4:10 I love how you talk about pollution then advertise a product that has disposable plastic. This is the reason why the problem will never be solved...
Yeah I thought exactly the same thing, a whole video about how the throwaway commercialized society is poisoning itself.... followed by an ad for a throwaway commercial product packing food into plastic when cardboard would do just as well. sigh, we really are just going to kill ourselves off.
yip, i cant stand it.. in my job i have to replace parts anually when they reach their expiry date, even though they will be fine for years and years to come, and they generally dont even get used... everyday i have to throw away so much plastic, and it all just goes straight to the tip, wish we were a green company, but that might hurt the profit margin... its all about meeting that mythical budget.. its bs. where do people think this trash is going? if i throw out that much everyday, into a generalised garbage bin, then doesnt that mean every other company is doing the same? thats thousands of tonnes of garbage in one city alone, per day.. people need to flipping realise this... funny thing is, i stll go to work everyday and do the same thing.... humans, what can i say? were hopeless
It's great that people are concerned about this, but it's not like we're going to see any movement for the better from an administration that's planning to allow coal waste to be dumped into local waterways.
Not to mention reducing regulations on gas emissions and limiting the number of protected species. Yep, that orange turd and his mates hate living things...
I live in an urban neighborhood in MD. Every time I go outside there is trash fucking everywhere. Even on an old playground that hasn't been open for years. I tired of it. I live with my mom but I don't have to stay here. I could live in a much better neighborhood but I don't just want to leave all this trash here. And I will not live in a fucking dump either. After watching this video I have decided to clean up all this trash myself.
That's very nice.. but where is it ultimately going to go after that? Incineration leads to carbon dioxide and other nasties.. massive landfills are practically filled up.. We need to learn not to be so wasteful and make containers out of biodegradable materials..
I have thought about this after posting my comment. I'm doing some research on proper recycling techniques and thinking of ways to get my community involved. From what I've been seeing the trash is mostly paper, plastic, and aluminum cans. I know from experience that there is a good aluminum recycling center near me. But I haven't actually done research on where that aluminum goes or how green that company is. So before I get started with the actual clean up I'm researching nearby recycling centers as well as proper recycling and composting.
I say we turn the floating garbage pile into a giant island by burning it and fusing it into an ashen lump we can fertilize and turn into an island like that guy who made a recycled trash island where the root systems of the trees and plants kept the island locked together (it floats, too!)
If it was forced down enough depth then the pressure of the ocean will force it down to the ocean floor even if it still has air in it. Same idea if you dove down like 100m then if you stop moving you will start "falling" deeper and deeper because of the pressure of the water on you body.
Naruto Uzumaki I live on land we have plenty of garbage that isn't being picked up to be worrying about what goes on in the ocean thousands of miles away and thousands of feet deep.
why doesn't the entire world just spend an entire year doing nothing but agriculture and cleaning pollution we could feed ourselves and keep from eventually killing all life on earth
Nerdlin Geeksly sounds like a great idea but a few questions.... who's gonna pay for it and do you think the whole world will work together to pick up trash?NOPE
Exactly. But instead, all we worry about is immigration, war, all this stuff that could end everything, but yet they're unaware that we are slowly destroying our planet.

Thanks a lot for adding that it's not only harmful to us but also to the rest of the biosphere. I find it problematic that people only react to pollution if they are reminded that it also hits themselves back sooner or later. If pollution "only" killed plants and animals but not humans I'm afraid to say many would just not care.

Ten years ago I was living in New Zealand and watched a documentary about the fish that live in a deep trench off the coast of NZ .In one part it was talking about some goofy looking fish and in the background I saw a plastic bag rolling around. The bag rolled over and said "Walmart" and I thought to myself "People in the United States will never see this documentary".
These videos make me so sad. They are so necessary. It is extremely important to avoid over packaging and avoiding disposable objects. If there is no other choice, then make sure its recyclable. I wish the government took more action by regulating packaging in store products. Chips are a primary example. So much packaging for such little product. There needs to be better and more efficient options.
We only apply as a negative. Humans gloat about fixing problems or finding "cures" for things that shouldn't exist. It's also the out of sight out of mind complication which most seem fall into. Also take in perspective the real animal food chain. How one helps another in a living state and also in death. For example blue whales help the sea by consuming plankton and other species. After they poop, they fertilize the photosynthesis area of the sea. And also kick up more organisms with their fins. Which then leads to more krill and plankton to reproduce. Which boost the ecosystem and also helps with Co2 pollution. Another example, when a lion or whatever kills an antelope. It doesn't just make a meal for a true carnivore but; also can bring more land to graze for future antelopes due to fertilization. If we kill our oceans we kill ourselves.

