      It's still being used by my daughter. Nice little piece of kit.
      Might be worth taking a look at the price on the K8 plus (with the new case design) - Probably a bit more expensive, but silent under load plus additional oculink port :-)

      @@TeamPandory I saw another review on K8 and it performed nearly identical to the K6, however has AMD AI added; which is a hot mess to turn on. Ali-Express price difference was $60 more for K8 Bare Bones kit. I paid $346 for K6 BB. Should be great for mini server. Great Channel Keep up the good work!

    I like mine after using it a week. I had a $150 coupon that convinced me to try it. The video isn't quite perfect yet, the screens do some really crazy things sometimes while scrolling but then catches up and fixes itself. I am hoping graphics updates from AMD fixes this.

    • @TeamPandory
      @TeamPandory  8 місяців тому

      Hmn, maybe caching ? If you suspect it's the graphics perhaps try the other video port or another cable ?
      I find that all these computers usually start off a little slow as windows updates are doing things in the background... Fingers crossed it sorts itself out.

    If you want something cheap. Go for the Intel N100 (unless there is a newer version). But anything else and you are wanting to spend more. Always go with AMD. Thier Ryzen APU's are the best.

    • @TeamPandory
      @TeamPandory  10 місяців тому +2

      Definitely, the N100 does REALLY well at that price.
      Saying that, the 5700U is coming down in price that challenges Intel at the mid-range pricepoints. Might be interesting when Meteor Lake appears though. Could shake up the market.

      @@TeamPandory The 5800H is also a really good option. The much higher TDP than the 5700U makes a difference, and there are 5800H Mini PCs at very reasonable prices.
      BTW, after the "Rise in a bathing suit" cutscene from Persona 4, I totally lost my focus on the technical aspects. Rise was my wifu on my second playthrough of that game. LOL.

    Not too bad. That side by side comparison with the K4 though showed the graphical quality to be definitively superior on the K4.

    I’m got a full blown 4k gaming pc in a DanA4 case (12600k + 3080Ti) and don’t use it. I’m a trucker so space is at a premium, but so is time. I’m thinking about getting this, but it’s on sale today for a good price, so I’ve gotta be quick. LOL but all I do gaming-wise anymore is some pixelart indie games, so something like this would be perfect, but I don’t want to try and buy+build another machine.

    I'm really interested in a comparison between the 7840H and the 6900HX using equal amount and speed of memory, since the 6900HX can be set to up to 6000MT DDR5. All the comparisons I've found online have had the 6900HX running 4800MT DDR5 and an unequal GPU memory allocation. Set both with 32GB DDR5 5600MT, set both to 8GB GPU allocation, set the TDP's to the same, then run some comparison benchmarks. I'd give a $Thanks for that video!

    • @yissnakklives8866
      @yissnakklives8866 10 місяців тому

      I've been hunting for that kind of comparison to inform my purchase but found no help from any of you mini pc guru's on the TUBE. Ended up grabbing the um690S with the 6900HX/680m and 48GB of DDR5 5600MT to see how it runs.

    • @TeamPandory
      @TeamPandory  10 місяців тому +2

      We can't really compare it with things we don't have, but checking specs and benchmarks, the 7840hs will beat it hands down due to the 780m GPU.
      The speed difference in having faster memory will be minimal in comparison.

      Hi, dies 690s with 48gb ram runs it @6000mhz? I am considering exact setup

    • @TeamPandory
      @TeamPandory  9 місяців тому +1

      @@tomasmigilinskas1488According to their spec sheets, the 6900hx runs up to 4800mt on DDR5 and 6400 on LPDDR5, the 7840hs is 5600 MT DDR5 and 7500MT on LPDDR5x.
      The 7840hs also has the faster 780m GPU.
      If you're still considering the 6900HX, I'd only grab it if you can find it at a cheaper price than the 7840HS.

    Tim, late question. When I look at the K6 on the GMK website, it lists 5 options of what is on board as bonus storage etc. The last option appears to offer a smaller NVME, but the price is 80 bucks more that the 2TB Nvme version before it. Can you tell me what I'm seeing here, I'm sure I've made a mix up. It's just I'm looking to get one and give my daughter the K1 I have. I was looking at the K8 but your review says the benchmarks are better on the K6 and I have no use of the AI.

    • @TeamPandory
      @TeamPandory  6 місяців тому +1

      Yeah, sometimes they mess up their pricing. Like have a better product for cheaper - they probably wanted to put all the prices down but just slipped up.
      Make sure to try the coupon codes in the videos if you haven't yet, and yes, we still prefer the k6 with the lower clocks.
      Lower clocks stay cooler, and something that wasn't mentioned in the k6 review, is that AI can actually be activated on that one too.
      Either way, they're in the same ballpark when it comes to performance. I wouldn't really dwell on the numbers in a k6 Vs k8 showdown.- just go on what's cheaper / better deal.

    I'm wondering, does it support x265 hevc? And do you know what the limitation are for media streaming? I got loads of recorded tv shows but they are in 1080i and formatted in .ts but in my experience, i'm only able to play those shows (fluently) on apple products for some reason (streaming with plex)
    One thing about music production; the tracks you see in the demo songs are already processed meaning they don't take as much cpu/gpu (depends on what you use) as when you would design your own sounds and process them etc

    As a bit of a noob to this, I got the impression that it was a Linux only, dedicated Batocera machine. But at the end you showed it running windows and PC games.

    I am currently using Display port to connect a monitor with 4k 144 hz (no problem), however when I use a type c - hdmi cable to connect a hdmi 2.1 monitor, I cannot turn on 4k 120hz, it becomes dark screen when i switch to 120hz (4K60hz no problem), the cable support 4k120hz so i dont know what is the problem. I want to use dual monitor,

      Apparently there are monitors that only half-support HDMI 2.1, maybe try another monitor if you have one handy?

      Another idea: Apparently the USB-C port only supports up to 40gbs. 4k 120hz may need 48gbs. How about lowering the video output BIT level in the display options / adrenalin driver options?
      I think default it's at 10, but perhaps 8 might help out.
