looks like new mini pc's coming out every hour 24/7
We need to see some emulation test like rpcs3 and switch, becouse alot of ppl considing these for that purpose.
And Rogue Squadron 2 😉 I swear that is tougher to emu than Automobilista..
Why do that when the cpu is already good enough
@@acwbit2368how good? Could it possibly even run prince of Persia on ps3? Gotta have it tested
@@DaGreenDestroyer it's a Zen 4 cpu with 8 cores 16 thread the only limit is TDP
Completely agree. Its 2024. I have a Steamdeck for almost all emulation needs, so the only generation that the Steam Deck (And other handhelds AFAIK) is not fully capable of running 100% is PS3/X360.
Be curious about revisit to these benchmarks later this week when Frame Gen gets unlocked for the 780m. Drivers should be out when the 7600XT drops.
Definitely interesting little machine. I can't wait for the prices to come down.
I really thought it was going to be expensive and then I looked. Lol this thing is super cheap.
@@huskers1278 👀✌️👽👍
@@huskers1278 , so cheap that it leads to existential crysis for 8700G, as 7840HS with the same silicon chip costs for vendors around 130-150$ instead of 330$. It`s just too useless(it would be faster but not by much, yet much bigger in size) to build AM5 8700G+DDR5 system, when you can get it around 50-70% cheaper in a small box(NUC-wannabes with 16/512GB can be found for 400$ from less known vendors), or can build a classic PC on something simpler like AM4 Ryzen 5 5500+DDR4+RX 6600/6650(XT) etc. and get much better fps/$ ratio.
Just got mine from Amazon for $457 , they gave me a $150 off so I took advantage of the deal despite not needing it much .
I bought this mini PC for 554€ with the Ryzen 7 7840HS, 32GB DDR5(I'll use my own two 32GB SODIMM modules so 64GB), 1TB SSD PCIe Gen 4 7000MB/s write and read, USB4 40Gbps etc. I bought it to replace my old desktop to use it as my main PC for programming and PS3 emulation.
Can't wait for the Ryzen 8x00G APU reviews.
Me too or the 9000 and 10,000
@@USAF_Medic - ETAPrime's reviews on the 8600G and 8700G are now live... so check them out.
8700g almost same performance with 7840hs
7840hs == 8845hs
7940hs == 8945hs
just more power efficient and more NPU , ai gimmick
7840hs similar to 8600g
7940hs similar to 8700g
all six mentioned above pretty much same level.
except with 8700g desktop, overclocking is possible and pairing with 6000+ ram too.
which mini pc / laptop can also do with lpddr5x 6400mhz or 7467mhz..... such ram too expensive. laters only with galaxy book 4 pro/360/ultra so far
9 videos in 1 week. Uncle ETA is not sleeping lately. I'm not complaining BTW.
Hey! Big fan here from Trinidad. I'm curious about how mini PCs handle the tropics. On average we have 70% - 80% humidity and 24°c lows and highs around 37°c. AC isn't always necessary due to home ventilation techniques. Certain types of electronics have significantly shorter lives here.
Also please run Warframe on any. MINI PC with an APU, i wanna see the results😊.
Great video! Thanks for sharing the discount code, too. Can I ask when those discount code will expire? And also, I saw two color options on the GMKtec website, is the K6 in your video colour "space blue" or "steel blue", I'm really bad at colours xD.
We just want to see how well this emulates the high end stuff.
Nice review.
I'd be interested to see the difference between a 7840u and 7840hs in gaming
Hello, love ur videos. Which do you think would be the best mini/nuc pc for 1080p ultra gaming, with possibilities to us oculink in the future. Or should I wait for the asus rog nuc?.
Thanks
I was hoping you'd take a quick peek at the SSD through either Task Manager or Device Manager
I have that APU in my laptop paired with a 4060
RTX4060 is leagues better than the 780M
@@dragonl4d216 Of course. But the 780m is already in my laptop because I have a Ryzen 7 7840HS CPU paired with a 4060 GPU. I have been able to make a smooth 30fps option using the 780m with some games and it feels like a console experience.
@@yeahyousowhat7841 I mean since you already have the 4060 then it should be used for all games and the iGPU will be used for simple less graphically demanding task like web browsing or office
3:00 Couldn't they have put a slower rpm but larger fan on there?!!
There they only need a minimal air flow, almost nothing.