This is a GROWING problem that will only get worse unless people learn a couple things, how to recycle properly and dispose of trash properly and also, straying away from plastics to find a better shipping material.
When I was in the Marines on our MEU deployment, we would go into designated areas and conduct "Trash Calls". Everyone on the boat would get in a long line from the trash room to the flight deck. We would pass bags of trash, one by one to each person, until those bags reached the final person on the top of the ship. He would then toss the bag of trash over the side, leaving trails of floating bags MILES long. No one seemed to think anything was wrong with this; and apparently nations have agreed upon designating areas of the ocean where it's appropriate to dump all trash.
when we're done polluting Mars, we might be technologically able to go to Titan and start over there. Humanity will be known as a traveling species of planet killers.
Well technically we won't be killing any planets, because we aren't literally destroying the planet, if anything we would bring new life to those planets considering... well you know... they don't have life.
some researchers have called the picture of 'spam' an attempt to sensationalize the ocean pollution. at those depths and water pressure , the can is supposed to be highly compressed along with ink fading and not looking the way it does . anyways it helps raise awareness towards ocean pollution so..
Me after visiting the trench : Damn where's my spam? Well too late probably left it at the trench. Well time to watch UA-cam about the trench. *watches video* So that's where my spam went!
The Last Targaryen listen just because your house has fallen into ruins does not mean you have to do the rest of the seven Kingdoms and everyone else who lives here.
No it can't. A full can of soda or any product would be crushed. A open can or any container , the pressure is equal inside and outside, same on any other trash.
Even if it did crush everything. Crushing means nothing for the problems it causes, it is still the same thing, just smashed. If anything, it makes it would make it worse, making it easier to be ingested by living organisms.
Did you know that Target accepts any food-grade packaging, plastic film, and plastic bags? You can recycle them at the station near the bathrooms. They then turn them into other bags that they use. Also, I pick up street trash and rinse it once a week in a day's worth of bath water AKA grey water. And anything that is not fit for curbside recycling such as toothpaste tubes, toothbrushes, Oddball items Etc goes in a special bin which I then take to a place called JJ's recycling. They put it in a landfill and harvest the methane gas and sell it back to the electric company. So in reality everything can be recycled. Please locate one of these facilities nearest to you!
I hiked 14 miles into the forest for a camp trip. No trail not a spot where anybody really would go. Long hike to the middle of nowhere. Found a good spot set up camp. Walked around a little bit to get familiar. Found empty beer cans spent shotgun shells and plastic bottles and bags. Trash everywhere now its sad.
Robert Daggett Lazy, maybe. Inaccurate, not for a UA-cam video. 26000 ft is 7924.8 m. 10000 ft is 3048 m, which, for a basic UA-cam video, is close enough to “a little more than 1/3.” It’s not that hard. Stop complaining, the U.S. will change eventually, and it already has in many places.
Robert Daggett My posted numbers are accurate to the numbers-place as posted, 26000 ft DIVIDED BY 3.28 feet/meter EQUALS 7926.8, which is within TWO METERS of what I said. Learn basic Algebra before saying my numbers are wrong and that I should apologize, Moron. Google, Bing, or other search for "feet to meter," plug in the feet and get the same number I did. I just now checked 5 different sites to verify that the numbers were indeed right. BTW, a yard is 3 feet, not 6. Just clarifying because I could not follow the poor grammar in your last sentence.
i call BS!!!!!!!!!! you telling me that plastic and tin food cans made it all the way down there when it will crush glass into dust at that level????? the density at that deep level lol you can't even get a plastic bag to sink in a bathtub but yet it made it all the way down there???? lol
Without question! Every Country, Government, and any Companies involved with producing any of the waste products that are gathering in the Oceans should all have to pitch in a percentage (Larger the producer of the product, the larger the percent) of money to go towards the waste removal process to clean the debris in the Oceans. There is no excuses why it's not already being done, and no way it can't be done.
The United States Navy I know from experience dumps a lot overboard. Everything from half-full paint cans to spent 5" shells from the deck guns. I got reprimanded for refusing to throw such thing into the sea...
Only after reach a high economic level I can put efforts on this, being eco friendly in this region is expensive. I'll try my best to be example for others in the region (if I can continue living here) but I'm behind some years to complete my projects. Starting with the basics :)...
Since the Mariana Trench is polluted here in the Philippines we see dead big sea animals that was from the ocean which are from the Mariana Trench that we haven't seen before
Isn't the pressure too high for those materials to get anywhere near the bottom of the ocean? Wouldnt the density of the water be greater than the density of the pollution?
Hey just so everyone knows the facts, you cant see shit down at the bottom of the Mariana Trench because of the immense lack of light. The only time anyone has been that deep was for three short hours when James Cameron in 2013 built a special manned sub. Since objects dont fall to the bottom of the ocean unless they're really heavy because they reach neutral buoyancy before reaching the floor, his sub was equipped with two 536 lb detachable weights to pull him down. But in order to get back to the surface, he detached the weights. So.....if there's any garbage down there, its two big ass weights left behind by Cameron himself.
this makes me SO MAD. GOVERNMENTS YA NEED TO STOP BIG INDUSTRIES DUMPING SHIT. Make the economy circular, not linear! If ot were up to me every indistru would need to be able to collect reuse and or disassemble everything they produce, like they did with glass bottles in the past. and for the love of god, lets stop using plastic where there are substitutes.
I love it when people talk with absolute certainty about things that noone understands. Because I'm going to arrogantly assume i know everything there is to know about everything even when i just said i don't know how it's happening!
The ocean may not have that unlimited capacity to mix and disperse waste but outer space just might. Now if we could only find a cheap way to fire it off.
Definition of irony: A video about plastic pollution being sponsored by a company that produces a lot of plastic garbage...

