I did similar and got the in2detailling one about 3 years ago. Loved it overall and found the swivel based very free flowing. Swapped for a MTM just because my hands as I’ve got older ache sometimes. It’s a totally different beast in terms of trigger ease. However found the swivel not easy so took it to pieces and rebuilt it with some PTFE tape and a bit of lube and now it fantastic I’d take the cheaper all day long if I was younger or a weekend warrior. It’s over 50% cheaper in price so bit of a no brainer tbh
Hi Heather, as I only clean my own 2 cars I opted for the autobrite stubby gun ,priced at about £35 , had it for about 2yrs now and its performed really well .
Hi Heather, another great video, I brought the in2detailing gun not long after you first feature it, and have to say it was the best thing I did. Thanks for all your helpful videos.
Very thorough comparison as we expect here. Same conclusions as I have too. The main difference is less hand fatigue and the satisfying connection you get with the MTM.
When I started doing my car on a regular basis, I bought a cheap quick release gun on Amazon that also came with the karcher hose adapter. All I needed was the swivel joint, as I'd already bought a new anti kink hose to replace the absolutely pathetic hose you get with the K2. Apart from the new hose, which I did spend a few quid on, it's all cheap and cheerful, been going about 2 years or so with no problems whatsoever and I've bought quite a few quick release accessories along the way. Also have the karcher adapter so I can still the dirt blaster attachment without using the karcher gun. It's all good. :-D
Great video again Heather, thank you. I sprayed my MTM with a quick squirt of WD40 Silicone spray, instantly it made it a lot smoother for attachments and 1 year later its still the same. Stainless steel is the way to go although costly.
Nice honest vis Heather. It’s my living and I use good quality value for money guns and equipment. Yes I use expensive chemicals, known brands but to be honest that’s for the customers benefit. I detailed a friends car (free)with a hose, two buckets and some auto glym wash and a mid range sealant and to be fair he was more than happy and the car looked great. Buy what you can afford and afford to lose or break. Great work Heather.
Thanks for watching :) Yep I think if you're doing it professionally you definitely feel the benefits of the SGS35, I also think it looks more professional as well
I went with mtm after my stock gun broke. I seen reviews of cheaper guns blowing up on occasion. The price on the mtm was hard to stomach because my pressure washer cost the same price but I’m much happier and it’s working like new 1.5 years later. I would get it again if it would ever break
Great video Heather, well put together and presented. Just what I was looking for as I have the same In2D gun that is a few years old and has taken a beating.
Good honest review Heather 👏for us keen weekend wash warriors on a fair budget, you can't go wrong with in2detailings offering or any other similar one at that price point. The mtm will always have a place in some deatailers equipments provisions.
Great comparison Heather. I looked at the SGS35 for my Nilfisk, but couldn't justify the price. I also found availability of these guns a problem when I bought one last year. After a while searching, I eventually settled on the MTM Hydro Astra. Halfway in price between some of the budget guns and the SGS35. Excellent build quality and comfortable to use. Definitely wouldn't go back from using the quick release nozzles. So much easier.
Nice thourough review 👍🏻 I’ve got the AD stubby gun which is very similar to the I2D and love it, nice that the MTM has a easier trigger and stainless but as you say for the average person not worth over double the price.
Thank you for an insightful and through comparison video between the two. I have been thinking about getting a trigger gun like one of these as the Kranzle gun and lance is a chore.
I also have the in2detailing gun. On my karcher k4. And like you my only problem with it is the quick release system for the nozzles. They don’t always want to come out as easily as they should. Great video.
Nice one Heather, that's a good little review. I've just invested in my first stubby, to replace the standard Karcher K series gun and, like you mentioned, because I only have a couple of cars to clean, I got an In2Detailing one, but not the entry level, I think it's a good bit of kit for the money. All the best.
Great video Heather. I bought the MTM version and very pleased with it, works well with my Karcher K4. It also works well with my MJJC snow cannon. The MTM is perfect for cleaning the wheel arches.
