Honest Criticisms and a quick retrospective for the Silent Hill 2 2024 remake: [] It's a little too bright and the fog is a little too thin. Yeah, it looks gorgeous, but I feel like the fog should be a little thicker. [] Angela's model looks a little...off. Can't quite place it. [] I don't like the design of the Lying Figure. I think I liked the more rotting fleshy mass it appeared like back in the original; that said, the current one isn't BAD, but I'd like it if it's "mouth" split open a little more while it spat, that'd be REALLY creepy. ......That's kind of all I got from what I've seen. I watched the Angela trailer and the gameplay one a few times to mull my thoughts over and....I actually think it looks good. Ambience is otherwise good, voice acting is fine (better than the HD remake)....I'm not sure how to feel about combat just yet, since inventory isn't shown. I hope ammo is a LOT more sparse if they're allowing for quick-swaps, someone mentioned it being very "last of us" and I got that vibe from using ammo to soften up then finishing off an enemy with melee. I'm taking it as written they're not pulling a Downpour with breakable melee weapons at least. I DEMAND they keep in the subtle endings (how you play and what you interact with influencing things, none of that "Push X or O to make an obvious choice" bullshit). Lets see....2006 was when the movie came out, and 2008 was Homecoming, so about 16-18 years of mediocrity from the series. Bad movies, average at best and outright phoned in and uninspired at worst. Homecoming wasn't GREAT, it's endings were terrible (and I got the UFO ending by ACCIDENT on my first playthrough, what the hell), but I can safely say it's ambience and enemy design were solid. Didn't love but didn't hate. I can't speak for Shattered Memories, I never played that one and didn't watch a full series, but it wasn't the best idea to have motion controls in a horror game. I can at least say it was a fascinating role reversal. And Downpour had what I said above with blatant button choices, that stuff pissed me off, and all the enemies were generic humanoids. There's of course the mobile games, harmless enough since they're not canon, nor have microtransactional nonsense like so many others these days. Ascension was a bit of a mess. And with the shenanigans of the Slot Machines (using a psychological horror game like that is a TRAVESTY), other average releases of their name brand series like Contra, Metal Gear Survive (and the whole PT Fiasco between Kojima and them),......Konami has burnt a LOT of good will. Now. That all said and done. I think MAYBE. JUST MAYBE. Bloober learned what worked and what didn't from Medium (which I haven't played, but REALLY should at least watch a playthrough if nothing else, since when I saw the trailer I immediately had Silent Hill vibes), have their heads on straight, and Konami isn't meddling with things. I know it's friggin tempting but I don't wanna see preorder bonuses or DLC crap (get the exclusive James or Maria skins, unlock the Hyperblaster for $5.99!). They have a template to work with and so far, it looks like they're doing things fine. TL;DR - Part of me still feels a little dirty giving Konami any money. They're at least smart enough to not keep it exclusive, letting it be on PC at least. I have my reservations, and I'll wait to purchase it until I see the Metacritic drop, but the odds are, it'll be a decent remake, and I might probably for the first time in gods knows how long, buy a Konami published game. Fucking shocking, honestly. "In my restless dreams....I see that town....Silent Hill....you promised you'd take me there again, but you never did."
The Polish dev even said they're toning down the horror of the original. That, yeah Angela has caterpillar eye brows and man Jowls and 40lbs heavier, Maria doesn't look seductive or opposite of Mary, I can go on. HD version redubbing sucked, what I've heard in the remake doesn't make me feel better. I'm happy I bought a complete in case copy 2 years ago before it his $100+ because I doubt I'll indulge the remake. On top of, SH2 did not need a remake to begin with, SH does though and SH is a great game, just horribly dated. I replayed the original 2 years ago, and it holds up.
In the interview with the bloober developers, the creative director confirms that they have kept the system of endings according to the way you play. The video is on the official channel

This is what was fascinating to me about silent hill. The first game was great, but it felt like the story had a finality to it, however its sequel proved that silent hill itself was an entity that didn't just tie itself to the cast of the first game, the pull and energy of the town effected the lives of many people completely unrelated to the story of Alessa, Harry and the others, its power pulled in many to it and created a hell for them either to overcome or be consumed by.

I also....can't remember the last time I actually played the game, which is oddly depressing. This was my favorite at the time alongside SH3.
Damn this always gives me such specific vibes. Love how the music doesn't start right from the beginning. Silent Hill. Don't think there'll ever be something quite like it again.
dude, you can't remade a masterpiece, this game has a lot of details that it probably will be ruined in the remake, because of the new animation they will want to make this game look like a modern movie and agh... i'm probably with an unpopular opinion right now but i hope they don't ruin a this masterpiece of game
strangest thing here is not that op is responding after 16 years, but its that the video quality didnt degrade after all these years and video still looks the same as the intro
La mejor intro de la historia, este juego es una obra maestra, para los que dicen que los videojuegos no son arte, he aquí una la prueba que los desmiente, este juego me hace sentir tantas cosas que no puedo describírlo, me alegra haberlo encontrado y jugado... Larga vida Silent Hill...
