Even if it is not a paid promotion, I feel it would be thoughtful to say that you got granted early access to the game by a marketing agent. As to some, including myself, feel that (even if you don't do it conciously. not saying you do it) the impression may be skewed by simply being give early access. Just a thought.
From what I can tell Peon you're really the only person that doesn't do most, if not all, the side quests. In every MMO I play I usually accept every quest I come across just because I figure "hey it's free xp"

ya you're right on that. He ends up getting overwhelmed and mashing buttons. I don't think he would have survived with the combat in the first closed beta. They had to dumb it down a lot because it was ridiculously hard.
I guess i conveyed my sentence wrong. I meant to tell at because he said so and it looked like so and i think it was one of the things that bothered him the most about the combat system as a rogue. It's not my opinion as someone who didn't ever play that game.

I heard some hype about this game and came to see if you tried it out and you did! so I started playing it about a week ago and I came back to see all the cons you mentioned and almost all of them have been fixed. the game is very fun and definitely has me hooked as of now. the combat feels much better then what you encountered and I'm playing an assassin. the fps drops rarely for me. they just increased the level cap and are doing content updates every month to catch up with the Korean version since it has been out there for about 2 years or so iirc. you should give this game a real go again it's very good overall they even made a ui scale just for you ;)
What you said is Very True about it being fun and the new Contents/LV Cap. BUT there are 2 Big Issues about the Game: 1. Gold Spammers 24/7 even if I block them they'll just make a new character with a new name & respam more gold. 2. Hackers/Cheaters everywhere, Killing Mods for Gold & Materials, Here's What They Do: 1. Invisible so no one can see them when they are killing. 2. Spamming the Skills on the spot killing everything. 3. Being Invincible meaning can't die or loose health, Grind all day. 4. Teleporting to Mods in a Flash and Killing them & Teleporting Back. Back & Forth Spamming Skills so mobs can't react.
+Tony Tran hmm I haven't encountered the cheaters but have seen the spammers. every game has those. even the big companies can't do much about it so I don't expect this one to either. but the cheaters they said on the livestream the other day they are starting to implement ways to combat those.

If bosses aren't CC immune then pretty much with the right class you could solo them which in many MMORPG can never be a reality because of guild/alliance/party system.
Hey! I've watched all the latest stuff I've missed and I'm not on the back catalog. It's crazy how much your voice has changed in these last 5.5 years.
As I am sure many other people in the comments have told you, the Assassin isn't shit and the controls aren't bad, you just had no idea what you were doing. The dodge can not dodge all attacks as it is a tab targeting game but you can get out of the way of big windup attacks. Melee classes are going to take damage, that's just how the system works so the assassin has to rely on using cc and burst to deal with mobs. As you saw, there is a combos system and it's very important in this game. Some skills work better and faster, with less down time depending on how you chain them. The combat might feel static and buggy at first but it's because you don't know all the skills chain together. Edit: The mounts have energy so you have a reason to have multiple and switch between them.
dude well said i sayin to the screen the same thing. I played this game when it went into like close beta 2 or something and i picked the assassin and i had no issue with it at all. When he said the mounts have energy thats what the reason i thought of. If they didnt you wuoldnt have a reason to collect more. For me im not really big on collecting things so i would stick to one mount. With this system ill have to go get more mounts to use. which is nice
joshua jones lol priest is actually one of the heaviest hitting classes of the game :P not only does it hit harder than a wizard at low level (im sure it equals out at higher level) but you can heal yourself and your group through anything..its complete OP

It isn't a lazy mechanic. Lower level mounts have lower flying caps. That is how it should be in every game that has flying, the lower quality your mount (normal, heroic, epic, legendary for this game) the less you should be able to fly. The game is called "Riders of Icarus' for a reason you are supposed to want to go out and collect better mounts.
turn the coin. Why does it have to have a base quality? more like I should be able to train it all the way from normal to legendary. getting a normal one, realizing it's crap much later, and the whole time invested being a waste is annoying. Regardless of of how people describe it.