I had to upgrade my budget trigger gun due it not being able to handle the more pressure of my upgraded nilfisk. I ended up going for the sgs35, works perfect now.
Hi , is it hurts your hand? I have the cheapest gun but the vibration is too strong and it hurts my wrist. Is it because of the gun or because of I am not strong enough to hold it
The in2detaling is a no brainer choice if you're a weekend warrior like me, although i bought the Halfords one to replace the Karcher gun that came with my HD 4/8, but to be fair it looks more than capable to suit the needs of a full time valeter at a price thats not going to break the bank.
I purchased an entry level gun for my K5 (might have been CYR or similar I honestly can’t remember). As good as it is I feel like it almost throttles the pressure washer because the output isn’t a powerful as the original karcher long gun. However it is much easier to use so have to take the rough with the smooth. Great video as always 👍🏻
I've been umming and hahing around one of these for a while. Halfords have the Autobrite Direct one in their sale, I've taken the plunge and purchased one
I have just ordered the sgs35 from carscope with lance and coloured nozzle set can’t wait to try it the quality looks far better plus will be a great upgrade on for my K7 . Great comparison of both stubby guns
As a home hobbiest with a few cars to maintain I switched from the basic In2Detailing one to the MTM one mainly as I got for a STEAL in a Black Friday sale (£50!). It is a great deal tougher, feels like it will last forever, though the basic one does a perfectly fine job. A very good comparison vid anyway, nice work!
Sgs35 any day, used a cheap one from in2detailing over time the trigger got really stiff and made my hands cramp. Plus the sgs has largers internals and you can feel the increased flow. (Karcher k7 user)
Wasn’t expecting to see a little finger work out today 💪🏼 MTM is on my list of wanted upgrades but have a direct hoses one which like your old one is a bit tatty but not let me down.
Haha it did really start to ache with the In2Detailing gun 😂 To be honest the only reason I upgraded was because I bought the Kranzle and was getting very carried away with pressure washer equipment lol
I don't use snow foam or pressure sprayer but, still found the comparison interesting....if it does the job and is value for money, then the budget one would be for me...thanks for the video 👍
I got one of the MTM after watching folks talk about it several years ago. Stainless is the way. My brass fittings are slowly messing up. Slowly buying better stuff
I have a stubby trigger with Brass fittings and find the quick-release connector goes ‘sticky’ with surface corrosion and on a few occasions has ‘spat out’ the end nozzle because it hasn’t seated and locked in properly - once it flew out and hit the car window 😮 Totally agree with the ‘trigger fatigue’ Heather so I would say the MTM is the way forward in the long term.
Good review Heather. I have a generic Chinese one that's three years old. Touch would it's still going fine other than the quick release mechanism is not as smooth as it once was.
Hey, Heather, I hope you are well, still, I'm working on a Kranzle pressure washer gun it works very well, and thank you so much for your explanation, Today I learned this topic very well, Best regards. ,
Think one thing to bear in mind is hoses. If upgrading to a stubby, good review, use the cash saved to upgrade the standard hose to a longer wrapped/braided anti-kink which can be made up to suit machine fixings.
Great to see this comparison! I’ve got a similar generic gun from another brand and I’ve always wondered if an upgrade would be worth it. I’d love something which keeps the trigger pulled down rather than that daft lock thing (does anyone even use that), be a massive fatigue saver 😂😂
Thanks for the comparison and code Heather 👍 Like phone chargers I wish they would just make all pressure washers with the same connector as I have a bosch which is hard to source guns for.
That quick release should be THE standard and I'd make all others illegal. Also, I like the lock out function. I wish my Worx Hydroshot had cruise control.
And is why you buy the SGS28, lighter weight and smaller in size 🙂 Another great review, thanks. By the way, am I the only one who actually likes long lance? I have an SGS28 but most of the time I just use my OE kranzle gun with 400mm lance.