4:10 I love how you talk about pollution then advertise a product that has disposable plastic.

agbond003 true
To be fair, there are very few products which don't use disposable plastics.
agbond003 the problem isn't the plastic itself the problem is what to do with it.

IJ Beats Music Only if there’s a pressure differential. If it’s just an open plastic bottle then nothing will happen

Doesnt the international science community use metre? What is 26,000 feet in metres? Trace would say it in metres
Paula Baxter a meter is about the same as a yard so around 3 feet. So around 26000\3, I don't feel like doing it myself.
Robert Daggett compared to some other stuff I’ve seen on UA-cam, it’s one of the most accurate I’ve seen
Paula Baxter metrics is a dying thing feet is most popular
1:29 who just started laughing at that joke? 😂😂
i call BS!!!!!!!!!! you telling me that plastic and tin food cans made it all the way down there when it will crush glass into dust at that level????? the density at that deep level lol you can't even get a plastic bag to sink in a bathtub but yet it made it all the way down there???? lol
how bout the spam can then huh?
but wait a sec I'm not even answering ur question
okay nvm
dunhillsupramk3 ever tryed crushing plastic into dust ? It just condensed
The people at the Spam Corporation really need to share their advancements in submarine technology with the US Navy.
Oh shit that's my beer can, I told my friend hold it and now look.
the bush on his face is a little distracting
Dias Amreé here take this L. Your welcome.
this just made me realize that at some point plastic will be useless as it will rot.
Oh boy! If there's trash down in the ocean, my future should be somewhere down there as well!
From Mariana Trench to Outer Space, pollution everywhere! I wouldn't be surprised if we have polluted the earth's core already.
Since the Mariana Trench is polluted here in the Philippines we see dead big sea animals that was from the ocean which are from the Mariana Trench that we haven't seen before
Pollution scares me more than nuclear war.
Patriot Cat Long term. Pollution is affecting us all. As for Nuclear War, it doesnt scare me.
Do a video on what happens when the oceans have too much physical trash, not like pollution like oil spills or run off but actual physical trash.
as long as oil is the main energy source we will NEVER change
It won't get to the bottom of the trench. Trash will get crushed at the bottom being able to hold like 100000x more stuff at the bottom
This is gonna sound dumb but what are the chances that if the trash was to keep stacking up would it be able to increase the water level?
A subduction plate boundary sounds like the perfect landfill
Isn't the pressure too high for those materials to get anywhere near the bottom of the ocean? Wouldnt the density of the water be greater than the density of the pollution?
P.O.P HOLDING IT DOWN, PIMP SQUAD BABY FOR LIFE 😂😂😂👌🏾
"We can't do these videos on UA-cam without someone paying us thank you grazer for sponsoring this 4 minute video!"
How can people let this happen? This makes me cry. I really hope these self absorbed, selfish people start using their brain and stop!
He says "Reality is far worse" as if it's something out of the ordinary lol 😂😂😂
It's always been like this.
As someone that ACTUALLY cares about the environment,
IM SHOOK NASTY!
Question: How long will it take before we can go to the Trappist system?
You should do a video about all the debri in our atmosphere and how it could block us from space (it doesn't fall).
this makes me SO MAD.
I agree
"How Did The Deepest Part Of The Ocean Get So Polluted?" Is this a rhetorical question ? I think the answer is obvious. Fish don't recycle.
God damn it. Even the deepest point in the earth is not safe from our trash
I love it when people talk with absolute certainty about things that noone understands. Because I'm going to arrogantly assume i know everything there is to know about everything even when i just said i don't know how it's happening!
The ocean may not have that unlimited capacity to mix and disperse waste but outer space just might. Now if we could only find a cheap way to fire it off.
the water pressure is 16,000 psi at the deepest point, how would plastic make it down there?
I legit read it as marijuana trench and I said to myself. "These people be getting creative each year'
Can u do a video about current developments of arctic caps and oil drilling ?
we need all countries to work together and list down all of earth's problems and solve them one by one.
'Hey there polluting population'!
Lovin' it 😂
And, ouch
At first glance I thought it said 'Marijuana Trench'. lol
This is why people tell us that the ocean haven't been Explorer all the way so people think that it's an unlimited source of trash can
This is honestly sad 😔😟
today i found out: shit rolls down hill!
his rhym is so good
What efforts are being made to correct this problem?
65 million years from now an archeologist will publish a paper explaining the great mass extinction defined by a global plastic layer.
Yup, and that archeologist will probably be either an evolved cat or giant lobster.
Futurama taught me space is the best place for garbage. And if that doesn't work out, just blast it into sun.
I didn't even know Mariana's Trench was polluted.