Thanks for posting this video! I really can't stand top-down (45 degree angle) games, so this one is right down my alley. This game didn't take long to install, and I spent several hours on it today. I currently play Aion, Archeage, BattleStar Galactica Online (Fave!), Blade & Soul, Lord of the Rings, NeverWinter, Rev Online, Star Trek, Star Wars TOR, Tera, and Wildstar. Keep up the great videos!
My brother told me he found this new MMO (which is this game) that he is going to try out and asked me to tag along.. but I don't know, from the trailer I found it a little bit "meh". So experienced players, is this game worth even putting any time into it? What are the biggest pros and cons of the game?

Just some notes if you ever play this more. Good first impression video by the way. :) Reasoning for the pet/familiar energy bar is so you are A)having to use strategy on those advantages instead of having them out all the time, and B)gaining some empathy and caring for your animals. Also noting here that depending on type and rarity of familiars you can gain buffs and active skills depending on what you have summoned. The craft merchants (and other shops) have different tabs with lots of other items you can buy. You were likely missing how to buy the spirit water because of that. Also I suggest anytime you see anything that can be mined or gathered do so, especially since you can get special ingredients and taming item stuff sometimes. Try to combo your move sets. You will notice that certain moves when combo ready will appear as an icon in the middle-ish part of your screen. Some moves you can repeatedly press a certain amount of time before cooldown to build up for your combos. Lots more damage that way. :) Noticed you fell from your familiar when you flew too high and took damage because of the fall. In the future if that happens, just press the U key on the keyboard and you can re-summon your flying familiar mid-air. The U key brings out the most recent familiar, granted that they have the available energy, but in that case you would have had no problems. Y key is for your familiars btw. Fun little thing, if you most recently had a flying familiar summoned, you can jump and press U while your character is running and have a really smooth flying mount transition. I just started this game myself a little after the public beta launch and I am a level 15 Guardian now. I gotta say it is a very interesting game, ESPECIALLY for free. Have a good one!
can you stop with "eastern gamers doesnt mind pay to win"? theres reason why most of Korean MMORPGs are ported to other country...because it has very small user pool. most of us prefer games that arent pay to win, isnt grindy, and most importantly, fun to play. thats why games like league and overwatch is a huge hit in here. I really enjoy watching ur videos and I actually watched most of it but its starting to irritate me a little when u say stuff like that. anyways keep up the good work and sorry if im being too salty.

Mount energy isn't pointless. It is common knowledge that horses get tired so it makes the game more immersive if you have a mechanic imitating that. It is one of the few things this game did right as an RPG yet you complain about it and praise loot teleporting to you which makes no sense. You got it backwards, RPGs arent at all about holding your hand and convenience.
The game is more immersive with mounts getting tired and having to change them... by making the tired mount disappear into thin air and making the new mount appear from nowhere? Alrighty then.
I feel like the crossbow has 1 more ability you didn't get that you can spam ( like a spammable auto attack) and once you get 3 of those hits, it will open up the other 2 abilities that require combo-chaining. That's what I had to do on my berserker when I was playing the beta. Shame that you didn't get to experience the actual aerial combo chaining or the polearm. I feel like this game has some fun and unique idea's but I would love to see them put into an open world with action or even Wildstar telegraph style combat. Thanks for the vid peon!
I feel like you need to do another video on Riders of Icarus in its current state. If you did I wouldn't know I have only watched but a handful of your videos. I also feel like you clearly and intelligently explain yourself when it comes to things such as pros and cons and hope to see a new Riders of Icarus video mainly because you are the most easiest youtube/game reviewer to understand when it comes to game detail explaining.

