It wasn't that long ago that we made that trek from the JR Station to the Shinjuku Bus terminal. A word of caution with regard to riding the buses is that the buses do fill up so reserving a seat in advance is well advised which is easier said than done. There are time cut offs for making reservations online so it is next to impossible to schedule a bus for the next day if one tries after 4 PM. We ended up showing up at the terminal early in the morning the next day to reserve a seat for later in the day.
Hello John. Thanks for showing us around Japan. I am watching you from Littleton Colorado USA 🇺🇸 great shot of the bus station and the other parts of it.
i loved this stream john! i've never explored this part of the south entrance and i had no idea there were so many busses that can take you to other prefectures. a bus to takayama sounds awesome. i'll defintiely keep the busses in mind for maybe even the upcoming winter break. also, seeing you suddenly explore the terrace/garden was great. i enjoyed exploring with you, i think tmrw ill go check out the area myself
As a local adviser with the transportation your advices are more than welcomed ,especially for the first timers who'se visiting in Japan🙂Those advices are really appreciated therefore😎Thank you for sharing this John🙂👍!!!
Hey, I was there this morning when I came from Narita airport and I was overwhelmed by the sheer size of the station and the number of exits. It was such a coincidence that you were also there but I didn’t get to meet you
😅 I just missed you. I was coming in from Gotokuji Temple via the Odyaku Line in the late morning, and spending the last few hours I had in Japan before I head to Narita.
Hi, John. Good morning 🌅 to you from Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR. Hong Kong 🇭🇰 also has high speed rail 🚄from the HK International Airport to the city, ever since the new airport was built. Currently, a third tarmac runway had just been built and has just started its service. Hong Kong 🇭🇰 also has Airport Buses 🚍 direct from the airport to major areas in Hong Kong including major hotels 🏨.
Hey John. Thanks for sharing yet another great Video, will try to join your next live stream here from Dallas, Texas. BTW, I am still very confused about the IC cards. My plan is to go around Tokyo with a couple day trips from Tokyo. Then take a bullet to Kyoto and a few other day trips. The last leg is Osaka and again day trip to Hiroshima and vicinity. What is the best IC card here? Keep up the good work. Thanks much.
There is no difference with IC card. They’re just regional brands that do the same thing. If you arrive and leave from Tokyo, get the Suica or Pasmo. If you arrive in Osaka, ICOCA is your IC Card. If you go to Sapporo, I kind of like the look of the KITACA. Flying squirrel! 🐿️ You can charge it nationwide. They all work ^_^ thanks for joining me from Texas! ⭐️
26:51 In this frame far right. There is the JR East Travel Services Center. This is where I redeemed my vouchers for a JR Rail pass (for Shinkansen, trains and buses under JR Rail). These are vouchers tourists receive from their tour company/guide. This is the location where you redeem it (not for the Hakone pass). One note: make sure you know your exact dates for your JR pass because once they process it there are no corrections.
After having watched yet another depressing video on the subway systems in NYC, USA, I have to wonder: Is fare evasion or entry/exit stile jumping a very common occurrence in Japan, or is that phenomenon constraint to only countries like the USA?
No, no one I’ve seen avoids the fare at the gate. Because NYC has so much crime, they let petty theft go. A terrible precedent. They do not here. You’ll spend a day at the police station, pay a fine perhaps.
If I'm not mistaken, there are women-only buses for their ease of mind. Japan has issues with chikan/molesters, so that's one stopgap companies implement.

Good advice! ESP during peak season, book ahead.
I really love Shinjuku station. Thank you John for taking me back on the walk thru this area
I have never yet discover this busiest Shinjuku station..... Thanks for the walk experience John.

I lived in Shinjuku for 7 years and spent a lot of time in this bustling and amazing area of Tokyo. Thank you for bringing me there one more time.
It’s changed so much, it’ll be so different in another 18 months! So many new buildings coming!

It's a maze for sure! It's easy to get turned around, but I think that's part of the fun!

いつも楽しく拝見させてもらってます。ジョンさん、JR西日本のICOCAカードをまだお持ちなんですね。東京ご在住だからsuicaかなと思いましたが。自由通路が出来たりして新宿駅も少しづつ変わっていきますね。
That’s not ICOCA 😂 watch again. I travel a lot, more fun to use cards from elsewhere. Who wants to do what everyone else is doing?
Can you also use the Toica and Icoca in Tokyo when buying at 711s, Lawson and other places other than the trains?

Great view from the McDonald's across the street, plus there's a bathroom and the menu is WAY better than the US.
Thanks!
Great video John you are hilarious! I did the same thing with the live cam when I was there last time.
😂 it’s fun to play it back, it gives 12 hours to download it later. Thank you ^_^
My wife and I will be returning in March for the 6th time in 2 years, stopping in Taipei for 3 full days first.
I enjoyed the live stream the building was nice with roof gardens and you doing karate moves with the live camera that was funny
Is it safe to use a bicycle on major roads?
If a game became popular just because how infamous the station it's based on is in terms of being confusing, they're not messing around.
Hey John, take care with filming on an escalator especially if a girl in a short skirt is in front of you.
You can get easily in trouble with that.

Why do you have to specify whether you're male or female when purchasing a bus ticket?
I dunno, provide better service? Maybe they have a gift 🎁 🤷🏻

40:03 - haha...that lady looked at you in fear.
