I love what they did with pyramid head. They really have leveled him up in terms of meaning. It isn't just a monster you sometimes meet to fight. He really feels like moving the James' voyage further.
To be honest, I prefer the new Angela. I think the portrayal of trauma induced psychological illness (depression, dissasociation, emotional instability, lethargy, apathy, tiredness, etc.) is portrayed more accurately in the newer version. I have PTSD + a lot of associated issues and I personally find it more relatable. Not denouncing Donna Burke's phenomenal performance as both OG Angela and Claudia.
I have to comment again how much I appreciate your playthrough...I actually cannot really watch other's You are invested, you pay attention, you reflect emotionally etc...

According to the creature designer Ito, the scene with pyramid head in the kitchen is not meant to be sexual assault. PH is trying to get rid of these manifestations of James' psyche. Basically culling them.
i love how maria is much more subtle in this version and how shes more forward with her body language. i also love how they changed "you loved her...or maybe you hated her?" to "you loved her didnt you? didnt you?" i think its way more subtle lol
I feel like it's never been clear what PH does to the leggy monsters. Like the OG cutscenes went pretty hard on the suggestive animations but neither the monsters nor PH himself seem to have any of the required parts for that sort of thing to take place. What has always been clear, to me, was that there was a definite power imbalance being shown. Where PH can just flipping PLAY with the other monsters. He's punishing them. And he's essentially top of the food chain. The scene's intended effect was to setup Pyramid Head as an unstoppable force, and it worked okay, but on a first playthrough the sexual overtones seemed like they came out of left field. On a repeat it started to make sense, but the PH scenes still felt a little gratuitous. I feel like the remake walks the knife's edge pretty well. It shows enough to make you uncomfortable and not too much where it tips into shlock. It's a delicate balance to get right, especially considering how iconic the character has become.

I've played the Original Silent Hill 2, 3 and Silent Hill 4: The Room (I was living by myself, kind of like James and i would wait until midnight to play Silent Hill just to increase the Shock and Awe, and it did! I had the front door open, but there was a screen door. And I also opened the window right in front of me. So that when you hear sounds in the game sometimes you would think it was coming from outside. The thing is sometimes there were sounds coming from outside. There were times I had to push myself to continue playing because it could really get to you. (Shock and Horror). All the lights were off in my house and the front door which was only 4 feet away from me to my right was opened and the window right in front of me!!! Oh, anyway I believe the words you were thinking of was "Sexual Tension". Maria really knows how to Seduce you with her Movements and her Dialogue. She is so good with her presentation that I want to go with her to our "Special Place". That's all I have to say for now. Goodbye for now or Goodnight! Whichever one applies depending on when you read this.

I really like Maria in this game. She's different, and that's okay. She's way more seductive than the original game, and she delivers her lines in a softer way. More feminine. So yeah, regarding Maria I have no complaints for this part of the game. Are you liking her so far?