also for the assassin one of the biggest things is to keep your evasion up, which can be done by double tapping any of the wasd keys to do a quick dash. which also changes the effects of some of the attacks, think of it like a rogue without a in-depth stealth mechanic, it's going to be tough to master and very difficult to fight multiple enemies but it's definitely powerful
*Watches video* _facedesk_ Where to even begin... Unicorns don't fly..nor was that even a unicorn. This game has also changed a lot. Also, please, play the game and get to know it before judging it like this. There are different types of controls. If you want to be good at the game, you have to be good at your class, get to know it. Things are never easy in mmo's, I don't know what you expected. And, that's not kiting, that's running away from the mob. The aggro range is actually very helpful, you can reset familiars when taming them, which helps a lot. Also, for all who can't or don't want to play it because it was released by NEXON, there is a version called Project Icarus Online, the slightly more updated one. This is also the early stages of the game, so of course there will be bugs. The only true problem I experienced while playing this game, was that you had to do a lot of side quests to level up, but this also has an up side because you may get marks, recipes, gear or mats from doing them, so it's not awful. Also, this is not an easy solo game, so I recommending going in it with some friends. :D Rant over.
You had some valid points even though people below probably didn't understand your arguments. Some people made comments along the lines of "he went 50 yards away when kiting"...they obviously think that old mechanics should still reign supreme, besides aren't able to visually estimate accurately that you only went 20 maybe 30 yards at most which shouldn't be used for a reset table. I only checked out this video because I saw an appealing preview for this game elsewhere and your review was top of list. I agree that dodging and the hit box seemed to be an issue according to your video as well. The dodging worked semi-well in that it gave you distance outside of the hit box allowed for the npc to tag you, but it seemed pointless. I think if they refined the hitbox, loosened the reset distances, and if there were a good review for Guardian and Priest (these 2 are important when we're talking about holy trinity MMO's) the game might deserve some time. I've played almost every developer's games and this one by Nexon unfortunately seems like a summer hit, then cult classic - sad, but what happens often to games that are released f2p by well-known developers for their cash shops. Wait, so the entire big selling point of the game, flying mounts, are limited-use and auto kick you off when they run out of a limited stamina? Why do mmorpgs do this? It seemed so simply, having a ton of mounts to collect and raise, having flying mounts that "feel" like flying and no cheap "limited" use crap, but no, we can't have that.
Thanks for making me download this game! For some reason, it's not groundbreaking, but is so smooth and fun to play! I also love flying so early in the game and all the mount taming and switching!
There is not "best MMORPG", it is based mostly on opinions. My favourite one at the moment is Guild Wars 2, but WoW is always a safe choice. Just look up some more video's from LazyPeon on a few mmo's so you can decide for yourself

After maybe every 5-10 mmo's you try/make videos for in this series, you can do a short video to say which of the latest games you would recommend trying, and which you would recommend staying away from? No you can dodge mob attacks if you watch other people playing you would know this too. You just suck at dodging that's all it's not the game's fault your actions are delayed. It's a matter of prediction like in Blade and Soul.
"I'm underlevelled... I haven't skipped any quest..." Gosh, so the game didn't hold your hand with easy quests for easy levelling? Damn, 0/10, absolute fail. Hint: Grinding is a part in all MMORPGs, expecting quests to hold your hand to max level like in Tera is being a spoiled baby.
i was absolutely hyped for this game. The trailers gave me goosebumps like no other game. I paid for founder and i was just beyond beyond disappointed. I don't think I have ever been so disappointed of anything so hard before. I wish I had found your channel before I bought my founder.
Just thought I'd clarify the action combat in Riders is actually pretty good if you use it right. Craig was using auto attack as his left click when he was in action combat which is a complete mistake. Each action combat class gets a combo which you should use as your primary attack which actually attacks when you left click while auto attack is more of a tab targeting thing. I would't rule out action combat in this Riders because of what Craig said but pretty much everything else is valid. Still a good video and as a new player, some could miss the combos

Thank you for the first impressions Lazypeon. i actually just tried the game a couple hours ago myself and for a generic mmo based game, its so far surprised me at how decent it is. its definitely no wow killer (figuratively speaking) but like you said, if you dont put your expectations to high, id have to agree, its worth some fun time in. Honestly if blizzard would stop milking their old mmo and revamp it to modern graphics like guild wars 2 did, but without changing at all how the game itself works and plays, id say they would probly really nail everyone and get me back into it. but anymore i just dont feel they deserve my money for how little they change. well anyways, off topic there, haha. thanks for the review on this game. please keep up the great work!

