- Using only 3-4 matte shadows, create depth and dimension where none exists, however, this look today can work on ANY eye shape! Today is Seint day so I'm using mostly Seint shadows but explain how ANY brand can work and I even use a little of my Makeup by Mario shadows. You can do this! Makeup takes practice and I promise you will get better with each attempt. In the future I wonder if you could do a hooded eye on someone else who is really hooded. I have hooded eyes that are way worse than yours. Ugh!! It would be a huge help to see how you apply eye make up on someone who is really hooded. : )

I'm 62 with oily skin and hooded eyes. The eye primer I use is called Thank Me Later by Elizabeth Mott and I love it! I use it on my lids but also use a tiny bit on my lower lash line before applying liner to keep it from smudging. Thank for your videos!

I’m 45 and the best primer for me is the Urban Decay eyeshadow primer potion. I’ve noticed my eyelids have lost flexibility so this primer is perfect, it’s light and spreads beautifully smooth.
I've been using Milani Eye Primer followed by Seint Vanilla Dust setting powder. My eyeshadow does not budge until I remove it that night.
I would love a tutorial on brushes to use for eyeshadow
I have oily, hooded eyes and used to use the mac paint pot(which does break up more often in summer or if Im in a humid environment), but recently(about 2 months) I've been using the gerard cosmetics eye primer and am having good results for living in southern OH in summer. I think where you live also matters.
Also, I use a niacinamide serum(glow recipe) on my eyelids and that has been helping as well.
For eye primer I really love Perricone MD No Makeup Eyeshadow. I also really like Painterly, but I think, for me, the Perricone is wonderful.

Hi Michelle ! Great video . I am 59 and still have oily lids and skin . I have found a great primer for me is the Makeup by Mario primer . It contains 2 shades of primer plus a setting powder . I have discoloration on my lids . I like the 2 colors because I can customize the colors . Thanks again and have a wonderful day xoxoxo

Love this natural yet impactful look! I do have somewhat oily lids (enough that I can’t use NV+1). For eyelid primer, my favorite is MAC Paint Pot (Painterly & Layin’ Low) since it doubles as a great base color. Urban Decay Primer Potion, which also dries matte to a neutral base color, has a nice applicator wand. I also use Elizabeth Mott Thank Me Later. They all work really well.

Michelle, 54 years old ,Oily lids and face here.I love Mac paint pots painterly and layin low and bare study. But thank me later eye primer is fantastic too. The reason the primers mentioned here are so good is it seems to grip the eyeshadow and for me here in the hot humid desert southwest of San Antonio they just wear well and do not melt off or disappear. I also on a unmakeup look days I love to wear the paint pots only with a little mascara, tinted moisturizer (summer fridays) and Seint Bella and heatwave (mix the two) and Dior lipstick in beige oblique.Have a fantastic Christmas break with ur family. ❤
I love Trish McAvoy eye primer. I am 53 and have hooded, dark and oily eyelids. It really helps to lighten up the area. I found it about 7 years ago and fell in love.
I really like MAC Painterly. I have started to use Tarte Filling Primer in a thin layer on my eyelid. It totally "irons out" the wrinkles on my eyelid.
Great video! I love the Too Faced Insurance eyeshadow primer. I tried many eyeshadow primers and this is the best for me! I'm 55 years old and I use this primer for years. Waves from the Netherlands 🤗
That one didnt work for me and it was recommended by a pro artist who herself is 40s. I had high hopes. Just goes to show you that we are all so different❤

My mist favorite eyeprimer and staple is the twoface shadow insurance. I've been using it for years now and still is the best to manage my aging hooded eyes. Recommend

So I am a hooded eye woman of 51 years… As far as good eye primer, I use" thank me later" by Elizabeth Mott, which in my opinion, is as good as urban decay with a better price point👍 Not only is it a great price but so easy to find on Amazon😁