These games tugs so many heart strings, well I guess, the first four got me... it's like they tear into your soul with the story, and then the music puts you into the shoes of the main character... It's literally art, but in video game format
Well, well. To anyone coming here now, a quick rundown of my thoughts for the recent Silent Hill updates in 2022: Konami botched the first HD remake of Silent Hill 2, I"m 100% NOT for multiplayer Silent Hill (it's a game about psychological horror, not asymmetrical gameplay), more details need to be leaked before I care about the movie.......but Silent Hill f shows potential due to a smidge of originality. Least it ain't Downpour.
Big high hopes on Townfall and BIGGER HIGHER hopes on Silent Hill _f_ which the two perfectly encapsulates the contrast between the horrors of west and east, and how both has their key strengths in their respective storytelling. Thank you for archiving this opening for years! ^^v
Daaaaamn there’s something about ps2 graphics that breaks my mind . Silent hill 2 and Metal gear solid 3 was the best Konami gave us! And probably the best of the console .
Easily my favourite intro to any Video Game. Equally compelling as it is ominous, it completely engrosses me every time i watch this Video. Thanks for uploading this.
Im thankful i grew up surrounded by this franchise. Silent hill 2 was the first my mom picked up. I always remember hearing the games soundtrack, Akira Yamaoka has been etched into my memory.
Hm? What? Well I'm here but not coz of that. I mean i ain't even played any Silent Hill game. I find the intro really captivating tho. Can swear I've seen this like 50 times already
Silent hill did something happend to you? after you got seperated from Team Silent, are you confusing yourself with another franchise? (laugh) you always used to be scary.. Remember that time in the hotel?
its hold up quite surprisingly well in terms of graphics and gameplay,it looks and played like a ps3 game despite the fact that the game came out at ps2 era.but an accurate remake with the old cast and director would be a great surprise.
anyway? what do you mean, anyway!? that was the moment I felt goosebumps. not only by voice, but also by the face of James. This game tells us that people create their own hell via guilty conscience. great.
I like this game very much! When i was a kid i thought this was just a normal horror masterpiece game but i realized that james' body was trapped inside of the silent hill because of his guiltiness about killing his wife
I think the real tragedy is the fact that the series never quite figured out what it wanted to do with it's own plot. One and Two are at odds, because One is a cult plot, and Two is a psychological plot....I feel like had they gone more with the latter, they would've had a proper horror series since psychology is WAY more vast and interesting than "EVIL CULT WANT EVIL GOD RAWR". And then HOMECOMING happened.....and then they tried to backpedal and failed miserably with Downpour. And once PT was cancelled, I just kind of gave up on a proper sequel, let alone protégé to pick up what the original had.
@@Darkmage1293My bad about replying after 7 months, I finally completed the game as a teenager but the book of lost memories was a huge foreshadowing and yet, a huge spoiler

"ANYWAY!? WHAT DO YOU MEAN, ANYWAY!?!?! You don't sound very happy to see me. I WAS ALMOST KILLED BACK THERE!"
Off the top of my head, without rewatching the video. Might'a mixed up the order myself. I also....can't remember the last time I actually played the game, which is oddly depressing. This was my favorite at the time alongside SH3.
Theme of Lauraがホント心にブッ刺さる
I will never forget going into the store and buying this game. Playing this was definitely like no other 💕
Damn this always gives me such specific vibes. Love how the music doesn't start right from the beginning.
Silent Hill. Don't think there'll ever be something quite like it again.
I don't care what anyone says, this is the greatest game of all time.
No

One of the best openings ever made... I love to come back to this game once in a while. Truly a masterpiece
Konami and Bloober Team....DO NOT screw this remake up!
Dude, its is better to think it will be bad not to be dissapointed...another time.
@@fleshtearer4399 that's how I deal with Resident Evil remakes nowadays, Silent Hill is at its first remake so the hype is justified.
dude, you can't remade a masterpiece, this game has a lot of details that it probably will be ruined in the remake, because of the new animation they will want to make this game look like a modern movie and agh... i'm probably with an unpopular opinion right now but i hope they don't ruin a this masterpiece of game
ooouh . akira is the best genious in the history of the music of silent hill . and the best game in the history!
Definitivamente es un genio el animador de este juego. Es tan realista que perturba y fascina al mismo tiempo. Este juego es una joya.
Obsessed with this intro. The music is pure bliss.
they dont make games like this anymore. absolute perfection from the start. down to the last minute.
James Sunderland's face is probably one of the best character designs I have ever seen for a horror game protagonist.
He looks dead inside constantly.
Apart from the vietnam jacket looks like he’s about to go slaughter a village
Aight you can't just say he looks the best and than roast the crap outta him lmao
James... You made me happy.
Damn man 17 years and we get this masterpiece back again
24 years back then
Almost 20 years since I played this game and I keep coming back to that intro.
Que lindo es recordar, solo Silent Hill sabe ser terrorífico a la vez que hermoso.
