Shafter Place It neighborhood visioning workshop November 5, 2024.

I collaborated with Rami and Associatess to facilitated the Place It! workshop as part of neighborhood plan in Shafter, California. Building with their hands and objects put the community members into a creative flow state, and they were able to think big about their future community. Personal histories, places, and people they valued were revealed through their childhood memories. Many of their memories focused on being self-reliant, growing up in an agricultural landscape, and how orchards, fields, gardening, and community shaped their lives. Their intangible memories are a critical step in starting the planning and design process because they are the foundation to create meaningful places. They also were a great way to build consensus.
