Thank you so much! You solved my problem after trying this for 2 hours! Worked perfectly on my HP EliteBook Folio 9470m.
I have been searching about this for a couple hours now since I have the exact same laptop with the same issue. I couldnt find many solutions and most of them involve modifying files in Linux through the terminal which I don't understand at all because I'm very new to it. It's one of those times where you know its gotta be a simple fix but you cant find the answer. Thank you for the vid it has saved me a lot of time.
Thank you. This worked and so quickly! All the other videos are telling me to set it to Legacy and it wasn't seeing the drive. One I set it to UEFI - Boot and launch! Excellent! Thank you again.
You're welcome!
It works well done I’ve been worried for over an hour but this worked perfectly thanks for the video
Glad it helped
Thanks man, it worked really well on my HP 840 G1.

Thank you so so much I couldn't find the solution to fix it anywhere but finally found yours thanks man I was looking for 3 hr.
God HP's are such garbage computers. Never had one that didn't have a million issues.
Yep. I share similar feeling. I am surprised by Lenovo. They are quite good.
@@a.m.6752 Lenovo is worse then HP, as of my experience I've owned both
@deadmine__666 yep the exact same experiences here, idk whatto go for next...
Exactly
IT WORKED!!! BLESS! Keep them videos coming!
Glad it helped
Half of a day working around to fix this… Your 4 min video only helped me :) Ty my friend :)

You have just saved a life
Thanks man!! been trying for three days now

Thanks a lot Sir , was not able to figure out what to do but it worked ,just fantastic.....
I have an
HP G6-233 NR After a simple bios update, its like it was made for Linux. Never had a problem with it, it's lightning fast now. As a matter of fact it's one of the best laptops I've ever used on linux and it's old as dirt with a Pentium D that I upgraded to a
QuadCore duo, 4g ram and linex Garuda..
Thank you very much for the great info. I installed LMDE6 (debian 12) and had this exact problem on my old HP ProBook 640. Annoying. But your info got me over the hump. Now it books right into LMDE, just like it was supposed to. In my case the custom boot path was EFi\debian\grubx64.efi. It found the boot image and started working without manual intervention.
Great! Glad you got it working.
Thank you, seems to be working fine.
Absolutely love you brother❤❤❤ it worked
Can you run windows on one drive and Lennox on another drive? I just picked up an HP Oman 17 and I would like to put Linux on it on a separate drive

YOU SAVED MY LIFE MAN!!!! I literally kiss the ground before you. is there a difference between booting in secure mode vs not?
Thanks for the kind comment. I always avoid the secure boot for my linux installs on these old laptops. I do it to avoid, the issues. I don't have an official explanation of the technical details, maybe someone else will chime in
thanks mate!
You're welcome!
I’m stuck in Bios after my laptop deleted its own Os what do I do
Also, please please change the title and put the laptop name in it, I feel like that would be helpful for others to find this if they need it!

You're welcome
Thanks, i was about to return to windows.
Thank you
You are welcome
Worked for me on my hp 4530s by simply clicking uefi on (selecting UEFI)
I solved the problem. I installed Linux Mint 20.2 it booted petfect than used the mint upgrader to updrade to the latest version and i boits perfect.
I did it with secure boot. I tried to install ubuntu, then zorin, then it finally clicked when i intsalled mint that i needed to turn secure boot off. My laptop is a brand new hp 15.6 with 32gs of ram. Is your laptop having any driver issues? My internal speakers don't work and neither does the suspend function, only the screensaver will come on. The only time I can get the screen to go blank is if I shut the laptop. I guess this is due to the fact that hp doesn't make drivers for linux except for red hat(corporate)purposes. Look out for any of those issues, I've also heard of touchpads not working as well. I am looking to find a way around these things. If I do, Ill leave another comment for people. I wish I had certain knowledge before I tackled this stuff, but hey I learned a lot.
I had these problems when I first installed but after updates mine is good. I will make an updated video on mine.
lol! thank you.. :D
nice man thanks, just have been struggling for hours with this. Wtf is this lol
yoooo yoooo yooo, it fixed it, Thank you man
Glad to hear it
del laptop... everytime I press esc it comes up with a screen that just say,
grub>
grub>
grub>
and so on for every time I press esc. no menu ever shows up. i think its a command prompt thing? but idk how to use that in anyway whatsoever
Two years ago I bought a second hand laptop with Windows 7 installed on it. Now I've installed Linux Mint but I cannot access BIOS because the previous owner set a password which I don't know. I cannot contact that person. Is there a way to override that password?
On some models there is a jumper you can set to reset the bios password. You will need to look up the service manual from your model.
@@RickBolt Thank you for you answer. I'm probably not able to do tinker on the laptop without destroying it. :-)
👍👍👍👍👍👍
If there is a way to like this video 1k times I will do it
This video actually saved me after hours of trying to install Ubuntu on my new laptop
Thank Rick Bolt for putting out this nice video here
Thank you for the kind comment.
Apparently hp did this deliberately. It's not a flaw. I hate hp now.
Thank you so much mister🥹 you're a lifesaver.
Happy to help
@@RickBolt by any chance these changes affected your computer's ability to boot into a flashdrive? Just curious