Hi ETA,
i need your professional opinion about choosing between those two mini PCs that you mentioned in the video GMKtec 7940hs vs 7840hs. They are basically the same price so I don't know what to choose. Thanks
SteamOS would be godlike on this NUC. Definitely would consider this for my TV/ Living room needs.
Does the current SteamOS actually support PC's other than Steam Deck?
I read that they stopped support when they released the Steam Deck version.
Also, I would rather build a Mini-ITX PC with a dedicated (older) GPU for the same money because it will yield much higher performance.
Playing in 900P FSR Performance on a 4K TV sounds really bad to me.
@@leonn1196 there's no official release of steamos, but there's ChimeraOS/Bazzite/HoloOS which is basically SteamOS with tweaks
@@leonn1196 Not yet anyway. You can use ChimeraOS though.
@@leonn1196there's no official steam os 3.0 release date for desktops yet
Ready for strix Halo APU next year.
That's cool, but I'm looking to build a retroarch/batocera arcade cab. Anything new that isn't a 400 dollar mini PC and could handle WiiU emulation at the high end?
I swear I'm not a stalker, I just saw the thumbnail and walked in haha. Great job as always
About 15 of these out on the market now with the same specs. What's the point? How are they all even making money?
Yeah waiting for his next video "OMG lightning fast mini PC with.... AMD 7840HS!!!!!" same video over and over and over and over and over
this looks promising!
Seems like it runs almost identical to the Ryzen 9 mini PC you previewed the other day, if not a little better.
From India with love 🥰🥰🥰
If this thing is still around in 5 years, I might buy one.
why not now
@@angelariel2360 no money now

I'm looking for specification comparison charts. Apparently GMKtec has at least one small PC with two NVMe 2280 slots, any other small PCs like that?
Thanks!
Bro u gonna have to make another video comparing these new mini pcs
I wish to buy one this month,
These are getting close to 1650 performance this is incredible
780M is on par with 1650 already
Close? Already on par or surpasses it.
i wonder if they will make a LPDDR5x-7500 version of the same NUC, APU's do love faster ram speeds
Great review. But … Do you feel this little PC would run MSFS 2024 without any issues? Thanks!
yes low around 60fps, medium 30
Found this for sale 150 off base price on amazon....if my beelink SER4 can run rpcs3, ryujinx and triple A titles like last of us and forza horizon 5 at 1080p high settings im sure this one will do better, not to mention in the months to come driver updates will only make it better. Im thinking about selling my rpi4 and rpi5 and put my SER4 in the arcade with a sizeable coinops image. Im set for the next 2 to 3 years🤘
I'm still running the i5 8 series NUC for HTPC.
Is the LAN Intel or Realtek? Need to know for virtualization reasons.
Will you hook up an external gpu to the gmktec k6 and suggest which one to use? Is there a bottleneck? Can you just hook it up through the usb c port?
It's basically the Elite Mini UM780 XTX without the oculink port
Absolutely feeling the release fatigue at this point... The mini PC and portable gaming market is suffering the same issues the mainstream consumer PC hardware industry is: Over-saturation, with little to no variance between manufacturers, almost no large hardware innovations between releases and a lack of thoughtful, utilitarian/aesthetic design. (looking at you, generic "gamer" boxes that look like a trashed Gundam concept...) There's just so many of these boxes to choose from that all have essentially the same I/O and performance.
Buy this or wait for STRIX POINT? I need to replace my 18 year old Q6600 cpu and ati 3850 256mb video card.
Do you think this could run PS2, gamecube WIi and WII U games at 4K?
Could be a good competitor of the MINIS FORUM UM780 XTX...what do you prefer? I have to choose as soon as possible...
Same here. The specs are identical, yet UM780 seems to perform slower. Or is it the updated drivers that make a difference?
Would be curious to see how these line up to the NUC for Proxmox, do these use Realtek NICs?
yes intel 2.5gb ethernet + realtek gigabit
Can you do a comparison with Minisforum MS-01?
How's the longevity of those little machines?
Is there a slot to add a 2.5’ SSD at the bottom area for this new mini pc?
Hi there!
I'm looking for a mini pc that can edit videos and maybe play some games up to 500€.
Do you have any advice?
Why is this performing so much better than UM780 XTX? Newer drivers?
Nice 🙂
I'm just holding out till I can get a mini PC with a GPU with 16GB VRAM to be more future proof.
we need mini pc's which pair them with 4060 or alike....