The assassin class dodging system works around s. So you CAN dodge abilities if you use your s right. Dodging gives you a second or so of invulnerability.
I've played the game for some hours now, and I just seem to fucking love it so far. I'll start by saying, I rolled a wizard just so I can check out if the complains of Peon were right or wrong, and I can say they are wrong as hell. If you had taken the time to check out every one of your abilities, you wouldn't have that much of a hard time. I really have no compaints about the game whatsoever, just some minor ones. The combat feels great, and the mounted combat is FUCKING INCREDIBLE. About the point that was made in the video, each zone has a height in the game, meaning that there are high and low points to them. Each mount has a limit at which height it can fly. For example the first flying mount you obtain, can only fly up to 90m. height. If you are already at this height on foot, that means that said flying mount can't fly there. This is something that changes though, as rarer flying mounts can fly higher than others. About the tame points: You earn so many potions to refill them, so I really don't see the deal. About the stamina of the flying mount: Same as tame points. The instanced zones do feel Open world, even if the game is not open world. They are pretty huge. My only complaint has to do with the main city instancing, which, I believe, is pretty stupid. Overall it's a great game, and I would suggest everyone to check out at least until level 15, because that's the point where the game starts being really fun. Sorry for my bad english.
when you choose a character,are there classes? for instance,in Echo of Soul when you choose sorceress,at lvl 10 you choose firemage or icemage,same for the other 5 characters.
Biggest issue I have with Riders of Icarus is the leveling. Without a subscription, you will be behind the level for an area. You'll reach end game 1 or 2 levels short, even with every quest in the game done. So unless you get the 20% xp boost from membership, you will lag behind and be weak and struggle through content - because you'll always be 1-2 levels under the mobs.
I know this video is a couple weeks old now but I hope you revisit it. I feel some some aspects of the game you didn't understand like the fact that you have to destabilize stronger opponents before things like slows and fears will work on them. I like that your mounts and pets have stamina because it makes it so you are constantly switching between familiars and stops everyone in the end of just using one thing.

The assassin is the only class that can dodge in all four directions. The wizard can only blink forward and backwards. Since this isn't an action combat game you aren't going to be able to dodge every attack especially since there is no telegraphing, but the dodging for the assassin is very integral for the play style whether it dodges successfully or not because the dodging is literally used to chain almost every ability for the assassin. The mechanic is less for dodging and more for combos and is fun. There is a separate stat that dictates your chance to dodge attacks and that's "evasion". A stat that usually isn't in action games that utilizes proper dodging, but this isn't an action game it's tab targeting at its core. The only difference between the two play modes in this game is that one allows you to freely move the camera with your mouse and utilizes left and right clicking for skills, but even in the action mode for this game you can still use the tab button to switch enemies. The cross hair in this game is literally there for looks.
The Two Mounted skills there you use once you get the crossbow attack that says "Combo" in the bottom right corner... After holding down or pressing that particular skill 1-5 times a prompt will appear for using those combo attacks.
ive played this game, and i find it to be a lot of fun catching the different mounts and such, keeping in mind that its a beta and that the crafting system, raiding etc is very limited right now. I think its a lot of fun, after playing it for 41 hours. I still have a lot of more mounts to find, and more of the world to explore, currently at level 24, with level 25 being the max level at this point, i think once the full game comes out it'll be a lot of fun. I like the dungeons, and the increasing difficulties. playing as a wizard myself, i can solo pretty much anything except for bosses in 2player elite plus mode. (very hard difficulty) so it might be a bit too easy right now. i didnt have any problems in the story missions or anything like that, and enjoyed the game for the most part. always found it fun to go to new areas to find new tamable mounts, which made it interesting. the mounted combat i feel isnt as good because i tend to die easier that way, so it did make it a bit harder to fight in the air as a wizard especially while fighting magical birds and such, seeing as if i get hit 2-3 times i die. luckily for me ive played with a friend whos a guardian for most of my time playing, ever since level 14, and we have been doing pretty well, and havent had any big issues as far as very hard difficulties go, even though hes fairly new to mmos, with myself being rather familiar with mmos. i have yet to try 10 man raiding, and the 5man dungeons, and i hope that brings more of a challenge than the dungeons do, seeing as the 2man dungeons are able to be done without a healer. this game is definitely worth trying in my opinion, i find it a lot of fun, and will probably play it until no man's sky comes out. :P