Watching the video and was feeling good about my purchase until you said "if you're just washing your car" that the MTM was overkill and I took it personally 🤣😂 cause it's all I use it for, well exception of me washing a friend's car. But I'm happy with the MTM or I'm going to just look at the positive points you made about it😂 Good comparison video
Haha honestly I think if you've got the budget for it the MTM is a great upgrade, just didn't want anyone to feel like they absolutely had to get the more expensive one to get the job done
A thorough and fair review Heather of both guns. I've got a Direct hose stubby gun which I've had for 3 years now, the only issue was the internal plunger where it presses down onto a small metal disc which eventually got pressed in and the gun wouldn't give full pressure, I did a repair which is still working but I do have a backup gun.Possibly an issue with some cheaper guns maybe after prolonged use ?
I wound up buying the in2detailing deluxe gun for my K4 and I absolutely love it. Nice soft grip and decent build. It still has brass fittings etc, although seems far superior to the Karcher one. Think it was around £40/£45 and one of the best things I've bought along with a softer 5m hose.
@@TommyT_ I have no idea to be honest. It was only an extra few quid and the soft touch grip at the back of the handle made it more appealing. Great gun although notice it’s out of stock at the moment.
I have the MTM28 with a MTM 40° degree tip that has a blue rubber guard dam thing cost $65 Australian just for the tip So i will be buying the normal one's, but i'm yet to use it. The gun and pressure washer fitting set me back $220 Australian dollars.
Love this video, not seen a comparison of the stubby guns on any of the other major detailing channels on YT, also I’ve been thinking about getting one for a while but I still consider it a ‘nice to have’ against other products I’m prioritising currently. One slightly observation though, brass like-for-like has better corrosion resistance than stainless steel. Will last over 100 years, it will go green/blue colour after a while though which is the zinc reaction but it’s not corrosion. In this scenario they’re using stainless steel for cosmetic and weight purposes. Brass does cost less as well.
I have a mix of brass and stainless quick connects , all the stainless looks and functions like new, not the same for the brass, they get harder to use with age
@@pantac4493 yeah it’s a fair point, it’s softer so no doubt constant reconnections warp the fitting over time. I was only pointing out that it certainly won’t corrode within the timescales of use. There’s a reason brass still used as the premium type of connection in bathrooms etc. but the point there is they’re rarely touched, as you’ve pointed out.
@@philgornall yeah don’t intend to change out the brass quick connects anytime soon unless it becomes a bigger problem, the output of the gun is where I like having stainless the most because of changing out nozzles and accessories. I would recommend a MTM stubby, I have the sgs28, other models seem to be similar, the light trigger pull makes a huge difference in user experience to me
Another great and honest video. Quick question, I would like to get one of these but find my pressure washer (a K7) is very powerful and I use it on one of its lower power setting via the power adjustment on the standard trigger. With these new ones I guess you lose that pressure control? Do you find that it's too powerful or is there still a way to control the pressure?
Thank you! Unfortunately that’s the downside that there’s no adjustability on either of these two guns. I know some people who use a K7 with them both though without any trouble, probs just need to be a bit more careful with how close you hold it to the car
I am always reluctant, or say it , scared to get stubby gun because of the warning that it might mess with the pressure water motor. You are changing the flow rate dynamics after all. I have a karcher K5 and the handle is very stiff, plus , swivel would help a lot with hose kinking ...
I've been using mine for quite a long time and never had any motor issues. The max flow rate of the gun massively exceeds the flow rate of the pressure washer
Good comparison. Question: before buying a trigger/short sprayer, what's it like when you connect a foam to it that's full of soap? Too heavy? Right now, I'm pulling the trigger and holding the wand on a wand type sprayer with foam cannon attached. I dont want to spend money and make my job harder. Thanks, Heather.