What is the noise level in normal and extreme operation.
I wonder how much performance would you gain by replacing the 5600 RAM with 6000 and 6400.
AROUND 3 OR 4 PERCENT MORE IN TERMS OF ADDING MORE RAMS!...you should get about 4/5 fps more.
it would be nice if you could add some dota 2 gamplay in your testing of these mini pc´s.I think alot of people would be intrested to see how these tiny machines would perform in a in such a game. Otherwise Great review as usually
I was wondering, is the mini gaming pcs in the range of gaming laptops, in terms of price
About half or 1/3 the price of a proper gaming laptop, normally.
What about emulation?
Damn, my PC is getting so old, I'm running a Ryzen 5 2600 with an RTX 2060 16G DDR4 3000. I think I should probably just upgrade the CPU to a 3rd GEN Ryzen and call it a day. I am still running on 1080p. I am starting to notice problems with the whole system, is the reason I am worried. I can't even run Path of Exile very well.
Could you test age of empires 4 ?
Can you try FSR3 with theses igpus...your the only that can do it
He doesn't need to try it. It all software based, it's proven to give you a performance boost all around. The steam deck fsr3 mod just tells the game it has a RTX 4090 (when it doesn't) to activate amd fluid frames. You can research on UA-cam, seeing the witcher 3 on steamdeck going from 30-40 fps to 60-80fps is a big difference. Even if its 30w and under
@@PieMK6R i want to see it in action with these new apu...is that to much to ask?
What's this BoX FOR?
I just got a deal on the K6, there was an Amazon $150 coupon so it seemed like a sign. It's a very fast, fun exciting machine. It boots very fast and is fun. After 2 weeks I sent it back to Amazon, which is where you should buy these PC's because returns with GMK is flaky and outright dishonest, people are saying. I had problems with the AMD video drivers they had on their aite and while scrolling through UA-cam it would get scrambles and then pop back. A new AMD driver came out but it didn't update or take it. I didn't want to get stuck with a company that had little interest in pushing updates. These companies are releasing these new 'Toys" like this every other month and I didn't trust them to keep me up with updates. From the way they are handling returns, the seem like a dishonest company who won't help me in the end. I'm glad it's gone.
does it have DDR5?
wtf.. they put the ssd-cooler on top of the sticker? genius!!
so yeah
8:37 did he really said "900p FSR performance"? Crappy ahh settings just as his benchmarks lmao
Can it play BG3?
You need to do a benchmark comparison of the 780m without Fluid motion frames and with fluid motion frames.
Its literally the most interesting tech AMD has come out with for over a decade and you havent highlighted it with a dedicated video yet
Everything is perfect with this…IF…there was a discrete gpu. Even something as tame as a 7800M XT would make this worthwhile/decent for gaming.
Gotta wonder if he even plays games in his free time or literally just endlessly benchmarks them for fun
Considering he is releasing 5.2 videos per hour, I doubt he has any time to play any games.
He only has time to shill for the companies that pay him.
@@Bob_Smith19That's a bit unfair, don't you think? Don't get me wrong, there are things I don't like, but he is not exactly coming out lying about these computers. At least as far as I know the worst one could blame for is being too nice. Hardly a "shill".
I only care about the 8600g. Build my own mini itx that doesnt overheat or crash
Can someone please provide a real logic reason to have TWO LAN ports!? 🤷🏼♂️
Mans is reviewing yet another 7840hs box lol
Eeek these things are pricey😓 I settled for the Beelink Series 5 Max @ $309. (Ryzen 7 5800H & Radeon RX 8)
How do these Mini Pcs compare to a Steam Deck or ROG Ally for gaming performance?
These companies would be wise to try something eye catching to differentiate their products from the other 1500 miniPCs out there.
At least try different colors, see through plastics, or whatever. Grey/black box is just meh.
Take a look at this exact product, now imagine it in the color of the power button!
@@EnyoStudio Thank you.
I really don't like the diarrhea green power button on the front. For some reason it is a really popular colour in North America but I will actively avoid products that are made in that particular shade of green.
I got 7940 but overheated
These mini pcs are rarely worth the money. You can usually get a laptop with the same if not better specs plus a screen, trackpad, keyboard, webcam, among other things. They sell these mini pcs with nothing but charge more for the sheer novelty of it being small.