I heard some hype about this game and came to see if you tried it out and you did! so I started playing it about a week ago and I came back to see all the cons you mentioned and almost all of them have been fixed. the game is very fun and definitely has me hooked as of now. the combat feels much better then what you encountered and I'm playing an assassin. the fps drops rarely for me. they just increased the level cap and are doing content updates every month to catch up with the Korean version since it has been out there for about 2 years or so iirc. you should give this game a real go again it's very good overall they even made a ui scale just for you ;)
What you said is Very True about it being fun and the new Contents/LV Cap.
BUT there are 2 Big Issues about the Game:
1. Gold Spammers 24/7 even if I block them they'll just make a new character with a new name & respam more gold.
2. Hackers/Cheaters everywhere, Killing Mods for Gold & Materials,
Here's What They Do:
1. Invisible so no one can see them when they are killing.
2. Spamming the Skills on the spot killing everything.
3. Being Invincible meaning can't die or loose health, Grind all day.
4. Teleporting to Mods in a Flash and Killing them & Teleporting Back.
Back & Forth Spamming Skills so mobs can't react.

As I am sure many other people in the comments have told you, the Assassin isn't shit and the controls aren't bad, you just had no idea what you were doing. The dodge can not dodge all attacks as it is a tab targeting game but you can get out of the way of big windup attacks. Melee classes are going to take damage, that's just how the system works so the assassin has to rely on using cc and burst to deal with mobs.
As you saw, there is a combos system and it's very important in this game. Some skills work better and faster, with less down time depending on how you chain them. The combat might feel static and buggy at first but it's because you don't know all the skills chain together.
Edit: The mounts have energy so you have a reason to have multiple and switch between them.
dude well said i sayin to the screen the same thing. I played this game when it went into like close beta 2 or something and i picked the assassin and i had no issue with it at all. When he said the mounts have energy thats what the reason i thought of. If they didnt you wuoldnt have a reason to collect more. For me im not really big on collecting things so i would stick to one mount. With this system ill have to go get more mounts to use. which is nice

It isn't a lazy mechanic. Lower level mounts have lower flying caps. That is how it should be in every game that has flying, the lower quality your mount (normal, heroic, epic, legendary for this game) the less you should be able to fly. The game is called "Riders of Icarus' for a reason you are supposed to want to go out and collect better mounts.
turn the coin. Why does it have to have a base quality? more like I should be able to train it all the way from normal to legendary. getting a normal one, realizing it's crap much later, and the whole time invested being a waste is annoying. Regardless of of how people describe it.

Just some notes if you ever play this more. Good first impression video by the way. :)
Reasoning for the pet/familiar energy bar is so you are A)having to use strategy on those advantages instead of having them out all the time, and B)gaining some empathy and caring for your animals. Also noting here that depending on type and rarity of familiars you can gain buffs and active skills depending on what you have summoned.
The craft merchants (and other shops) have different tabs with lots of other items you can buy. You were likely missing how to buy the spirit water because of that. Also I suggest anytime you see anything that can be mined or gathered do so, especially since you can get special ingredients and taming item stuff sometimes.
Try to combo your move sets. You will notice that certain moves when combo ready will appear as an icon in the middle-ish part of your screen. Some moves you can repeatedly press a certain amount of time before cooldown to build up for your combos. Lots more damage that way. :)
Noticed you fell from your familiar when you flew too high and took damage because of the fall. In the future if that happens, just press the U key on the keyboard and you can re-summon your flying familiar mid-air. The U key brings out the most recent familiar, granted that they have the available energy, but in that case you would have had no problems. Y key is for your familiars btw.
Fun little thing, if you most recently had a flying familiar summoned, you can jump and press U while your character is running and have a really smooth flying mount transition.
I just started this game myself a little after the public beta launch and I am a level 15 Guardian now. I gotta say it is a very interesting game, ESPECIALLY for free.

Mount energy isn't pointless. It is common knowledge that horses get tired so it makes the game more immersive if you have a mechanic imitating that. It is one of the few things this game did right as an RPG yet you complain about it and praise loot teleporting to you which makes no sense. You got it backwards, RPGs arent at all about holding your hand and convenience.
The game is more immersive with mounts getting tired and having to change them... by making the tired mount disappear into thin air and making the new mount appear from nowhere? Alrighty then.
The option of stamina adds a layer of depth to combat and using your energy sparingly and strategically.

