One simple joy I have in life is hearing Blind explain something during a stream, say something along the lines of "that's how it works, and I get asked about it a lot so I should probably do a short tutorial on it" and then seeing said tutorial like three days later pop up on the channel.
You can fit every single guildhall overlapped into a library as long as one tile on the floor is dedicated solely to an area. You can also do this with religions as long as the offering place is in its own singular tile. It kind of resembles a folder system with the respective tabs popping up where the singular areas are, which also helps select specific zones overlapping and there isnt any value loss for these things overlapping either. My library is a full on university and all my dwarves are studying just about everything while also discussing scholar topics etc.
The single tile actually isn't necessary. I've done temporary guildhalls with 100% overlap and it works. Good for roleplay, but not needed mechanically.
@@head0fmob Room value decreases (ie, like if you were trying to have a Noble's bedroom double as their office) but this doesn't affect location value. It's weird, and probably a bug.
just bought the game a few days ago. when i play games i usually want to understand and make use of every mechanic the game has to offer. would have taken me hours of hours just testing stuff etc before actually just playing the game. your videos are really helping me out. thanks a lot my friend
This is so helpful! I just started messing with it when you mentioned it on the stream a couple days ago. I am already seeing my dwarves have many more interactions (learning, teaching, doctoring, etc). Much more science needs to be done.
In my Unicorn farm, i tryied what you said in 5:36, but it dont work, the best results i got from this kind of link was, link a pasture and a animal training zone to a animal training guild, them take my best animal trainers and make them scholars. After this i got alot of books about animal stuff.
What does the linking achieve in this case. When you made a spot for the dining hall I’m the library do they study and eat or are they more likely to use that dining hall?
The attached dining rooms look like they generally don't have their own food stockpiles. Do dwarves go off to get food from another stockpile (maybe one in the main dining hall) and come back, or do they carry around their lunch in their pocket?
I believe priests of a temple have meetings, but they do not use offices I assign them to hold those meetings. Can offices and temples be linked so priests conduct meetings in a good area?
Any videos how to properly link stockpiles? I cant seem to get them to work properly and supply the fortress. I usually end up with 1 barrel at the tavern while the distllery area is full with drinks.
Blind, i have a question... I've had a Loyalty Cascade (never had one) .... I'm under the impression it had something to do with me linking my tavern to a bunch of places (like the barracks) Do you know something about it?
You build stairs, ramps and whatever needed to give acess to your dwarves, then you carefully deconstruct it. It's nicknames "scaffolding", and some players like to avoid it, for lazyness or fear of deconstructing wrongly and causing a demolishing cave-in.
is that mean the value of location by different zone as one location be stacked? overlapping zone the old version only cause dwarves confused and only using it for socialize instead as it meant to be.
Can you make a boxing hall? Idea: If you attach a barracks to a tavern and assign a squad to train periodically in that barracks, would dwarfs who visit the tavern be able to satisfy their training (/sparring) need by watching demonstrations (/sparring)? I.e. Would this solve the need to keep juggling squad assignments to handle training needs?
I've not seen anyone pull this off but I've sure seen people try. They don't act like guildhalls is the issue its more for satisfying social and party needs for the military.
i remember my dwarven child becomes legendary observer just by playing around barracks and i wonder can military schedule juggle the milita to go tavern barracks - library barracks - temple barracks by a year?
@@BlindiRL Are you sure? In older versions you can link dining halls and pastures to whatever other zone you want, however, it doesn't seem possible to link barracks and archery ranges to zones.
... shit. You just tripled the size of what I want my fort to be with just 6 minutes of talking. I'm not sure if I should curse you for giving me a headache from the possibilities or thank you for the stuff I'll try out. I suppose, on behalf of the Dwarfs of Archarch the Archarch of Arches, I thank you!

Wow, never knew about this. This also allows you to have a place that reaches across multiple z-levels, which zones aren't allowed to do on their own.

I thought if they overlap the room value will drop?

@@loganj.9482 you mean for guild hall, room value decrease is fine as long as it's still functioning?
@@head0fmob Yes. The room value decrease doesn't affect the value of the guildhall (or temple, for that matter) at all

Got a dining hall in my library now and everyone is just loving it. Need to treat my guildhalls better though. This gives me some ideas.
I had no idea I could use zones like this.... 😯 Absolutely game changing
This has changed the way I build my forts forever
Oh shoot that's super useful. I don't know that was how this worked at all thanks man. Definitely going to be linking my barracks to taverns now.

this is great, i have been looking for a feature like this
What does the linking achieve in this case. When you made a spot for the dining hall I’m the library do they study and eat or are they more likely to use that dining hall?
it seems they can do dining hall staff in the library zone, which means more socializing?
The attached dining rooms look like they generally don't have their own food stockpiles. Do dwarves go off to get food from another stockpile (maybe one in the main dining hall) and come back, or do they carry around their lunch in their pocket?
I second that question

Love these
I was today years old when I learned something new about a game I’ve easily invested 1K hours in. 😅
Sunbirths is looking crazy
It's going places.

Nothing for the current version. Tekkud has a really good stockpile video about ver 47.

Do you know something about it?
If you have a tavern with tavern keepers it can cause them to brawl visitors and dwarves that are upset start fights when they argue.
@@BlindiRL you are so kind, thank you. My issue is that there was no crime report about it, just mayhem

overlapping zone the old version only cause dwarves confused and only using it for socialize instead as it meant to be.
The value of the extra zone is added yeah.
How did you do two square door?
A sand collection area connected to an archery range so dwarves learn why it is important to carry POCKET SAND, SH SH SH SHA!

What animals you training in that fort? They looked rather ferocious.
Drop bears, very dangerous.
Is this a new feature or was already present in 0.47?
You could do it in 47

lol sorry
This feels cheesy.
But I love cheese.
How's it cheesy? Just up the value requirements and run with it.
