He said because we can get alimony. But nowadays, women pay alimony too, so that is no longer an excuse for women not to have any rights. I like Groucho, but he had an old world view about that. But I can also see where some of it goes too far. It should just be about equality. So, you are a failed comedian? As rambling as his stories are, you can't really expect that what he's saying is accurate. He's 81 and trying to run through a life of experience in a half hour. It's kind of expected that he can't remember everything in the right order.
The stars will protest if it's beneficial to their careers and their celebrity. Look at the Kardashians. They spent roughly 16 million on a wedding for a marriage that has lasted 72 days. Is this publicity? Certainly. It's all about THEM. Stars do very little these days unless it's directly related to themselves in some way.
Goucho said it like it was. Awesome how he was very frank. Now when people talk like that in any interview there would be an uproar. Too many liberals.
"Liberal" comes from the Latin 'Libra ' zodiac sign of the balance scales, referring to an open mind balanced by healthy skepticism. How the hell did that ever become an insult ? People who use liberal as an insult are just plain ignorant of what they are saying. I think they are trying to say 'radical ' as being unbalanced in the radical direction, as opposed to unbalanced in the conservative direction. A pretty ineffective way of making 'conservative ' seem balanced. Might fool some morons into voting for a radical fascist, however, if the fascist claims to be 'conservative ' often enough. Never a shortage of morons, you know.
Back in my day, they called a man a man and they didn’t call him a guy. A man meant something, not a guy. And back in my day, they called a young person a child and not a kid. Now child means something. I resent that they call them kids. Kids doesn’t mean anything. Do you understand the frequency with which they call them kids? I my day, orange juice was made with oranges.

I have watched all the links to this episode with Groucho and his yellow shirt..while I love his movies and his TV show...I find him VERY RUDE especially to Truman Capote...and Mr. Capote kept his cool.
Okay, knock it off with the political bullshit. Doesn't anyone notice that Groucho is taking liberties with the truth here? He says that the Marx Brothers came directly from Broadway to Irving Thalberg at MGM. He's conveniently leaving out the fact that the brothers made five pictures for Paramount before they even met Thalberg. Either that, or he was senile.
He wanted to feed his ego and it works on and with people willing to do it and * fans* who like to put their heroes on a pedestal...He WAS talented though ...The “ Alimony” and “ women’s lib” comments are telling ...
Liberals like Nixon? And how many fingers have we had in how many pies since Obamessiah took office? Did Clinton keep our military out of conflicts? I'm pretty moderate but LMAO @ this blinders-on gibberish.
David James no he wasn't. He just had a very cool and suave way of speaking, which I love. He was very attractive and sexy in a boyish way, also. These days interviewers speak way too quickly at machine-gun speed and people generally speak too quickly because they're neurotic and self-absorbed. Give me the slow, mellifluous tones of Cavett and Groucho any day over the screeching, steamrolling squwaking of the modern day late night TV hosts and presenters.

Groucho is here talking about movies he made decades ago.
Nixon ended the war in Vietnam.
Goucho said it like it was. Awesome how he was very frank. Now when people talk like that in any interview there would be an uproar. Too many liberals.
Be quiet you effing fool.
@@Scorchy666 You stfu Mr.666!🤮💩🤣👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
What is your definition of liberal? What could be more liberal than frankly speaking one's mind? 🤔 There're liberals and "liberals" after all.
A woman means something, or at least it used to. Today our own president doesn't know what a woman is.
When was your "day," 1880? Guy and kid have been common usage for over 100 years.
What page do you think you're on?
(Past) Time for your meds.
Again.
u.n. owen I assumed that you’d enjoy the senile, irrelevant ramblings of an old man. You are, after all, watching an interview with the geriatric Groucho Marx!
show dont exist any more
I have watched all the links to this episode with Groucho and his yellow shirt..while I love his movies and his TV show...I find him VERY RUDE especially to Truman Capote...and Mr. Capote kept his cool.
time to STFU
Wow!
So Groucho Marx wasn't Miss Manners?
SHOCKING!
Everyone was rude to Truman Capote.
Deservedly so.
Either that, or he was senile.
bullshit
Yep....he was definitely starting to lose his cookies on this interview.
He wanted to feed his ego and it works on and with people willing to do it and * fans* who like to put their heroes on a pedestal...He WAS talented though ...The “ Alimony” and “ women’s lib” comments are telling ...
@@marciadiehl5733 he also said it was cold in California.
wow they both have very sexy black dress socks on !
@LaSerpentaCanta bs
Well, what is a woman?
Liberals like Nixon? And how many fingers have we had in how many pies since Obamessiah took office? Did Clinton keep our military out of conflicts?
I'm pretty moderate but LMAO @ this blinders-on gibberish.
Groucho wouldn't even have heard of the individuals you're slandering, speaking of moderate blinders-on gibberish.
Dick Cavett always seems stoned. He seems a nice guy, but kinda slow and vacant. He also forgets things he was going to say.
Yes, thoughtful + articulate="stoned".
@@unowen-nh9ov Forgetting something and trailing off is thoughtful? A lot of stoners are articulate. I'm not attacking his intelligence or smooth-ness, but his seeming inebriation. Just seems odd for a talk show host, as he seems out of it.
Cavett suffers from major depression.
Help! I am not a native speaker. What does Groucho say when he realizes it's Garbo? He starts with "I thought ..."
Bernd Wahlbrinck "I'm terribly sorry, I thought you were a fellow I know from Kansas City".
gilbert gottfried
has nothing to do with this page.
@@unowen-nh9ov google "gilbert gottfried groucho"
Well, he wasn't right about everything.
Nobody was interested in the "love story" in A Night at the Opera... Thalberg is so overrated. Most of all by Groucho. The pictures did go downhill after he died, they acted as if they lost their mentor.
Because they did.
I put this guy in Jerry Lewis in the same category , overrated
Cavett is just awful. Unlikable.
For you to say that just shows what an idiot you are. Watch his movies. His sense of humor is always on point. Mostly sarcastic and always for the laugh. He was truly a brilliant guy.
Antone is probably a howard stern fan...
Well I take back what I said if you were talking about Cavett being awful. From what I remember he was a hollywood fan that somehow got into the business of meeting them. He wasnt my favorite interviewer. I think you edited your comment which sounded like you thought Groucho was awful and unlikeable.
Dude was cool enough to treat true artists with respect. That makes him cool in my book.
P.s. I really enjoy just looking at the pages of people I find in the comments who don't enjoy people/art/things that I enjoy and seeing nothing I enjoy......well I suppose we do have Groucho : 0 )
Matt Walsh in the chat???