That was my question. Unicorns do not fly. Pegasus fly. A Pegacorn (cross between a Pegasus and a Unicorn) can fly.
I feel like the crossbow has 1 more ability you didn't get that you can spam ( like a spammable auto attack) and once you get 3 of those hits, it will open up the other 2 abilities that require combo-chaining. That's what I had to do on my berserker when I was playing the beta. Shame that you didn't get to experience the actual aerial combo chaining or the polearm. I feel like this game has some fun and unique idea's but I would love to see them put into an open world with action or even Wildstar telegraph style combat. Thanks for the vid peon!

also for the assassin one of the biggest things is to keep your evasion up, which can be done by double tapping any of the wasd keys to do a quick dash. which also changes the effects of some of the attacks, think of it like a rogue without a in-depth stealth mechanic, it's going to be tough to master and very difficult to fight multiple enemies but it's definitely powerful

Where to even begin...
Unicorns don't fly..nor was that even a unicorn. This game has also changed a lot. Also, please, play the game and get to know it before judging it like this. There are different types of controls. If you want to be good at the game, you have to be good at your class, get to know it. Things are never easy in mmo's, I don't know what you expected. And, that's not kiting, that's running away from the mob. The aggro range is actually very helpful, you can reset familiars when taming them, which helps a lot. Also, for all who can't or don't want to play it because it was released by NEXON, there is a version called Project Icarus Online, the slightly more updated one. This is also the early stages of the game, so of course there will be bugs.
The only true problem I experienced while playing this game, was that you had to do a lot of side quests to level up, but this also has an up side because you may get marks, recipes, gear or mats from doing them, so it's not awful. Also, this is not an easy solo game, so I recommending going in it with some friends. :D

You had some valid points even though people below probably didn't understand your arguments. Some people made comments along the lines of "he went 50 yards away when kiting"...they obviously think that old mechanics should still reign supreme, besides aren't able to visually estimate accurately that you only went 20 maybe 30 yards at most which shouldn't be used for a reset table. I only checked out this video because I saw an appealing preview for this game elsewhere and your review was top of list.
I agree that dodging and the hit box seemed to be an issue according to your video as well. The dodging worked semi-well in that it gave you distance outside of the hit box allowed for the npc to tag you, but it seemed pointless. I think if they refined the hitbox, loosened the reset distances, and if there were a good review for Guardian and Priest (these 2 are important when we're talking about holy trinity MMO's) the game might deserve some time. I've played almost every developer's games and this one by Nexon unfortunately seems like a summer hit, then cult classic - sad, but what happens often to games that are released f2p by well-known developers for their cash shops.

There is not "best MMORPG", it is based mostly on opinions. My favourite one at the moment is Guild Wars 2, but WoW is always a safe choice. Just look up some more video's from LazyPeon on a few mmo's so you can decide for yourself

No you can dodge mob attacks if you watch other people playing you would know this too. You just suck at dodging that's all it's not the game's fault your actions are delayed. It's a matter of prediction like in Blade and Soul.
B&S requires a lot of skill, u need to have fast reactions and good timing

i was absolutely hyped for this game. The trailers gave me goosebumps like no other game. I paid for founder and i was just beyond beyond disappointed. I don't think I have ever been so disappointed of anything so hard before. I wish I had found your channel before I bought my founder.
Just thought I'd clarify the action combat in Riders is actually pretty good if you use it right. Craig was using auto attack as his left click when he was in action combat which is a complete mistake. Each action combat class gets a combo which you should use as your primary attack which actually attacks when you left click while auto attack is more of a tab targeting thing. I would't rule out action combat in this Riders because of what Craig said but pretty much everything else is valid. Still a good video and as a new player, some could miss the combos

Thank you for the first impressions Lazypeon. i actually just tried the game a couple hours ago myself and for a generic mmo based game, its so far surprised me at how decent it is. its definitely no wow killer (figuratively speaking) but like you said, if you dont put your expectations to high, id have to agree, its worth some fun time in. Honestly if blizzard would stop milking their old mmo and revamp it to modern graphics like guild wars 2 did, but without changing at all how the game itself works and plays, id say they would probly really nail everyone and get me back into it. but anymore i just dont feel they deserve my money for how little they change. well anyways, off topic there, haha. thanks for the review on this game. please keep up the great work!

The assassin class dodging system works around s. So you CAN dodge abilities if you use your s right. Dodging gives you a second or so of invulnerability.