Tengo fe en que el remake nos haga sentir lo mismo una vez más 🥰
strangest thing here is not that op is responding after 16 years, but its that the video quality didnt degrade after all these years and video still looks the same as the intro
I came here at full speed after seeing the remake's new trailer. Gotta pay respect to the OG
تحفة بتبقى بالتاريخ للابد💘
انا اختمها اول مرة على XBOX 360 SLIM
This is hauntingly beautiful
These games tugs so many heart strings, well I guess, the first four got me... it's like they tear into your soul with the story, and then the music puts you into the shoes of the main character... It's literally art, but in video game format
Well, well. To anyone coming here now, a quick rundown of my thoughts for the recent Silent Hill updates in 2022:
Konami botched the first HD remake of Silent Hill 2, I"m 100% NOT for multiplayer Silent Hill (it's a game about psychological horror, not asymmetrical gameplay), more details need to be leaked before I care about the movie.......but Silent Hill f shows potential due to a smidge of originality. Least it ain't Downpour.
wellp even if the game sucked. at least we get good osts
I was hoping for Homecoming 2 :(
You amazing for being on here since 2006 and STILL have an active channel. So many of the OG's left after a few years. But not you, you the king. 👑
Big high hopes on Townfall and BIGGER HIGHER hopes on Silent Hill _f_ which the two perfectly encapsulates the contrast between the horrors of west and east, and how both has their key strengths in their respective storytelling.
Thank you for archiving this opening for years! ^^v
You forgot townfall
All these years later, and I still have to say this is the best intro sequence to any game.
Can't wait to see what they do with the remake. I hope it can match the original or come close to it.
I am... if you want me to be.
silent hill 2 was one of the best games that i was play. masterpiece
Thanks for uploading this.
truly an amazing game...haunting to this day....i miss silent hill.
❤ quedó perfecto, me encanta, es una de las obras maestras más importantes de la historia.
out of all the video game trailers..this one is just stay close to my heart.
Gears and dantes inferno are forever etched in my mind
Man i love this series still, many years later. The music resonates with me
When i first heard this theme, i was like DAMNNN
this is goooddd, can't stop replaying it
This is still the greatest video game opening of all time
16 YEARS AGO HOLY MOLY SO GOOD
Just finished the game a minute ago this game is just master piece (game complete at 22/01/24 time 1 clock and 5 minute in night)
Beautiful days have passed
Im thankful i grew up surrounded by this franchise. Silent hill 2 was the first my mom picked up. I always remember hearing the games soundtrack, Akira Yamaoka has been etched into my memory.
It's a masterpiece. There's something terrifically sentimental, psicollogical in this game .
Btw the opening with voice is available on the greatest hits edition of silent hill 2
Or the sh2 enhanced edition, go to the movies and if you completed the game click the "introduction collage voice version"
Oh shit i didn't know that@@lucassinclair8885
I always assumed it was Maria's body at the elevator at the end of the long hallway where she and James "got separated"
Who is here for The new trailer from Silent hill 2 remake ?
Hm?
What?
Well I'm here but not coz of that. I mean i ain't even played any Silent Hill game. I find the intro really captivating tho. Can swear I've seen this like 50 times already
One of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. This game is amazing. The intro is fantastic. And the music is incredible.
It’s amazing how something so upbeat can be so terrifying
This is a pure art
I just love this opening. The music is incredible!
Silent hill did something happend to you? after you got seperated from Team Silent, are you confusing yourself with another franchise? (laugh) you always used to be scary.. Remember that time in the hotel?
This game still haunts me. One of the few games that had me contemplating the outcome after the ending.
this game does not need a remake
They couldn't even do an HD update properly.
@@Darkmage1293 yeah
It really doesn't need a remake
@@Darkmage1293 they lost the source code of the game that's why
its hold up quite surprisingly well in terms of graphics and gameplay,it looks and played like a ps3 game despite the fact that the game came out at ps2 era.but an accurate remake with the old cast and director would be a great surprise.
nearly 20 years later people are STILL talking about the masterpiece of this game
it's a generational experience
... This remnant of awesome horror quality... Fuck you, KONAMI, you murdered it... Let you be damned for it...
This game genuinely has my heart every single time
Soo many years have passed and still..😢❤️
feels so rare seeing a 17 years old video... the time..
Welcome to Silent Hill!
I see you are new here. So here, have a brochure and be sure to visit our cult---I mean church.
Can i smother you with a pillo- i mean give you a pizza by any chance?
this intro is as beautiful as the tekken 5 one, both marks of a beautiful childhood i was blessed to have
Tanto este vídeojuego como los Soundtracks son LA PÜTÄ PÖLLÄ, simplemente una PÜTÄ PASADA👌😎👍
Gosh i wish i could forget it... Still hits me hard.
A masterpiece.
anyway? what do you mean, anyway!? that was the moment I felt goosebumps. not only by voice, but also by the face of James.
Great job mixing the music and dialogue!
