    The Fryette Power Station® - a new amplifier attenuator and re-amplification solution, offering players intuitive and precise control over amplifier volume, distortion behavior and a wide range of highly refined tonal qualities previously unavailable from any single attenuating or re-amping product.
    Built on decades of experience producing the finest all-tube power amps available, the Power Station is a practical and highly functional tool that solves problems frequently encountered in live playing and recording environments. It beautifully accentuates the inherent qualities of any amplifier and allows your amplifier to breathe and dynamically respond to your playing technique the way a great guitar amp should. The Power Station is designed to be transparent, user friendly, reliable and ultra-responsive to a wide array of guitar amplifier and speaker types. It also integrates seamlessly with any combination of internal and external speaker configurations.
    The Power Station also excels as a power booster, something that no other attenuator can do. Just as you would connect a big amp to reduce output volume, the Power Station can also be used to boost the output of a small amplifier. Imagine taking your mini-amp or small vintage combo to a gig and having enough power to be heard without sacrificing feel and tonal quality. It is not only possible, but easy and fun!
    Finally, your Power Station functions as a versatile silent reactive load for direct recording by simply connecting the Balanced or Unbalanced Line out to your recording interface.

    Both units are semi usable for bedroom playing (I have both). Both produce an annoying hum (which is not a ground loop in my room) and of course the fan noise. I mentioned it in several comments already. Too much is cramped into these devices. Better is to use a reactive load and go reamping with a second tube amp (if you have one). I am using the PS in Europe. Maybe Fryette didn’t properly cater for our 50 Hz instead of the US 60 Hz. Consequently I rarely use these expensive devices. 😢

    agree 100% about the extra sonic girth of the PS-100. it's an awesome amp and usable in any situation. the LXII is also straight fire for going between a modeler and a traditional cab- injects that traditional feel we're all used to into a modern modeling scenario with a physical cab. Thank you for this awesome q&a series. I’ve got a question, if I may. For the PS-100 tubes, the manual lists “V1 - 12DW7/ECC832 Power amplifier driver and phase inverter.” However, the website says it’s a “One 12AX7.” From my limited research, the JJ electronics folks say that the ECC832 “combines 12AX7 and 12AU7, where the 12AX7 is used as 1st stage and the 12AU7 as 2nd stage.” So, my question is which would actually be ‘best’ for the PS-100? I’m curious whIch one will actually be inside my PS-100 when it arrives. Thank you once again!

    • @FryetteAmps
      @FryetteAmps  Рік тому +4

      The 1st 100 PS-100s used 12AX7. After that it was redesigned to use ECC832/12DW7 because it worked better for driving those big 6550s.

    Hi. After a few weeks of absorbing info on reactive load options, I'm honing in on a Fryette PS-2. I have a few questions specific to my application.
    I recently purchased a 1996 Vox AC30/6 TBX strictly for home recording use (Marshall produced JMI era AC30 reissue -> Mullard GZ34, EL-84, Alnico Blues, etc.). I want to use the amp's full range of tones, but won't be able to drive the amp to the level needed without some form of attenuation/voltage regulation. I'm looking for a solution with the least amount of tonal coloration, so needless to say I won't be using IRs or line direct -> I'll mic the speakers.
    I sent the amp to Nashville Amplifier Service for mods and servicing, and need to decide on internal voltage regulation/master volume modification vs. an external attenuator. I'm currently leaning heavily towards external. I have a few questions:
    1) Based on a white noise demonstration I found, it appears the EQ curve in by-pass mode is flat, but significantly altered when the tube amp is engaged. Would I need to run the Fryette in by-pass mode to prevent the 6L6 tube amplifier from coloring the Vox circuit?
    2) I want to run a Multivox MX-201 Multi Echo through the Fryette Effects S/R. Will the Effects S/R function if I need to run the Fryette in by-pass mode?
    3) Based on the connection diagrams in the Fryette manual, for my combo amp, it appears I'll need a direct cable connection to the speakers. Then use a female adapter to connect with the Fryette Speaker Out cable. Am I interpreting this correctly or over-complicating the set-up?
    Thanks! I really hope the Fryette PS-2 is the right solution for me, but based on the approach I've seen in your videos I trust you'll give me an honest response either way... which I really appreciate.

    Joe, if I run a line out to either my DAW or to an IR loading box like my Two Notes, do I disconnect the cable to my amp's speaker? Or do i just turn down the volume from the power amp to kill the speaker volume? Is there any volume control for the line out, or is it a fixed level? Thanks!

    • @FryetteAmps