I've played the game for some hours now, and I just seem to fucking love it so far. I'll start by saying, I rolled a wizard just so I can check out if the complains of Peon were right or wrong, and I can say they are wrong as hell. If you had taken the time to check out every one of your abilities, you wouldn't have that much of a hard time. I really have no compaints about the game whatsoever, just some minor ones. The combat feels great, and the mounted combat is FUCKING INCREDIBLE. About the point that was made in the video, each zone has a height in the game, meaning that there are high and low points to them. Each mount has a limit at which height it can fly. For example the first flying mount you obtain, can only fly up to 90m. height. If you are already at this height on foot, that means that said flying mount can't fly there. This is something that changes though, as rarer flying mounts can fly higher than others. About the tame points: You earn so many potions to refill them, so I really don't see the deal. About the stamina of the flying mount: Same as tame points. The instanced zones do feel Open world, even if the game is not open world. They are pretty huge. My only complaint has to do with the main city instancing, which, I believe, is pretty stupid. Overall it's a great game, and I would suggest everyone to check out at least until level 15, because that's the point where the game starts being really fun. Sorry for my bad english.

I have only one question: Does this game have costumes like anime ears or some trollish cosmetics like korean mmos do?
Biggest issue I have with Riders of Icarus is the leveling. Without a subscription, you will be behind the level for an area. You'll reach end game 1 or 2 levels short, even with every quest in the game done. So unless you get the 20% xp boost from membership, you will lag behind and be weak and struggle through content - because you'll always be 1-2 levels under the mobs.
I know this video is a couple weeks old now but I hope you revisit it. I feel some some aspects of the game you didn't understand like the fact that you have to destabilize stronger opponents before things like slows and fears will work on them. I like that your mounts and pets have stamina because it makes it so you are constantly switching between familiars and stops everyone in the end of just using one thing.

The assassin is the only class that can dodge in all four directions. The wizard can only blink forward and backwards. Since this isn't an action combat game you aren't going to be able to dodge every attack especially since there is no telegraphing, but the dodging for the assassin is very integral for the play style whether it dodges successfully or not because the dodging is literally used to chain almost every ability for the assassin. The mechanic is less for dodging and more for combos and is fun. There is a separate stat that dictates your chance to dodge attacks and that's "evasion". A stat that usually isn't in action games that utilizes proper dodging, but this isn't an action game it's tab targeting at its core. The only difference between the two play modes in this game is that one allows you to freely move the camera with your mouse and utilizes left and right clicking for skills, but even in the action mode for this game you can still use the tab button to switch enemies. The cross hair in this game is literally there for looks.
The Two Mounted skills there you use once you get the crossbow attack that says "Combo" in the bottom right corner... After holding down or pressing that particular skill 1-5 times a prompt will appear for using those combo attacks.
ive played this game, and i find it to be a lot of fun catching the different mounts and such, keeping in mind that its a beta and that the crafting system, raiding etc is very limited right now. I think its a lot of fun, after playing it for 41 hours. I still have a lot of more mounts to find, and more of the world to explore, currently at level 24, with level 25 being the max level at this point, i think once the full game comes out it'll be a lot of fun. I like the dungeons, and the increasing difficulties. playing as a wizard myself, i can solo pretty much anything except for bosses in 2player elite plus mode. (very hard difficulty) so it might be a bit too easy right now. i didnt have any problems in the story missions or anything like that, and enjoyed the game for the most part. always found it fun to go to new areas to find new tamable mounts, which made it interesting. the mounted combat i feel isnt as good because i tend to die easier that way, so it did make it a bit harder to fight in the air as a wizard especially while fighting magical birds and such, seeing as if i get hit 2-3 times i die. luckily for me ive played with a friend whos a guardian for most of my time playing, ever since level 14, and we have been doing pretty well, and havent had any big issues as far as very hard difficulties go, even though hes fairly new to mmos, with myself being rather familiar with mmos.
i have yet to try 10 man raiding, and the 5man dungeons, and i hope that brings more of a challenge than the dungeons do, seeing as the 2man dungeons are able to be done without a healer.
this game is definitely worth trying in my opinion, i find it a lot of fun, and will probably play it until no man's sky comes out. :P
