for like a week, whenever she saw me she limped on 3 legs, but according to my family as soon as I left she would start walking on 4 paws
Bahaaaa

Definitely Trying To Guilt Trip You, Smart Lil Thing
Hilarious!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
Lol this gave me the giggles 😂😂😂😂😂
Looks just like the little friend that found me several years ago. I'm not so sure every dog has the potential to be as smart but they can all learn to do almost exactly what you want from them if you just take a small bit of time to let them know what's expected and what can't be tolerated. A firm voice when they're bad and plenty of loving when they do good is all it takes. Once they are totally at ease little stunts like this can happen all the time. All a dog wants to do is please you. Taking a few minutes to work on that makes years so much easier.
No, every dog absolutely 100% does not have the potential to be that smart unfortunately.
You can say the same about people....LOL

Dogs are really smart. I remember my cocker spaniel was acting all weird while I was getting ready to go out with my son (who has autism), she rarely whines or barks but that time, she did, trying to get my attention wanting me to follow her, so I did while asking her what's going on, she led me to the door, which was open and I found my son already halfway down the stairs heading to our main door which goes right to the street! I was so moved and amazed by that moment. I just love her so much, she's my much needed "extra eye" for my unpredictable son!
Look into getting an AAC device for him. We're not as unpredictable as people think, sometimes allistics just don't hear us.
@@LieseFury That person has advanced autism not the high functioning autism reserved for people with poor social skills
@@blessedANDunimpressed oh shut up
@@LieseFury what's an AAC? I live in Italy and here, there isn't much awareness for neurodiverse, although therapies and programs are excellent. My son wasn't talking till he was 4, going to speech therapy and neuro psychomotor therapy helped him. Now he communicates, although his ASD is quite severe, he also have ADHD and speech delay.
@@blessedANDunimpressed how dare you judge someone you don’t even know. you do know how hard it is to juggle between things right especially as a parent

@@Skank_and_Gutterboy But I wonder why? Why is the dog faking an injury?
This is our dog Snowball right now.
A fold out stand fell and fell onto her paw.
For like 4-5 weeks we absolutely babied her and gave her treats and carried her every way cause she couldn't walk on it.
At about 7-8 weeks we noticed her actually walking on her paw fine, but as soon as she noticed us looking she'd lift her paw up and whimper like it still hurt.
Hahaha that's so cute!!!
🤣🤣
😄😄😄😄
So cute.....
You should nickname your dog "Amber" for an acting job like that one.
Fastest recovery ever. What a cute, smart dog.
Too precious...
He is the cutest thing ever. I lost it when he came gimping around the corner. He got around nice with the gimpy leg. Sir, u have the sweetest dog ever, what a ham. I bet all ur neighbors love him. There is not 1 thing not to like about this dog.hes an absolute 👼. 🙏💋❤💋💋💋💋
This one is an expert because he'll stare you in the eye with a straight face while lying to ya!!!
My cat did similar to this lol he started limping one day so we took him the vet and the vet said there is nothing wrong with his leg he just realizes that you give him more treats and sympathy when he walks on 3 legs 😂 he also said my cat was over weight so we put him on a diet and he was an indoor/outdoor cat 2 days later he came back with some bbq ribs 😂😂😂 … he’s an old man now doesn’t go out too much but he’s been a barrel of laughs over the years
haha he sure has good taste in food bringing home bbq ribs :)
Wow - I hope the neighbors didn’t witness that feline crime 😂
Beautiful story ❤️

This is about dogs.
He’s just gorgeous and such a smart little cookie!
I had a standard Poodle that would start limping if we would walk a direction he didn't want to go. As soon as we changed direction he was miraculously healed. Loved that dog.
This little white fluff boy is the example of perfection, he is adorable and gorgeous, highly intelligent and fun, but most of all full of love 🥰 and loyalty.
I love ❤️ him so much 😍
me too!

Just hilarious. A sign of empathy is 'Do you talk to your dog?' Clearly your pooch understands a LOT. And I love how so busted you caught him faking it. Funny and beautiful at the same time. You and your dog are clearly connected. :))
@Robert Giese to get a dog that acts like a kid, don't treat the dog like a kid 😂
She appeared to be embarrassed by this reaction once realising her ruse to get on the bed had miserably failed.
What a beautiful and smart pup!