That being said, for some reason I’m still extremely interested in them. Just wish they were cheaper.
For desktop use a laptop may be better but for an entertainment center PC use for dedicated tasks like emulation/steam these mini pcs really seem to fit the bill.
Who wants a laptop hooked up to their TV in the living room? These have their place. You don’t always need a screen, keyboard and trackpad.
Paid $500 bucks for this when it went on sale on Amazon. There isn't a single laptop with the 7840hs and 32gb anywhere near that price. The thing with these mini PCs is they are almost always on sale. They're pumping out new apus constantly so these things drop in price literally a few months after release.
Needed timestamp please.
whats the minimum system you can run Starfield on? and it still be playable.
I wanna see them put a real fan on there. Not that little tiny middle school of a fa. Better fan would not cost him so much more money and would do much better to cool down the system
It’s a laptop CPU. You can’t put a conventional fan on it. You’re stuck w/ shitty laptop coolers.
I feel like im on drugs when i hear you talk about performance of the IGPU. Tomb Raider 1080p medium above 60fps is not falling on its face. I can't take these videos seriously when you say weird stuff like that.
Yo
It is now a fact: mini pcs are becoming bigger and noisier and consume more wattage... How ironic...
😁😁😁👍👍👍.....
Swear this is probably the 20th time you shown this SoC get boring after 3
Wow no one of american company can make this so cheap 😃😃
I don't see how he can still be so excited about "another" 7840U system especially as on paper it is about 8% less than a 7840HS there is now hundreds of these types of mini pc's
Why this tech not available in india😡
Everyone is buying mobile for playing pubg. Nobody wants PC.
Sick of these cpu alreay
too bad you dont have a rumble account.
Brother can you give me your old unbox mini pc please
Be aware The thermal are atrocious
Enough talking play ps 2 and 3 emulation on highest setting please.
Yawn.... Yet another, AMD Ryzen APU mini pc video show-casing semi-consistent 60fps gaming on low settings. There's a million of these things on the market and they are all essentially the same. How about a video putting several of them head to head and sorting them out based on fps per dollar, or best in class IO, or something that aggregates the pros and cons of all of them together in a single video so potential buyers can make an informed decision without having to go through a 15 hour video backlog. You already did all the benchmarks. Make a graph.
First.?
first.
last
More of the same. Underwhelming.
All the same shit. Absolutely nothing new here. Spoiler alert. It's another 7840
Every single of you video starts with "OMG, this is the FASTEST mini PC ever seen!!!" and then it's just as average as any other one. Think it's time to unsubscribe...
He reviewed a higher spec unit from the same manufacturer a few months ago. So he was flat out lying.
Day 38 of asking for a PC for my college.
Shouldn't the college get their own PC?
Y'all, we don't need 200fps. We don't need 70, 60, 50fps either. The human eye can't tell any difference between 30 and 60fps. As long as you have sufficient ram, you could use a potato for a gpu as long as it gets you over 30 fps, at the very least medium settings. I want to actually start a company that is dedicated to the irradiation of the graffics card market all together by manufacturing processors with powerful gpu's built inside and not this watered down AMD APU bullshit we have now. I'm talking about making anything amd, intel, nvidia and whatever other graphics card creators there are out there becoming extinct. No more crazy ass 2k for a damn graphics card. Just pay around $500-$600 for one processor/gpu all in one....... and no, it's not going to be like AMD, intel, or nvidia. It would be so much more for so much less
You are wrong. You can absolutely tell the difference between 30/60/120 and possibly 144. The lower end is really noticeable when you step up. 120 to 144 is most likely imperceptible. But higher frame rates are just as much about inputs as what you see on screen. 60 is absolute minimum for PC gaming. Only someone what hasn’t played at higher frame rates would say otherwise.
Just because your brain is not capable seeing and feeling the difference doesn't mean everyone elses is the same.
@@Bob_Smith19 it's okay that you're delusional
@janaebert3059 I can tell, tell that a lot of you have been brainwashed by the bs. Linus did a thing and had his guys play the same game on two separate rigs. One at 30 fps and the other at 60 fps or higher. None of them knew the difference, some guessed and only a few got it right and admitted they really couldn't tell
Is this @shawnminor8015 for real or just trolling right now lmfao I'm dying over here
Again another video that's only about 1080p. No one cares. Minimum of 1440p high settings or nothing for the love of God stop making these videos with 1080p.
