I am tired just watching them. I do so much enjoy watching them perform this dance. When I was in the Philippines visiting the local HS during Philippines national holiday, gave a wonderful performance.

It's easy to look at. It's fast paced but in the Muslim version of the Tinikling, the "princess" has to stand in those bamboos, one in each, while it's being lifted up to those men's shoulders and they'll walk around.
They are not versions of the same dance. Tinikling and Singkil are different dances. Also, there is NO such thing as Muslim version nor Muslim dance in the Philippines. Maranaos had been dancing Singkil even befofe the arrival of Muslim missionaries.
The audience was shortchanged by the manner the performers executed the tinikling steps . . . they were not dancing at all! They were not graceful, always concentrating as they did on their feet not getting caught by the bamboo poles. This is why they were always looking down at the poles - they did not look at each other, no interaction between them. The male performer cheated many times by not getting his feet inside the poles to execute the steps. Out of rhythm with the music too.
Oh my god, I can only imagine the number of hours, days, and months of practice to be able to do that!
we did this in 1st grade and got 2 weeks to perfect and it was 1st grade to 6th grade....
Thats very true
yep

The announcer is mistaken, the national dance of the Philippines is not tinikling, it's Carinosa.

Rebelle Jean Black you are referring to Singkil not tinikling

religion is totally different from culture. it should be “Maranao dance” or “Singkil” not Muslim.
It's, Singkil .
Real fast