Thanks Kim. When it's completely full I can hold it with one hand and it doesn't usually get achy as I can manage until it starts to dispense and gets lighter. It'll definitely be easier than using a longer lance though where you have to use two hands
I’ve just upgraded to a stubby gun for use on my Karcher k4 , I find when using the autoglym snow foam bottle it’s comes out to powerful , hits the car spraying everywhere, is there any setting’s or tips to reduce this , would I be better just using a snow foam pump sprayer for this step instead
Thank you! I used this one on my K4, miles better than the stock one: www.in2detailing.co.uk/products/karcher-k-series-c-clip-to-c-clip-reinforced-heavy-duty-rubber-replacement-hose?variant=32368465313871&ghref=3377%3A53788
What is the difference between SGS35 UK and SGS28 US? It looks like SGS35 UK has higher PSI rating (5075) compared to SGS28 US (4075) - SGS35 exclusive to UK? SGS35 UK (Black) has the same specs of SGS35 Aqualine (Blue). I am confused.
Hi Heather , I’m going to go for the MTM SGS35. I buy from in2detailing quite regularly. I use a Karcher K2 . Am I correct in saying that no one sells the quick release fitting along with the gun? Do I have to purchase that separately? . It’s the MJJC foam canon I’ll be using along with it. Always enjoy your videos. Great work. Just about to give mine the full works as Spring is almost upon us!
Hi David, the quick release gun will come with a 1/4" quick release adapter to fit onto the foam cannon but the MJJC is a little different as it has a different adapter which has compatible pressure washer fitting glued into it. It is possible to get a couple of spanners to snap the glue and release the Karcher fitting so you can screw the new 1/4" adapter in but it's not very easy to do it. The easier option is probs just to get a new adapter from from In2Detailing (www.in2detailing.co.uk/products/mjjc-foam-lance-cannon-pro-replacement-adaptor?ghref=3377%3A53788) with the 1/4 adapter already on it. Hope that makes sense!
Got the MTM gun , doesn't flow any water, possibly sending back due to a fault, you had any issues? My cheap stubby works fine, not a good start for the MTM
Pretty sure brass does not corrode. It is softer than SS so might mare or take damage with use. Brass is used for water and hydraulic fittings all the time because it doesn’t corrode. The corrosion you see on the old gun is probably from a plated washer or some between the brass and stainless that is starting to rust. Could be wrong though.
It doesn’t corrode in the same way as something like iron which rusts and loses integrity. It will just start to get those green tarnish spots over time when it oxidises or is exposed to water. It’s not a massive issue performance wise unless it really starts to gunk up the quick release collar, it just doesn’t look very nice!

I’ve been using the MTM for six years now and has gone through a lot of car washes and still runs like a top
I have a Karcher K2 and the hose and Lance are diabolical. I upgraded to the a stubby gun and a proper hose both from in2detailing and I love it.

Try a few drops of silicone oil on all the joints and o rings and the gun will be smooth and quiet. 👌🏻🇨🇦
Do you know the difference between the deluxe, standard and pro is it simply the aesthetics and outer materials
@@TommyT_ I have no idea to be honest. It was only an extra few quid and the soft touch grip at the back of the handle made it more appealing. Great gun although notice it’s out of stock at the moment.
@@martyp2138 yeah I have it too but can't remember why I opted for that one specifically
Hi Marty I also have a K4, do you get an adapter with the in2detailing gun to fit karcher? I'm a newbie to detailing equipment. Thanks 😊
@@anthonycross6392 yes. You select the fitment you require
I have the MTM28 with a MTM 40° degree tip that has a blue rubber guard dam thing cost $65 Australian just for the tip
So i will be buying the normal one's, but i'm yet to use it.
The gun and pressure washer fitting set me back $220 Australian dollars.
Great video. I have the cheaper version and has lasted years tbf
Thanks Daniel!
Good video,as usual Heather 👍
Being a weekend warrior, not sure I can justify the expense of a MTM.
Thanks Richard!
Cheers Phil and thanks for the info!
