As someone who has a red meat intolerance, but has always loved meat, I appreciate this!

God, I thought I was picky.
Just so you know. Beyond beef is soy free and GMO free. It wasn't soy he was tasting. New studies have found that impossible burger has some questionable ingredients that cause cancer in mice. Though beyond burger meat gets a bad rep due to the two being mixed up by consumers. I have yet to find a truly questionable ingredient in beyond beef.
To get a texture similar to real beef, most of the “plant” component is HPMC (hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose) (also called hypromellose or modified cellulose). In the manufacturing process, based on modifying the chemical substitution and molecular weight, they can dial in the temperature at which the product “gels” and the strength of the gel which mimics the texture of beef.
Pea or soy is only added to up the protein content. Beet extract for red color. Oils and gums are added for fat and corresponding “mouth feel.” But most of the plant component of the burger comes from tree pulp.

You really can't decide if you like something or not, unless it has an extreme / strong flavor (think horseradish) with like one bite. So far as the Impossible being dry because you had to cook it to 160 internal temp... you could totally eat that raw if you wanted to... so you can make it medium rare next time if you wanted to... and I'd be more juicy. I'm a meat eater and I live the Impossible... and I guess I put more effort into it because I really liked the goal of Impossible Foods.

The burger was the juicest because the others were over cooked. They aren't made out of flesh they don't need to be cooked nearly as long

@@Redmeatlover You want to try something good with burgers? Mix a little Bourbon and a little Worcestershire sauce into the meat when you're grinding it. It's great! Then cook it with a slice of bacon on top of it.

Although Beyond doesn’t taste as good as the Impossible burger, they have invested in a cultured meat company called Steakholder Foods - “STKH”. That company 3d’s real meat from stem cells. It’s real meat, just not slaughtered.

@@Redmeatlover Ketchup. I make my own keto ketchup so no sugar, HFC or seed oils. I make my own keto buns. Mostly scrambled egg. A little bit of coconut flower and a just a bit of psyllium husk powder as a binder. Fry in nonstick pan. Adding bacon is always a great idea. Swiss and sharp cheddar are the go-to cheeses. __ I grew up East Coast. Nobody puts mustard on hamburgers. When I started traveling for business I went to a fast food place. After taking the first bite of a burger I had to spit it out. I thought something was wrong with it. Figured out it was mustard.

Impossible's Whopper tastes acceptable side by side a meat Whopper IMO. Like if Burger King or McDonald's totally switched it wouldn't be a deal breaker but the moment you go for slightly better fast food burgers like Five Guys the difference is too clear so it doesn't stand a chance against a properly home cooked burger especially since it's priced higher (well where I live).
So it probably was made for the fast food market since thats waaaay larger than the vegan and vegetarian market.