I use urban decay primer potion. I found painterly to be a bit chalky on me. I’m 55, as of today🎉 and I’ve been using it for prob 10 yrs.
Love it! Yes to more hooded eye looks next year! Please address how to camouflage the small puffy bags that form above the inner corners of the eye as we age.... I think it is orbital fat pads that start to protrude as we age.
I have that inner eyelid fat pad too. I've never heard anyone mention it before. I was thinking I only had them. They drive me crazy trying to hide them. I basically have to stick to a halo-eye makeup look. Does anyone have any other ideas?
@@chrisbruno6681 yep, deeper shadow will knock back a fat pad
@@maturemakeupmasterclass I usally do when doing my halo. Even if I use like a pink I put a brown in the inner corner to darken it then blend it out a little. That fat pad is a harder issue to deal with than hooded eyes for me.
@chris bruno I used to work for a plastic surgeon. They remove those pesky pads when you have eyelid surgery but I would rather not start down the surgery road...😉
Have you tried the lid stickers? They work pretty good for me. Just clean all oil off before applying and put makeup over the strips.

I have oily lids. If I don't wear a base my eyeshadow is about gone within 4 hrs. I have been using Estee Lauder stay-in place eyeshadow base for the last 3 yrs or so. The only thing on the back is A90, not sure it that is the colour. It is a peach base. My skin tone is very fair except for the skin around my eyelids which is a lighter brown just up to my crease. This covers it all. Whenever I check my eye makeup and I am wearing this base, nothing moves. It still looks the same when I wash it off at night. I can't wait to see the rest of the video, need those tips for hooded eyes!

Zoeva make a good eyelid primer for oily skin. Just throw it away after a year as l think it has a shorter shelf life than another of other make-up products. I am mature age and 47. I like your style...you make me wanna sip Dr pepper on ice too...LOL maybe they should endorse your channel too! Happy Christmas and have a good holiday. You deserve it.

Thanks! I am 60, I alternately use MAC paint pot or ABH eye primer. I struggle with a hooded eye that has a crease at the outside corner of my eye, (it folds to my lashline) AND a horizontal crease right above my upper lashes. I also struggle to find an eyepencil to use in the lashes/waterline to tightline with that does not transfer to my bottom waterline. Any suggestions?

I like the Gerard Cosmetics eye primer. It’s more liquidy that the paint pots so not as drying on me. I love how my shadow colors translate onto my lid when using it.
I’m 42. I know, not mature-mature but “mid-mature” as I call it. Still, my lids aren’t as taught as they used to be. I’ve got hooded lids.
Last time I ordered, the shade light was out of stock so I ordered medium. Medium worked well. It’s not too dark on me. Just fyi in case it’s still out of stock ☺️

I have to wear warm or neutral tones for my skin but I think this method can work no mater what undertones someone needs.
I have given up eyeshadow because of this. I basically just do a lid color and put a shimmer on the lid.
Putting a darker color along the lash line terrifies me but imma give it a shot🦋

I'm really curious about the Thrive Causemetics Eye Lift 360° Waterproof Primer, as it supposedly helps both under the eyes and on eyelids. It's supposed to smooth and reduce the appearance of lines (they even show using it on other areas of the face to help smooth over fine lines!). I have hooded eyes and oily lids, so I'd love to hear from anyone who's tried this product, or to someday get your thoughts on it!
Hey Michelle! Great video. I basically do those steps, but I always have trouble with the dark shadow on the lash line creating a rainbow shaped marking in the crease of the eye because the skin will drape over that area and transfer occurs no matter what sort of primer I use. Any hints or just skip that step? Thank you!

Hi, Michelle, I have been following you since Clean Beauty Babe days! 💙 Love you so much!! And enjoying this video, I am 58 and have deep set eyes, my brow bone is more prominent now, I need help with choosing where to put eyeshadows in the crease because the skin is now becoming more hooded than when I was younger, I do have eyelid space, but really hard to put eyeshadow in a v at the outer corner, help, I used to be able to pull off drama with eyeshadow but now it’s confusing, I feel like eyeshadows are too dark in the crease, I just bought some sent eyeshadows, chai and Ivy League, and the holiday eyeshadow collection, I have honey brown eyes with a grey outline, and leaning towards more cool tones, I love greens and purples! Have a great Holiday Season! 🎄
Yes, you will avoid shadows in crease but you can still smoke the outer upper eye liner. Lid soace lend itself will to that and you can have so much fun with shadow when you have a lotta lids. Space.
