I love Groucho, he's old school, just don't make em like him any more, amazing talent, just so a natural born entertainer, thank you and your brothers for all the laughter 😁❤👍
Groucho had only 6 classes but he read so much that’s why his vocabulary is so rich and “ you know” , “aaa, yeah” were not part of it. Like the “ stars” of today and athletes that can barely put 2 words together. Probably I don’t make a whole lot of sense but my excuse is that English is not my first language and I was in my 20’s when I moved in the US so I’m still learning😁
Yep, there's something about Chico. He got to me and he's been dead for 60 years. But when I saw his piano playing and his sexy bedroom expressions, well, count me as another (imaginary) notch on his belt.
I love Groucho on marriage. ...."we live together and we're divorced and we do great but when we were married we were terrible". The man was ahead of his time. One of Groucho's marriages was particularly bad as his wife drank. His daughter, at one point, wanted to live with Harpo and his family.
Funny thing about Churchill and his ash, he would put a piece of wire through the cigar so it would stay on longer. He'd do it to intimidate foreign diplomats.
That's probably true for a lot of people: they get along better if they're not married, and some get along with their ex-spouses much better after the divorce.
Oddly, Groucho's denial that he ever wrote a produced screenplay is untrue. Check out "The King and the Chorus Girl" (1937) at the IMDB. It was a reasonably successful picture starring Joan Blondell, Edward Everett Horton and some mope recently arrived from Europe.
Groucho was a great entertainer... But he terrorized everyone around him: 4 spouses, kids, co-workers, and friends. He squandered his fortune and died in poverty & alone.
It's crazy to think that Groucho of all people wasn't confident in his writing. Dick was right when he said that school doesn't really teach you how to write well; having a good instinct for writing is what counts, which Groucho had.

“I was married by a judge. I should have asked for a jury.” Groucho Marx
Groucho was incredible. Funny as hell, well read, and sharp as a tack even at age 80.
John Greene incredible.

Groucho had more stories than the Empire State Building 😮
Because Chico needed the money
Julius Henry Marx. Nice to know that behind the stage face and the name change, there's a real person.
4:46 - Classic Groucho one liner.
nobody interviewed like cavett, not before or since

Well polished stories.
I never knew it was pronounced "Chikko". All these years I thought it was "Cheeko".
Walkabout he was called chicko because he was a chick magnet. ;-)

I completely agree with that. He made them feel so comfortable. And you can really tell Groucho was one of his favorites!

05:22 i've been married 3 times and it costs me a fortune.
Geez, he reminds me of my Grandpa.
The hat..

The house is Chartwell
Yes
If Groucho had stayed in school and become a writer he'd likely had nothing to write about!
ok, i dont know what to say but ok. i never got that smoking thing..
Two one-of-a-kinds.
His wit got the better of you; his cigar fueled his wit.
Groucho was a great entertainer... But he terrorized everyone around him: 4 spouses, kids, co-workers, and friends.
He squandered his fortune and died in poverty & alone.
A comedy giant - we shall not see his like again !
