With around only 20% of new boats being under 100k starting price and up, new boat ownership for your average middle class, upper middle class person is going extinct.
They have not gone down from the manufacturer, correct. Many dealers though are charging a lower margin than before and there are some manufacturer rebates available. As an example, a boat we were selling in 2023 for 90,000 is in 2024 85,000 with those two factors in play. At least they aren’t going up rapidly like they were!!
For the life of me I can not understand how it is called owning when your take out a mortgage of 10 to 20 years and the bank holds the title and allows you to use the boat. It really makes you the second owner of a depreciating asset. So no, 2024 is a great year to own a boat if you pay cash, any year is a great year if you pay cash
I bought mine in 2024 for $1,000…….and I just put an LS in it, and modernizing it with seadeck. People who pay 120 grand for a floating money incinerator are absolutely insane.
Here in Manitoba Canada. Boat prices still going up. People still asking high dollar for used boats. Dealer carries g3 boats and alumarine. Didn’t bring in any G3’s just the open basic fishing boats Alumarine that are selling and people can afford
Boats are great and there are a lot to choose from. But boats are one of the most demanding thing you will ever own. Eventually most boat owners cannot wait to sell there current one. Of course there is always the boat owners who are looking to buy the next boat.
You are right and I don’t see them ever coming down unless they pull content out. That happened after 2008 as the boat companies that survived “lowered the price” by making smaller, less expensive boats (compared to the same models before)

New Boat prices are definitely not down to where they were before covid. prices are still high.

Not seen any evidence of it around here except used selection is little better but still crazy prices.