I would recommend a MTM stubby, I have the sgs28, other models seem to be similar, the light trigger pull makes a huge difference in user experience to me
I'm waiting for your video.
Nice video!
Did you ever try the mjjc pressure washer trigger gun? Is it made with brass or SS?
I am always reluctant, or say it , scared to get stubby gun because of the warning that it might mess with the pressure water motor. You are changing the flow rate dynamics after all. I have a karcher K5 and the handle is very stiff, plus , swivel would help a lot with hose kinking ...
I've been using mine for quite a long time and never had any motor issues. The max flow rate of the gun massively exceeds the flow rate of the pressure washer
@@AutoCareHQ thx for the insight...
The gun just acts as a valve, the flow rate and psi changes with nozzle tip orifice size
@@pantac4493 good point ...
Hi. What kind of quick Connection do you use at the input and output on your trigger gun?
Do you have a video about hoses?
Really useful video! Could you send me a link for the nozzle with rubber cover that you use please
Can the hose on the either of the guns swivel when under pressure/in use?
Good comparison. Question: before buying a trigger/short sprayer, what's it like when you connect a foam to it that's full of soap? Too heavy? Right now, I'm pulling the trigger and holding the wand on a wand type sprayer with foam cannon attached. I dont want to spend money and make my job harder. Thanks, Heather.
Thanks Kim. When it's completely full I can hold it with one hand and it doesn't usually get achy as I can manage until it starts to dispense and gets lighter. It'll definitely be easier than using a longer lance though where you have to use two hands
My cheap one quick release brass coupling has failed only bought last may currently sourcing new part
I’ve just upgraded to a stubby gun for use on my Karcher k4 , I find when using the autoglym snow foam bottle it’s comes out to powerful , hits the car spraying everywhere, is there any setting’s or tips to reduce this , would I be better just using a snow foam pump sprayer for this step instead
how do you deal with stone chips on your red mazda
Hi heather another great demonstration you have got to many gadgets you will need a bigger place soon 😄😄
Cheers Dave, I definitely need a garage now 😂
Good video, i wonder can you use both of these guns for example on karcher k4 or any other pressure washer?
Thanks for watching :) Yep as long as you swap the adapter for the hose you can use it on any pressure washer
Will both of the guns fit on a karcher hose ?
I have the in2detailing "Deluxe" gun and I have no idea what the difference is between the deluxe and other ones tbh
Great video! I'm also wondering, what hose do you use? It looks very skinny and easy to handle. Does it tend to tangle?
Thank you! I used this one on my K4, miles better than the stock one: www.in2detailing.co.uk/products/karcher-k-series-c-clip-to-c-clip-reinforced-heavy-duty-rubber-replacement-hose?variant=32368465313871&ghref=3377%3A53788
@@AutoCareHQ thanks!
Does anyone know if the auto glym snow foam cannon goes straight on the cheaper version?
Hey Heather. What wheels/mags do you have fitted? I have the same car and like the look of your wheels. Thx in advance.
Hi Raj, here's a link to the wheels. I've got the 17x7" ET40 4x100 ones in Hyper Black :)

@@AutoCareHQ Thank you Heather. Much appreciated.
Is there a way to adapt the MTM to fit on a Karsher pressure washer? I love your content! Thanks in advance!
Yep I'm using it on a Karcher here. When you purchase one you just need to select the right adapter and it'll fit straight onto the hose
@@AutoCareHQ Thanks a lot !!
@@simontherien3387 No problem, thanks for watching!
@@AutoCareHQ Thank you Heather 🙏👍
You mention the guns, but what machine can you use these on?..
Great review video
Thanks Mike, hope you're well :)
@@AutoCareHQ thank you 😃

Foookin hell mate, carscope does not ship nozzles abroad, only to UK, is there any nozzle brand with similar quality available in Europe?
What degree of aftermarket nozzle do you use?
Mainly the 25 degree one
