I've only recently found your channel but I'm loving the videos. Great storytelling of your travels and fascinating insight into a profession I knew nothing about. I've got to commend you on the production quality too! Keep up the great work!
Hi mate, watched a few of your vids lately and im really considering a career change soon, done the normal thing and looked on job sites and found a few but they have really bad ratings from previous staff so putting me off a little, can you recommend any companys or anything i can look for? Thanks 👍🏻
Really hard to say unfortunately, people do tend to complain about any workplace really! But if you can find a local dealership and work exclusively for them, as I do, I'd really recommend doing that. Also, if you can, you could try doing it part time for a bit alongside another job (if you can) to see how it goes.
Hello 👋🏻 I’ve recently applied for BCA doing their collection / delivery role and have now been told I can have the job if I’m up for it. I’m currently in a stable 9-5 Monday-Friday job although it is minimum wage. With the interviewer on the phone I was told there would always be work and job security isn’t an issue. Just wondering if you know much about and if this is the case? I’ve always fancied doing a job like this but don’t want to be overworked/underpaid and not have work available at all some days. Thank you for any advice
I've never worked for someone like BCA so I'm probably not actually the best person to ask! It will likely be quite different from what I do. I work for one car dealer exclusively, whereas BCA is a much larger national operation with hundreds (or more) vehicle movements every day. I would suggest googling "what's it like driving for BCA", and seeing what employees have said.
@@tradeplatetravels Hi, you mentioned " I work for one car dealer exclusively" I imagine I would need to have experience as a Trade Plate driver to work for a Car dealer exclusively as a driver?
@@Notoriousz7867 Would certainly help, but most important for dealers is that you're a local, friendly and reliable driver who can take vehicles safely across the country, at short notice. As for me, I had already worked for TMC in a different capacity so they knew me already!
@@tradeplatetravels Thank you for the rapid response. I have been considering a career change recently. Considering somehing like what you do. Great videos :) informative and a great insight into what you do.
Thanks, always nice to see our countryside.

I live in Reading ! Your Knowledge of 'Time tables' is a must !

Thanks very much Tom, that's really appreciated and very kind of you!
Lovely Devon
'Trains, Planes, and automobiles, plus local history , you need to be on the plane for that next Scottish collection !
I'd love to do a Scotland trip, not sure if TMC will send me that far though!
Surprised you didn’t change at Woking for the Exeter service from there…
That would usually have been an option, but actually that line was blocked on the day!
I’ve always fancied doing this job, just wondering do you still get payed between pickups or just when your on the road?
I get paid for the entire time I'm out, but this varies depending on where you work, some places pay you based on miles driven.
@@tradeplatetravels thank you

Did you take the job at BCA? I just applied for this same role.

Is it not illegal to have trade plates inside the vehicle…?
